is red rock hotel nice and near to gurney??...gonna stay there next week

Dunno bout the rooms but the exterior was refurbished like last year or so. Not walking distance to gurney but if driving only like 5 min drive without traffic jam. Lots of hawker food nearby... so sure won't be hungry

Since u like nature... u should try climbing penang hill (Level 84) by using the tar road beside the entrance to botanical garden which should bring u close to nature...

Wat Buppharam is also a nice temple...can make special prayers there smile.gif

Anyone been boating around penang? in particular the west coast of penang? Any contact for boat rental? or blog on it?

Seems like an interesting idea to rent a boat and visit the secluded spots / beaches on the west coast of penang island.

anyone tried this boat chartering before?

Waldorf hotel is within the walking distance to some of the famous eating places in penang road.
Well known only to the local,  it is located opposite a blue mansion tourist site which is smack right in the middle of the town itself.
Around the area is upper penang road, line clear nasi kandar, late nite bak mooi and beef noodles.

correct me if i'm wrong.. but waldorf hotel is on leith street.. and its a reknown red light district. where u can see all those supposedly fitness centre tongue.gif

planning a trip to penang in august... i think 2nd or 3rd week before the merdeka celebration.

Any recommended place to stay in town? I'll be driving up with a GPS (hopefully). Going with my girlfriend. Hoping to find somewhere near town and easy access to all the happening places.

Added on June 12, 2009, 3:46 pmbtw, budget around 150 per night for hotel room... If can, lower still. Cos we'll be spending most of our time outside exploring.

If u wanna try the sri bahari road's kafe kheng pin - lor bak.. check out this coordinates in ur GPS
