Brand : dell, compaq

Budget : not more than RM3k. RM2k ++

Size : umm...not sure bout dimensions, preferably light enough to bring around. college, wifi spots, etc

Spec : no lagging problems (use photoshop quite a bit), core 2 duo processor, longer batt life, less problematic, dvd burner, wifi, bluetooth, whatever else (i'm not good with specs)
oh and what's this i'm hearing about NVIDIA issue? please explain (:
open to any brands. can you guys list a few laptops? i'll check out the sites myself. just need some rough ideas. benq and asus i've been hearing about it, but not so much confidence in those brands. HP and lenovo has some good laptops i heard, but they're out of my budget right?

try Compaq CQ40 series, AMD Turion x2, Radeon HD 3450

or if u dun know/ dun like AMD, try Compaq CQ45, Core 2 Duo with GeForce 9300M i think...

CQ45 should get u slightly longer batt life compared to CQ40...

as for Nvidia problem, uncle Google will give u a lot of results... search for "Nvidia GPU problem"

Waaa..... Happy New Year!!! hehehe....

Wonder what it means for my new year when one of the first things i do in 2009 is come to LYN!

Hope can get some assist... Looking for a notebook for my mom with the following criteria:

1) size - not more than 13" (very important!!)
2) Processor speed - highest specs in the market (I think there is a new processor called quad something?)
3) RAM - highest possible specs in the market
4) energy saving features - long long long battery life
5 Cost - RM2 - 3K
6) excellent after sales support
7) disk space not really an issue as have own portable drive

For this, not considering a netbook, since the atom processor apparantly won't be fast enough. Notebook must be very travel friendly, but can support multiple programs, and can also support heavy-duty movie editing.

I think the best way to describe this would be a notebook which is like a netbook on steroids! flex.gif

Thankz... and Happy happy new year 2009!

hello guys, here's my short enquiry for laptop specs. It's for my parents to use, but i also share it for outdoor use at college.

1. Brand. - Any brand except Dell and Sony. (i have bad experiences with dell, and i know sony prices are cutthroat)
2. Budget. - RM2k min. RM2.3k max.
3. Specs. - anything suitable for work, a little photoshop, net surfing, medium gaming (at least able to play left 4 dead at minimum specs)
4. Size. - Any size

Sorry if my spec requirement sounds weird. thank you in advance for help! (:

EDIT:: about specs, I prefer windows XP support, but i just want to ask, if the laptop can only support vista, is it good choice to go for vista-only anyway? because windows 7 will be out next year, i scared will be outdated. i'm noob about this things, sorry if i assume wrong. (:

bro, i suggest u either adjust ur budget or ur expectation...

u want powerful but small laptop with long batt life but without spending much...

CPU highest is Core 2 Extreme QX9300... it's a quad core, but this CPU alone already cost more than US$1k...

if ur movie editing program support CUDA, u can try Asus N10J, Atom with GeForce 9300M GS

or Compaq CQ45, which has C2D and GeForce 9300M GS, but it's a 14" laptop...

how abt BenQ S42??? C2D P8600 (SSE4.1), GeForce 9600M GT (CUDA), max 8GB DDR2, hybrid graphic with GMA 4500MHD for extended battery life (approx. 4hrs, long for C2D, short compared to Atom), but it's a 14" and cost RM3.7k

Recommend me a notebook, RM2k-3k. Main purpose for entertainment and 3D modeling, 15" if possible.

Previously I've asked for recommendation for Dell Inspiron but someone recommended me Asus X59SL instead. So in my head I have two choices:
- Asus X59SL
- Dell Studio 15

But then I've read some bad comments on Studio 15 on sound, keyboard, optical drive doh.gif X59SL looks good. How's Asus support after sale ?
