Ha.. ha.. as u said other bank wayyyy better, how sure r u ? All local banks r the same. Not to say I wanna sabotage local bank. It's their attitude.

Unless u work for foreign bank. They really treat their staff as their assets. U can perform u'll be recognised. May it be in term of position & monetory. U can prove ur performance, thei prove their sincerity with $$, just tat simple icon_rolleyes.gif .

It's worth working "half-dead" after all ur work is being recognised.

I will tell you guys my first day experience as a Mgmt Trainee which was yesterday.
I went to the branch at 8.45am.Was introduced to all the people there. Then the bank started operations at 9 am.I was told i had to train at operations level which is downstairs for 4 weeks and move up to credit for two weeks, after which i will be sent to a training centre located in bangi for 2 weeks.(ok no complaints)

So actually this was not a working kinda job,its more like a study course which you have to learn everything. But instead of paying for the course, now the bank pays you to learn.COOL! rclxms.gif

So i was given a full set of documents to show what i have learnt and have to tick at the box.So i was placed next to a officer at the front of the bank, just behind the tellers.Since he was so busy he could only teach me a little bit of here and there. But he was friendly. So practically, the whole day i spent observing what they did.But wow, seriously there was too much money lying around. Then after the bank closed at 4pm we ordered some food since the bank tellers which is the front line was very good today.See,we have a policy here that every customer must be served within two minutes if not a buzzer will go off and thats when it will be recorded. At the end of the month the BIG boss checks it and if not satisfactory,we all kena lah.I went home around 6pm which is considered early.

As a conclusion, everyone there was friendly and nice.Dont know how long this will last but at least its good.Managers were good but busy.I also managed to apply the Gold card CC.

I used to worked with HSBC HQ as a clerk before. And yeah, I can say everyone's in my dept are very helpful & friendly. mgt & non mgt all equal. The boss will treat us dinner whenever we need to stay for a long hour. HSBC will provide training roughly once a month to increase our knowledge on thier product. There is also a canteen upstairs where you can buy your meal & it's damn cheap. You can also enjoy the gym facilities there. And for guys, there are a lot of pretty girls too tongue.gif Increament is standard just like other bank. Bonus up to 1-3 months depends on performance. 30 days annual leave for mgt staffs rclxms.gif
I love HSBC icon_rolleyes.gif the reason why I left is because the pay in low(Due to I only high school graduated) than what I earned before & I cant live with that pay. I joined at first is because of the benefit tongue.gif

Btw, I like the service provided by CIMB bank @ KLCC. I've been there a couple of times & thier service is superb thumbup.gif Fast, helpful, friendly! Keep it up ! icon_rolleyes.gif

Bro, which branch are u in? That's heaven man...

Let me share with u my story

My first week at work is pretty much like yours. Read, observe and all. But i was assigned only to the credit dept. After that, i was about to start processing loans. BUT there weren't enough computers (!!!) so i have to share computer with my colleagues, who are some not-so-friendly aunties while waiting for my set of pc to arrive (i waited for months just to have my own pc at work. I'm not joking).

I rarely achieve my daily processing target. Cuz the phone calls and other miscellaneous things come in non-stop. When i settle it all and finally have the time to sit down and process, it's near 6pm already. So my working hours (and my colleagues') is normally till at least 7:30PM.

I go home not because i've finally finished all my outstanding work, but because i'm too exhausted, headache and HAVE to rest. But i can't really rest because the outstanding work haunts me day and night. Customers, lawyers, developers, marketing executives... All these buggers keep calling because their case is top urgent and wants me to give priority to. Sometimes i wake up in the middle of the night because i suddenly remember one case that someone passed to me 3 weeks ago and i have yet to do anything with it.

And my managers? they don't really give a crap about anything other than the figures. They have more pressure from the ppl above them anyway... The high Net Profit didn't come so easy you see.

I've lived a life like this for almost 10 months now. Learning and adopting myself into this challenging culture. Afterall, what's better than getting paid for learning? I paid almost 40K for my local degree learning uesless theories and histories man.

Anyway, good luck for your time in PBB. Let's together wish for the next training session to come faster smile.gif

By the way, i ain't taking leave tomorrow. Oh crap...

I'm one of the trainers at the Knowledge & Learning Centre. I'm glad you guys find it fun to come for training.
Yes work can be crazy and sometimes even unreasonable, but lets face it... work never really goes the way you want it to.

Every job in every organisation, be it local banks, foreign banks, or companies in other industries, each of them will have their own problems. They might pay you well, but they might have a lot of internal problems. You might have good colleagues, but a crappy boss. You might have a good immediate boss, but a lousy director. You might have easy work to do, but you might have office politics to deal with. You can escape. It's all about tolerance, and knowing what you can cope with. But rest assured, wherever you go, there will be problems.

I'm sorry some of you had very bad experiences, and yes I know how life at the branches can be sometimes. So do come for courses and relax. I'm sure you guys know you deserve it. Push for your 3 day mandatory training compliance and don't let them cancel your courses if you can help it.

Here's an additional tip, get your CA/Head to sign you up for Management Development courses (MDM) if you'd like a break from work and studying boring text books.

official working hour is 8.45 to 5.45, but for the "unofficial" working hour, depends on which branch u will be stationed in
if u are lucky, u can go back at 6 something
if u are not, the manager will tell u this "u know our working hour, but i expect u to show commitment towards the company". then u pandai-pandai-lah tongue.gif
and most of the time, it's not the working hour that worries u, coz if u enjoy doing ur job, u won't mind spending more time doing it. but if u do not like ur job, and u have to spend extra hours doing the things u hate, well, welcome to PBB tongue.gif
