Thanks to all the pretty friendly models who had given me poses and sweet smiles

The lighting condition inside KLCC Conventional Center is too poor and totally out of control

If you girls need studio shots to apply modeling job, please contact with me, I could do a much better job for 1 to 1 studio shots for you, free of charge for girls

If you guys like my pc fair photos, I will post some more, got a lot. wink.gif

welcome others to post your PC Fair photos here also rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

i know a lot ppl like to give others bad comments and to show themselves are better.

personally i like win-win culture, i don't like this die-die approach
i mean have a good habit, future your guys will have your own girl friend, your own family

you cannot have this habit with your wife or your children, if you don't remind yourself and have a change
you will lose much more than what you get from me today.

thanks.

Finally vikingw2k uploaded his own pc fair photos at the end of page 3

and you can also refer to travis_ckf last year pc fair photos' quality, how he quarreled with others
and how I stood on his side spoke for him here

I beg my friends will not bad comment on vikingw2k's photos,
since he's already changed to a more genuine way.

Let things pass.

Thanks to all friends, who have supported me and protected models from being hurt by bad comment

I think I saw you shooting the girl's photo during the girl of the 3rd photo. After you shoot, you let her see the photo on your camera right?

Hmm i not sure if its right to say this that although u claimed urself to be the best photographer in subang n kl, why u waste ur time shooting pc fair and instead shoot something else. sweat.gif Pro phootgraphers can make the best out of anything smile.gif

Btw back on the pics, i not sure if anyone feels this but the colors were completely out and overexposed. The flash way too harsh in pic no 1 & 3.

The only pic that looked normal is the last one, but is that all? Hope u post more to justify ur so called "title" wink.gif

relax, those words are for business purposes only, meaningless
and i has delivered my compliments to all other photographers' posts, if you check.

and i had also said "great job" to your last year PC Fair photos, if you check your closed topic.
anyway I really like your photography, you really have the talent. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

If it's meaningless, it shouldn't be there at the first place.

Here are some comments from me,

1# The left and top is too empty. It could be better if you frame it more towards rightside and lower a bit.

2# Flash is too harsh, should frame it slightly lower till her knee so that the top of the picture won't be that empty

3# Composition isn't that interesting, the top is too empty. I would prefer it to be lower and slightly more to the left to frame her with the laptop as well.

4# You could have snapped at a better angle.

5# Hands chopped

p/s: Frankly, the frame is very distracting. Also, it'll look a lot nicer to me with the "Best Wedding & Event Photographer @ Subang Klang" thingy replaced with a humble watermark like what a Real Pro would do.

if your guys really want to compare, please post some your own pc fair photos to compare.

actual practice is much much harder than just type some words.

thanks smile.gif smile.gif

I guess you get the wrong concept. Photo Gallery is not meant for you guys to compare each other's picture and there's no point do so. If you were thinking of doing so, you might be in the wrong place. This is a place for us to share our pictures with others and allowing them to leave their compliments or critiques so that we can further improve on that. Kindly take note on that.

without actual practice, you won't know how hard it is
the poor lighting condition, very high brown, yellow color ceiling, crowded people keep on knocking your body

thanks for your understanding, you still can go there tomorrow and try

smile.gif smile.gif

waiting for your photos, still want to learn some real practice from you.

Welcome to LYN, esp during pc fair session everyone woke up and though they are the judges of american's top model and bash whichever pics of models/promoters frm pc fair.

But my concern is not about these bashing, its on ur pics which needs improvement. Viking has already commented ur pics so there no need to repeat what is lacking or things that u need to improve on ur pics.

Well i rest my case mate, hope u get the point.

Taking Pictures @ PC fair is much much harder than taking pictures @ zoo... errr or even other indoor enviroment...

