I am traveling to Penang for a 3D 2N trip on a tight budget. Hoping to visit the following places of interest.

QUOTE
1) Penang Botanic Gardens (FOC)
2) Penang Butterfly Farm, Teluk Bahang (RM12.50)
3) Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, Leith Street (RM10)
4) City Hall, Esplanade (FOC)
5) Clock Tower, Pesara King Edward (FOC)
6) Dharmikarama Burmese Temple, Lorong Burmah (FOC)
7) Gurney Drive (Persiaran Gurney)
8) Kapitan Kling Mosque (FOC)
9) Kek Lok Si Temple
10) Khoo Kongsi
11) Kuan Yin Temple
12) Snake Temple
13) St George's Church (FOC)
14) Tropical Fruit Farm
15) Wat Chayamangkalaram (FOC)
16) Penang Hill
17) Batu Ferringhi's Sidewalk Bazaar
18) Tropical Spice Garden

A few enquiries to LYNers:

1) Beside the above list, is there any other interesting places to explore in Penang. Note: I love to discover nature.

2) Public transportation (buses, taxis) are they reliable?

3) As of 7 Nov 08, Penang Hill Train only reach up to middle station - Is it worth the trip?

4) I am also going to pack some traditional goodies from Penang including:
a) Nutmeg products
b) Traditional biscuits such as Tambun Pneah (淡文饼), Beh Teh Sor (马蹄酥), Heong Pneah (香饼), Pong Pneah (清糖饼), Tau Sar Pneah (豆沙饼), 咸切酥, Ham Chit Soo. [Famous shops : Ghee Hiang, Him Heang, Ng Kee Cake Shop, Sin Hock Seng) Any other good traditional biscuits in Penang?

Cheers!

rojak sauce if you come to BM.
n btw i think u can skip spice garden.. too commercialized, seems to be designed for foreigners and the entrance fee is very expensive.

Snake temple can be skipped too IMO.

Since u like nature... u should try climbing penang hill (Level 84) by using the tar road beside the entrance to botanical garden which should bring u close to nature...

Wat Buppharam is also a nice temple...can make special prayers there smile.gif

Wow! da Wat Buppharam @ Jalan Perak look like a mini exotic temple. Love to take some photos of the flower temple's arc and God idols.
