Hi all,

I need some advice here. I want to get a laptop for personal use on the usual surfing, watching movie, downloading torrents and a bit of gaming.

Currently I thought of getting either ASUS or HP. Not really a fan of Dell since my office is using the Dell laptop already. Currently there's a promo on ASUS Z99SR. It's about 3.4k ++ if not mistaken. I was wondering is it a good buy. My budget is 2.5 - 3.5k. But the funny thing is I can't find this model in ASUS website. So, I'm a bit concern on this. Please gives me some comments.

Thanks.

I have similar requirements as zack.

Specs : Intel Core 2 Duo minimum 1.8GHz
Operating system: Windows Vista home premium
Memory: At least 2gb
Monitor: 13.3, or 14
Graphic Card: Geforce 8400M GS or equivalent
Wireless Network Card: At least 802.11a/g

My budget: 2500 - 3500

I need to bring the laptop so DURABILITY is a main concern here. I am well aware that Dell Inspiron 1420 suits my needs but i'm not sure about the durability. So i would like to know if any brand out there like Lenovo, Toshiba, Fujitsu that offers similar specs below 4K.

Thank you.

You can go for HP DV series or Asus within that range. I prefer Vaio CR35G though because of the quality and design, but it cost another 450+. You can consider this 3 models, but I think Lenovo Thinkpad is the best so far in term of Quality and Durability.

With your budget, by far Dell is the best option.

If your budget is around 4k, I recommend Asus Z53SV. Go check the specs by yourself. Good luck. laugh.gif

Thanks for the information. Oh, and i forget to mention 2 things:

1. I want a non-glossy screen.

2. I will be studying in overseas so i wouldn't want to extend my warranty.

My friend also claimed that Vista Ultimate is much better. However, for a simple user, go for XP ba. biggrin.gif