1st of all, we have limited space(people will curse you, if you aim too long), we have limited time( people are pushing around and we have very limited lighting...( ceiling too high, wall too grey.... )phew...

so, pls dun gip bad comments la... we are sharing out our "hard-earned" photos wor ... sad.gif

but one thing for sure... it's a good place to train our photography skill...

For start, i did not attend this edition of pc fair, so no pics for u guys this time. However i have already given my comments on alwayscheap's pics on the 1st page and by right he should know how to improve considering he has claimed himself as "best photographer in klang/subang"

Also, i will definery comment ur pics if u post here and requested c&c, but unfortunatelly i did not see anyone of u doing that, so how can i going to do that? wink.gif

I dont call myself pro, i still a learning photolog like many of us here. We do share, comment or advise on how to improve among ourself. Perhaps that my comments are more on a hrasher side. So my apologies if i hurt anyone feelings. I do admit i am harsh in giving comments but that is depending whether u can accept it or not. Afterall, life is a never ending process, right?

Another thing i would like to share is there is no right or wrong in photography, just like a sifu i know once said, so u may like that pic, some people may not like a pic. If there ways to see to improve the pic, u may help that person by giving guidance, comments or give encouragement.

So i may not like his pics, but u guys like it, so be it. i rest my case wink.gif

In KL Valley, there are 8 million populations, 1000+ wedding and another 1000+ events every weekend, more than 2000 event and wedding photographers. If you cannot show others good works, you shoot me down, business will go to other 1999 photographers, still won't go to u. So what is the benefit from shooting others rather than do well your job?

Anyway, I am still much prefer the last year travis_ckf,
who bravely uploaded his photos to lowyat;
who quarreled with the people acted better on shooting him;
who hopelessly fought with his little voice to protect the chicks in his photos from being hurt by bad comments.

And I am not yet regret of standing on his side and typed my replies to support him.

Thanks. smile.gif smile.gif

@ Thread starter, nice pic, and nice indoor shots, everyone got thier own perspective in shooting and point of view, impossible for all to like the same style,
best take all comments in as possitive feedback for further improvements.

alwaysCheap,

Frankly, I would suggest you to pickup some basic skills like "Willing to listen and live up with critiques and compliments by others" if you are really into photography. Where ever you post your pictures, be prepared to be commented be it a good compliment or a critique. You don't expect people to give you good ones all the time do you? If they critique, it'll be better if you could ask them why, or at least reply politely to their critiques and analyze their suggestions to improve if they are kind enough to guide you rather than being defensive and start blaming the peoples there saying that "criticizing is a bad culture" or "they just keep pressing me" kinda thing.

Another basic skill that you might wanna pick up is "How to be humble and nice to the people around you".

No, we are civilized humans not animals, we don't educate forumers here to bite people in future. We encourage healthy discussions here. Hope you understand how it works here.

lai, I want to add some fire

You get die die because
1. You used a photo sharing thread as an advertising thread.
2. You self-proclaimed to be best in what you do, therefore, do expect bashing if your work is not up to the par.

No one here is a pro. No one call their ownself pro. If your photos are great, people will call you pro. But if call yourself a pro - self-proclaming to be best is dangerous and people will LOVE TO CRITIQUE PROS. Pro, the best or sifu, is called by other people, not self !!

Same goes to advertising. If you want to advertise, I suggest you make a portfolio website and advertise it in garage sales. People don't need to advertise here, just as long their photos are good, there will be people asking for them.

So before another bashing comes, I suggest you
1. Remove your phone number as your thread mark
2. Remove the word 'Best'

We are all here to share and learn from critiques biggrin.gif

I couldn't agree you more.
I find 2 interesting things here:
1st is the best photos of this pc fair got the most bad comments from travis_ckf and vikingw2k
2nd is people just pump in and keep asking TS about equipments and tips without say a words for TS first, how come people become so selfish nowadays?

Well, I wouldn't wanna waste much time to comment on your biased statements since you are closely related to alwaysCheap.

