Here are some latency test on Wimax by south african users
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=119315 Most of them seem to be able to ping their ISP at under 100ms with good cases under 50ms while some of them over 100ms due to poor signal locations. I think factors influencing latency would be noise/interference and backhaul quality. |

did anyone check the price after 12m/24m contract, what the actually monthly price ?
do we need to renew the contract, or still enjoy the flat rate according the 12m/24m contract ? where is t&c P1 W1MAX for bandwidth ? any cap or throttle ? or truly unlimited bandwidth ? until today, none mention about the upload speed* oh did i misread the package ? the package of 400Kbps/700Kbps/1.2Mbps/2.4Mbps are not details enough, where is the upload speed ?? 64K/128K/256K ??? tips for user going wimax for user who want to BT/P2P/Gaming(FPS) stay with yr wired broadband, just remember the limitation on wireless if u can accept the quality BT/P2P/Gaming(FPS), go ahead with yr wireless broadband *even P1 W1MAX might allowed BT/P2P now, does not mean in future they won't block. hope i won't see user rant P1 W1MAX block BT/P2P This post has been edited by K for Ketamine: Aug 21 2008, 02:19 AM |

About their upload it's 512kbps if i not mistaken. I did asked about p2p when i was at their roadshow. They said the services are throttle for p2p. But doesnt have the data limitation for monthly. Anyway lets see who get to try out and tell in-details. I will keep update you guys after i get the modem and use it.
Now you can check the coverage through http://www.p1.com.my/Wimax/aspx/wimaxmap.aspx |

Will the W1max Microwave jeopardize our health?
I mean that “Health Effects of Microwave Radiation” I’m thinking kind of those waves can kill us? Microwave Radiation According to the United States Food and Drug Administration's Center for Devices and Radiological Health, a US Federal standard limits microwave leakage from an oven, for the lifetime of the device, to 5 milliwatts per square centimetre when measured 5 centimetres from the surface of the oven.[16] This is far below the exposure level currently considered to be harmful to human health. The radiation produced by a microwave oven is non-ionizing. It therefore does not have the cancer risks associated with ionizing radiation such as X-rays, ultraviolet light, and high-energy particles. Long-term rodent studies to assess cancer risk have so far failed to identify any carcinogenicity from 2.45 GHz microwave radiation even with chronic (ie, large fraction of life span) exposure levels, far larger than humans are likely to encounter from any leaking ovens.[17][18] However, with the oven door open, the radiation may cause damage by heating; as with any cooking device. Nearly every microwave sold has a protective interlock so that it cannot be run when the door is open or improperly latched. When injury from exposure to microwaves occurs, it usually results from dielectric heating induced in the body, the same heating that cooks food. Exposure to microwave radiation can produce cataracts by this mechanism, because the microwave heating denatures proteins in the crystalline lens of the eye (in the same way that heat turns egg white and so opaque) faster than the lens can be cooled by surrounding structures. The lens and cornea of the eye are especially vulnerable because they contain no blood vessels that can carry away heat. Exposure to heavy doses of microwave radiation (as from an oven that has been tampered with to allow operation even with the door open) can produce heat damage in other tissues as well, up to and including serious burns which may not be immediately evident because of the tendency for microwaves to heat deeper tissues with higher moisture content. For 1.2Mbps and 2.4Mbps the upload speed is under 512Kbps but for 400Kbps and 700Kbps package, the upload is under 300Kbps
In the end of this year, they going to released some smaller modem. More portable. Something like Celcom USB modem or whatever. Anyway, USB modem always giving a drawback to user that using more than 1 computer. Because you just couldnt plug it into router and do some connection sharing. QUOTE(Calvin871989 @ Aug 21 2008, 04:05 AM) If you register during the promotion period, the modem fee RM999 will waived without any charges. But you just need to give RM100 for the upfront, and others will be on the first bill. This post has been edited by Acrisius: Aug 21 2008, 02:00 PM |
