QUOTE(may_saw87 @ Jun 3 2011, 12:30 PM) Peranakan Mansion.. again there's an entrance fee of RM10 per adult. (this i think it's weird... ) It is said that many Singaporean and Malaysian made tv dramas are filmed here. Why is it weird? |

Will be going to penang in the next two weeks.. checked out some shopping places
1) KOMTAR 2) Queensbay Mall 3) Gama Shopping Centre 4) 1st Avenue Shopping Mall 5) Prangin Mall 6) Straits Quay 7) Gurney Plaza Read that Komtar is quite old, and has nothing much to offer today. Just would like to know - are these places generic in nature, and should I make an effort to visit them all? As far as I know, (3), (4) and (5) are close to each other. Treating this visit as a relaxation, so don't mind splurging a bit. My (could be wrong) impression of night bazaars are of knicks knacks and little trinklets which I totally have no interest in. Any recommendations, guys? This post has been edited by sampack: Jun 6 2011, 02:16 AM |

Oh, gama is old? I see.. Probably more interested in clothes, and food though.I will be travelling with my folks, so thinking of bringing them to the Tropical Fruit Farm. Is this place worth the time? This post has been edited by sampack: Jun 6 2011, 02:17 AM |

QUOTE(sampack @ Jun 6 2011, 02:06 AM) Will be going to penang in the next two weeks.. checked out some shopping places *Note* 1st Avenue + Komtar + Pragin + Gama = can say all within walking distance to each other.1) KOMTAR - Quite old nothing much to see 2) Queensbay Mall - Longest mall , 3) Gama Shopping Centre - same as komtar 4) 1st Avenue Shopping Mall - nothing much a few branded brands is there like coach / cotton on . 5) Prangin Mall - lala & ah beng place , lot's of cheap stuffs there 6) Straits Quay - High class place to eat , nothing to shop 7) Gurney Plaza - Good place to shop around but be early to avoid jam in the car park area . Read that Komtar is quite old, and has nothing much to offer today. Just would like to know - are these places generic in nature, and should I make an effort to visit them all? Gurney Plaza + Straits quay not walking distance but quite close , only queensbay quite far away. Besides you missed out Bukit Jambul = Same as pragin mall but more <insert race> Midlands park 1stop = Great place to get computer gears + pirated DVD Island Plaza (near to Straits Quay) , nothing much to see but the quality not bad. Komtar is run down and slowly dying.I will be travelling with my folks, so thinking of bringing them to the Tropical Fruit Farm. Is this place worth the time? Gama is old but still ok as a small town dept store. If your folks likes durian and tropical fruits, next few weeks is the right time to visit Balik Pulau for durian, mangosteen, rambutans and Lemak/Assam Laksa wash down with freshly extract white nutmeg juice. |