Best photos or you are just trying to back each other up? Perhaps you should take a glance at other forumers' gallery before saying these kinda pictures are the best.

Attending some extra English classes might help you to improve on that.

QUOTE(alwaysCheap @ Apr 14 2008, 06:05 PM)

I feel that you should really attend some extra classes as I find you having hard time understanding what we are trying to converse here. I've never offered to teach you or what cause I'm not that thick-faced to self claim that I'm a pro and I would rather leave it to the rest to judge as it's not important to me. We are just giving you some genuine comments on your pictures and suggesting some ways to improve them and we'll be glad if you can discuss it in a maturely manner with us rather accusing us of being prejudice to you for criticizing your so-called "Best PCFair shots".

If you are that keen to see some ordinary shots of mine, here are a few for you though I don't really fancy posting in other people's thread. Anyway don't expect much as I've accidentally left my loyal Canon 580exII flashgun at home when I was rushing out.

There I was silently trolling the forum and chanced upon this thread. Thinking that I would have the chance to see some pics from the PC Fair, I got much more in return.

Dear TS, please do not get the idea anyone is trying to insult you or treat you in a condescending manner. All I've read so far are constructive criticism. There is no need to over-analyze things. We are given two ears to listen more than to utter biased statements.

Here's a little tip, "The mind, like a parachute, works best when it's open."

If you open a thread in the Photo Gallery to only accept the "oohs" and "aahs" and feel uneasy about criticism (constructive mind you) then I advise you to post elsewhere but a share & care forum like this.

Well, I don't see anything wrong for guiding him to a better path since he himself admitted that he couldn't understand my simple English. Do you have any issue on that? smile.gif

Enough of that, bring your things back to Kopitiam and whine there (like what you always do) if you are here to flame-bait and not contributing any useful comments on the photos in this thread. Let's keep this thread open for compliments and critiques on the photos.

Thanks my friend.

I have seen too many dramas in this thread, and I feel really sad.

for what purpose attacking others first, then whole night not sleeping, keep monitoring and deleting others' post to build self image?

Let me contribute, what are you trying to convey in this photo? I can't see the ambassador, I can't see the product clearly, and I don't really know which Brand is the laptop from. Oh perhaps you want to showcase the red dress? Sometimes, it's better not to post than to post something that is of no use.

Please dont ask me to post my PC Fair photos to justify my comments, coz I won't.

I tried to refrain myself but I can't. I just need to vent it out.

How is photography at a zoo any easier than PC Fair? With the PC Fair, you have every preparation you need. You knwo the venue beforehand, you know the lighting, you know the ceiling, heck you can even guess how many people are going to be there. PC Fair every year has been the same.

Ceiling too high? There is such a thing called diffusers. In fact, lambency diffuser is meant for situations where you can't bounce light off the ceiling. Can't be bothered to bring one? Then don't complain about the venue.

I love going to the zoos. I love taking photos at the zoos. You have to contend with nature. Will there be sun? Don't know. Will the animals be sleeping? Don't know. Will they be doing something unexpected? Don't know. Not only do you have to fight with nature itself, now you have to worry about removing the man-made elements. The cages, the people in the background, the railings.

So, how is shooting at a PC Fair where you know all your challenges, and the models are willing to pose for you easier than shooting at the zoo?

And if you don't want bad comments, don't post your pictures. The best way to learn is through criticism, not just fancy praises "YOUR PHOTOS ARE WOW" because that one sentence taught you nothing about photography.

GO zio Go zio!

i actually kinda agree with zio.
Between a zoo and pc fair...i'd say pc fair poses the least surprise!
u KNOW wat to expect...to be prepared for THAT situation is up to u...
if u think u r very keng...then no need to preapre anything...
ive been to a bird park...almost LIKE a zoo...u cant actually predict wat u going to get there...
cloud...sunlight...the birds themselves all behaves differently...AND GUESS WHAT?
THEY WONT EVEN POSE FOR U!

so i'd say...if u suck at pc fair...u r most likely to suck anywhere else...
peace!

