Today, i got a suprise from P1, I got this letter on this afternoon, and you guess what's the letter about? It was a free give cash voucher from P1. RM20 valid for KFC or PizzaHut restaurant for being the first Wimax subscribers in Malaysia. Lol first time ever i got a cash voucher from an ISP company xD.

Hey guys. Do you think this is Wimax tower?

If it is only for online games, 20GB is more than enough. Online games does not chew up a lot of bandwidth.

I want to know how much has it drop? does it go below the speed they promised?
*
Well, it drop almost 60%.

For example,
1) normally the upload speed i got was 200-300kbps but recently i only got 5 - 40kbps. Promised upload speed was 360kbps (~70% of 512kbps).
2) Download speed could maintain around 170-180KB/s (~1400kbps) but now about 20 - 120KB/s and quite unstable (non-constant speed). And the connection will disconnected when it hit the maximum download speed.
3) DC quite (daytime and night) often even not in rainy day. When rainy day, totally not able to online.

lol? wat are u talking about?

How can low subscribers lead to higher ping? Should be more subsribers, higher ping la. But still its not the main problem that constribute to higher ping

Well...
Ping across country is about 500-630ms or even higher. Do you think this is normal?
Ping within KL already 120 - 230ms (mostly, especially at night time). Is this normal too?

Few weeks before, their ping only <110ms. But when more subscriber, the ping keep increasing.

At my office, in USJ21/8 got P1 WiMax.
The station just on top of our office.

Our neightbour office are using it, RM99/month.
He said very fast, stable using 1.2MB.
I guess still not many people are using it now...

We are using Streamyx 1MB, speed good enought so no need to change to P1. TM give us 2MB, when i check my router dsl signal.

If compare to streamyx, RM25+RM88 ( 1Mb ), i think Wimax is cheaper...

1 thing i want to tell is yesterday some1 ( theif ? ) was pecah the ground floor pintu pagar last night, but nothing happen to our office.
I think there are targeting the cable of WiMax. Just called P1 and ask them come to check because all casing are open up, and no cable inside.

Who know what is the cable WiMax using? Expensive? Fiber Optic....?

Can't really answer that question, can I? As it's subject to where you ping to and whether your destination is congested.

Try to ping to their own website page www.p1.com.my, if the ping time is above 100ms well, then you can be sure that's a valid problem there.

Screenshot and blast their careline lah ... posting on Lowyatnet also won't help you much tongue.gif

For those new subscribers, it's fine since refund is possible during the trial period. For those early birds, lol ... too bad ...

Hey. So I'm considering to subscribe to P1 W1Max and I'm residing in Setapak.

I'd like to know whether you know, if it's alright? Slow, fast and all that.

Anything bad / good you guys can tell me?

No one can tell you that, you have to try it on your own to decide. Fast/Slow is very subjective, some people compare based on the torrent speed, some people compare based on youtube loading speed, some people compare based on website loading speed, some people compare based on speedtest speed ... the speed also depends on the location of your place from the basestation as well as whether you are pointing the modem towards the direction of the basestation. Note that good signal doesn't mean you are pointing to the correct direction, speed and latency can cut by half if the direction is incorrect, that's why a good feng shui direction is crucial tongue.gif. You have to bring it and test it around the house to decide the best location with best speed and best latency. It could be inside the toilet also, you will never know. Note that, this is not a WiMAX limitation, it's more like the downside of directional antenna built in the modem.

So DIRECTION IS IMPORTANT!

Users comments are always subjective, trust no one but yourself.

*Note that you are not supposed to trust me either since I'm not a WiMAX subscriber, not yet LOL ...
