The syllabus is still the same?
Does it mean we need to revision everyday?

Not onlyForm 6, in any Form, the first step is to attend all the lessons and make yourself present in class because if you skip one lesson, you will have to learn it at least 4 times on your own. You see, when we are in class, we learn by listening and using our sight, writing skills etc to study.. this is like studying 4 times for each lesson..if you know what I mean.. Also have all notes ready for each chapter. Don't wait until the last minute because when you panicked, you are finished. When you have all things ready, your revision before the final exams will go smoothly..

By the way, the easiest paper is of course PA esp PA paper 1.. damn easy with 15 statistic questions which I'm sure all can do with a little practice..hehehe..Other science subjects are rather difficult, in my opinion and need constant study and practice.. Tuition, I think is a must unless your teacher is involved in marking the STPM papers...

For those who are going to enrol in form 6 classes, here is a very good website providing information(notes) that is highly relevant and excessively more than what you will learn in Form 6. This website encompasses almost all maths and science subjects except PA.

I would say it is very comprehensive compared to most reference books I have got.

THis is one real fact that one must consider. Entering form six means put 4x more effort on everything.
In my previous school, teachers started to act like lecturers. where you will be no more spoon fed. You need to find extra resources on your own. Do your own exercises. Teachers were preparing us to enter U bit by bit..

Didn't regret my Form 6 years. It was one of my best in fact among the secondary years.

True you have to work your ass off for it. Imagine chunking down 2 whole books of formulae for Physics and Math and 3 books for Chemistry. And remember a whole crap load of facts for PA. But you have 1 and a half years for that, plus prior to STPM itself you'll be taking a month off to focus purely on study anyway.

Took tuition for Chemistry and Physics. Good days, especially Chem (Pn Lee).

STPM was a sweet memory of 2005. I'm now finishing 2nd year in Mechanical Engineering, NUS. Locally they offer me UKM but I was only choosing between UM and NUS back then, choice was obvious. Btw I scored 3As 1A- (Math T of 2005 was terribly hard). shakehead.gif

Dear devilelle,
Why you said you would rather choose A-level at the 1st place?A-level is much more easier to score?
Isn't their syllabus is more detail and harder to score compared to STPM?

Of course more than form 6,it's a US publishing company.

Catch a glimpse of what you are going to study, you can refer to this website and I think it's more comprehensive and reliable compared to wiki or other reference websites.

www.answers.com is a good website too.

Never regretted i took it, actually proud that i took it although deeply regretting not working hard through it tongue.gif

2. Can share some experiences on your study? izzit really a MUST to study everyday for few hours?? shocking.gif
I never really did study much as i took STPM in KTAR = spend more time going cafe and play around than studying even though i do have some really good lecturers there especially chemistry...Study everyday???actually not really necessary, just make sure u pay attention in class, take your own initiative to find out about things that u are unsure or blur about and be prepared to work hard. STPM is not that dependent on memorizing than u think and is not as hard as you think it is.

3. What subjects should be taken in science stream?
This is a question that u should be asking yourself shouldn't you???you have to decide on your own which path that u wish to take. I took physics, chem, maths and GP coz i never took Biology during my spm days.

4. The most important thing, can I still apply for uni(such as Utar) if I din do well or sumore even worst failed in stpm??
Of course can if you are able to get reasonable grades. A cgpa of 1.8 already allows you to enrol into certain private universities. A fren of mine actually had cgpa of 1.8 yet still manage to get into 1st year degree at MMU. As told by my lecturer, if you think that you're really hopeless with a subject (besides GP, fail GP = die sweat.gif ), forget about it and concentrate on the other two and try your hardest on getting at least a C. That way you'll have 3 credits (that was the thing that unis look at, the amount of credits rather than your overall CGPA, thats how my fren got into MMU coz he has three credits while he absolutely flunked the other one). I sincerely hope you do not end up in this kind of situation however.

A-level has always been simplified, meaning they have removed parts that are unnecessary and negligible whereas STPM has always been increased in its "depth",meaning a lot of junks that you won't see in A level appear there. However, this junks do help you to understand further, that's why STPM students learn more...ahh just an assumption.

A levels is thinking skills. If you open a textbook in front of you, you still can fail your A levels. And certainly A levels is easier as their syllabus is shorter, remember binomial expansion, the graph sketching etc? In A levels they cut alot of stuff out of it. Even in biology, most of the chemical cycles (ornithine, urea, glycolysis , krebs) are not learned in depth, they just need to know the function, not the total process.

When you entering form six, you will feel very 'senior' among others, where egoS are high.
One thing, dont take things for granted during form six.

For STPM to be recognised by the UK University, Malaysian Gov had to increase the difficulty of STPM to be higher of that of A-levels.
That and some political reasons.
STPM > A levels(those who sat for it in Malaysia).

for me A-level is much more easier than STPM... my sis go for A-level and STPM at the same time... she used to be top student at school, guess what?? yeah she scored 4As in A-level but then 4Bs in STPM..... she use A level result to apply national university in singapore and STPM result to apply nanyang technology ... both get admitted... let me ask you... you want to study the easier way to get good result or you want the hard way... nowadays some of the form 6 subjects are in english, this is more or less like A-level... unless you are aiming for local university, then you go for STPM or else its just a waste of time...

Yes.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STPM
"STPM is internationally recognised by many universities, especially those within the Commonwealth of Nations as well as the United States and the Republic of Ireland. Most universities consider STPM results equivalent to GCE A-Level results."