Man ur comments really make my day!!! rclxms.gif

Shooting PC Fair has minimal or should u say NO challengers at all compared to other aspect of photography. Crowds or location is always an concern in any event shootings esp if its indoors. Just like what zio says, u have to tend the environment or else u wont. Just like what bruce lee always say - "Be like water" .

Also like someone mentioned, as long that subject has boobs or pretty, that it, u got praised! But what aspect u want to share or show ur pics? Isn;t it the product, or just her boobs? doh.gif

That why i dont border going to pc fair now and that weekend i went to practice panning instead at GRAC (although my starters is remain the ladies blush.gif , well we r still guys right?) . Surprisingly there is very few photologs over there, maybe a huge majority went to pc fair sweat.gif

Btw TS, dont treat me i better than u, i got more criticism than praises here and i still learning. But its criticism that teaches u, not ego. That the beauty of learning, coz u wont know when it ends or what makes u have learnt or master enough. wink.gif

We encourage people to post more pictures here AND be humble plus able to accept comments to improve themselves NOT being a cocky person trying to act as if they are the best when their pictures are not even on par with what they claimed to be.

On the other hand, we are not in shooting range here. If you think that critiques are like shooting you directly to your face with a gun, then maybe you shouldn't post your pictures at here since you can't even live up with some genuine comments by the forumers here.

*
QUOTE(vikingw2k @ Apr 13 2008, 12:19 AM)

I cannot agree more ! thumbup.gif

Besides the self-proclaimed title, I think there is also another thing that TS should change : the title of this thread.

if you guys want good low light pics, sony a700+za 135 1.8 is really a good choice.

if you want even sharper than za, you may go for tamron 180 3.5
the more i use this combination, the more i like it.

IMHO, it's not hard to tell what a good photographer is....

One who has pictures that tell the whole story. Simplistic composition but with a lot of technicality to the photo. The technically is how the photographer imagine his photo to be before he even captures the photo. And the end result, is always what he portrays it to be. I also believe that compositions from a good photographer can never seem to be remade by another photographer. It's like a trademark. And usually this is the kinda photographer who gets flooded by good comments and yet he remains humble. And if anyone, no matter one who is new in photography or one who is not even a photographer, he'd accept the comment, as he knows that he is not perfect. He knows there is always room for improvement. He knows that photography is a never ending learning process, and that even if he has the best equipment in the world. His photos are nothing, if the things he capture is just plain ordinary or not what you'd expect from one who you would think is a photographer, let it be a pro or even a beginner.

I came across many photo galleries in lowyat with great looking photos taken by both pros and beginners. But I don't think this is one which is close to the ones I have came across.

I dare not comment on portraiture photos as I have never taken portraiture photos. I am more on landscape and just random shots.

But i'd say I like this composition best

However, I wish the guy behind wasn't there, then it really did capture the moment. The lady seem to be really happy, she might have got herself a good deal.

The other photos... I'd say composition needs to be fixed if you're really trying to capture the beauty of the ambassadors.

Happy shooting to all! thumbup.gif

Well, I can share one photo with a ambassador, but not in Malaysia, but an autoshow in Chicago.

I think that is the only shot with an ambassador from the autoshow. My main concern was the cars. laugh.gif

so much of crap in this thread.

All i want to say is , Good job TS. I can see u've done a very good job, if i hadn't know a better photographer in Subang than u , i'll still acknowledge u as the best.

I'm not biased, i sometimes dont like people to bash people around as if they are really good.

When someone posted their pictures, how bout u think of " how can i learn from his photography " , instead of " How do i bash him? "

Another thing, Use better word in critisizing. Maybe like " I think maybe u do this do that will make the pic looks better " , instead of " The pic No.1 is too ...................."

Maybe u should see other pros in another fields , how do they comment and critisize.

my 2 cents.
