LUUULZZZ with that amount u can buy the most expensive PS3 SKU and have leftover cash for a lot of games. Plus u that first console u bought will STILL be around in working condition.

Lucky me I've only had 1 3ROD and I got it fixed. Still works till this day. Yay.

Feel bad for those who's on their 3rd and 4th 3ROD though.

Regarding the added feature of each console (Wii??) I would have to say this falls in the grey area. You see, some people bought the machine solely for gaming purposes, while other also awe their multimedia capabilities. Manufacturers add that feature to compete, and backed by each business plan and company forecast, I would say competition between them is great. Lowers the price while adds the value of each product. For myself, my PS3 is our entertainment center. I bought the 40gig version (people b**** about its lack of MSPD slots and fewer USB ports) Why?

1. The price was cheaper.

2. I am not a fan of those portable media storage. Unless I am a hardcore photographer, or have 10, 20 MSPDs lying arount the joint, the slot feature is useless to me. The thing is, PS3 can always accept expanded USB slots and USB card readers, no biggie there. Take that extra cost and got myself a 160 sata hdd, i am set.

My PS3, is 70 % gaming and 30 % multimedia. Because of the price of the games these days, I force myself to finish all of the games I have, while enjoying the multimedia capabilities of the thing. Blu ray? One. Yup one. I have my movies, all snugly stored in my hdd, and my music all intact. Your analogy using the phone is superb. 3g? My handphone can only make calls, receive calls and sms. Other than that I dont care

Personally, I think the main driver for me gaming is because of the price of the games these days. Original games are expensive, and not finishing them for me is a waste. Better dont buy in the first place. Sad to read about your 3rods tho, you would be suprised how long the queue to claim the warranty here in Singapore.

For the PS3 we have to choose and research about the game we are attempting to buy to see whether we will like it or not.
For the 360, we can just pick up a game and TRY it to see whether it's good or not.

hell ya...... in console couch, every single little detail is observed a given a thought. although probably not many people care about the power adapter for their console once it is put in place, still it is a minus point for 360.

i would say xbox 360 for now ,bcoz 360 have a good potential in social gaming( you wont get bored if you got friends to play with).Ps3 old gaming concept is still on the run (very easy to get bored and no excitement when playing it--->solo gamers only).I used to play ps2 and stop playing ps2 games bcoz i get bored, imagine u facing alone with a tv screen where nobody talks to u, it is very sien 1 u know.I have those experience in my life.

you do know that PS3 has a lot of multiplayer games right? for free?

PS3 also got online multiplayer game lah, but not many as Xbox360,currently compare the online system, xbox live is stronger n stable than Play Station Network, thats why this is worth to pay 40sen per day for Xbox Live, thats all ppl said"what u pay and what u gain". Maybe PlayStation Home will be another story.

i guess millions of early adopters and loyal fanbase of xbox360 basically funded the 1st ~3 million (16% of 20 million) defective consoles so that MS can afford adding an extra USD5 copper heatsink after 15 months
