Bag in a bag. The cheapo RM50 camera bag in my converse sling bag. Look good on the outside, but reaching the camera is a bit difficult.

What's yours?

You know what, your Converse camera makes a really good camouflage for your camera bag. People wont suspect you have an expensive dslr in the bag. This is very creative of you.

Here's mine. Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW, very common sight for DSLR bags.

You should use renewable ones like this

user posted image

So that when it's used, you can dry it up again in the oven to brand new again.

It has an indicator. Black when dry, purple when semi-wet, pink when wet. Pink edi, then need to renew the silica gel by heating it up in over for a few hours.

This is what i use for my bag.

For my gear box, I use this

This one can be renewed by plugging into AC outlet.

I'm using Lowepro Photo Runner, it's a belt pack and can be used as shoulder bag. Just a small size and can only fit 1 camera with mid zoom lens attached, 1 extra lens and 1 flashlight. I like this beg for the belt pack capabilities, can help to ease the shoulder burden.
Now eyeing on backpack camera bag such as Lowepro Primus AW wub.gif I need a bag to store other belongings as well as camera. Any suggestion?

went to YL today to get either fastpack 250 or 350. Finally decided to get the 250 as the 350 is too big (i'm skinny, the 350 is bigger than me). Unfortunately 250 out of stock. YL quote fastpack 250 for RM330. Then i went to LYP to hunt for the bag. I was shocked when i found out that few shops in LYP is selling RM500++

Any suggestions? I want a sling bag.
Any bag similar to Crumpler's?

Where to get those bags in PJ area?

Ya. I too was a bit confused about the reply. Shoulder bags, slingshots all sling types as long as you sling the strap over one shoulder or over your shoulder across your chest aka Lowepro Slingshot models. Backpacks lain cerita lar....

@ebernie

For me its sling bags all the way (Lowepro Slingshot, CrUMpler Million Dollar Homes) as Its easier for me to retrieve my gears.

But Lowepro has produced a backpack style which has the Lowepro Slingshot camera retrieval method which does not require you to take out you bag. Thats the Lowepro Fastpack... icon_rolleyes.gif

That Jenova All Weather looks like it was styled after the Lowepro Slingshot series. But its good in the sense it does not look like a camera bag which will come in handy when travelling to high Crime rate areas which prey on tourist. sweat.gif

Ha ha sorry. Meant messenger-style bags (like the million dollar series from crumpler). These sling over the shoulder too right?

I think of the slingshots as 'improved' backpacks smile.gif

Already own a large backpack which I leave in my room. This holds all my gear including a laptop. But need one to carry around when walking.

Yea, Improved backpacks sounds like a good description of them......

How many lenses you wanna carry? If you going to carry a medium zoom mounted and an extra wide lens, I think models like Toploader-Zoom AW from Lowepro can fit your bill. Or a 3,4,5Million Dollar home if you're not intending to carry all your gears... icon_rolleyes.gif

yes... AW is for that cover. The Primus AW is constructed by water resistant outer fabric but still have the AW cover to protect from rain and sand. So it will be nicer if FastPack comes with the AW cover too...

I am using Lowepro Fastpack 250. Bought for S$130 (RM300) from Singapore Cathay Photo.

Just for info, this bag is OK for you to travel with laptop and such but will not be enough as your overall camera bag as the camera compartments are not big enough.

And after laptop+camera+lenses... you will get shoulder pain within half a day.'

This is a photo of my bag now..

Cathay is like THE BEST place to hunt for camera Bags in Singapore. They have like a dedicated section in their shop for these.

Now cannot... anyway, it is a seperate compartment with lotsa hard padding, which at times, u feel safe with ur computer inside. It is a single side zipper compartment. The rest all have double zipper.

The not so syiok part it they don't have proper place for computer charger + power adapter + mouse... tongue.gif

Mine's the slingshot 200AW. Great bag for starters like me,very easy to get access to the camera compartment to take your dSLR out and start snapping. Thats what i love about this bag. The space inside can hold a 40D+Grip+kitlens,a normal tele lense,a prime lense and a flashgun.depending on your configuration though. I've seen people filling this bag with those uber expensive L lenses too. laugh.gif

The only downside of this bag i can think of now is theres not enough space for your own items,eg clothes, books etc.only can fit small items in the top and front compartment. And also after carrying the bag for a long time my shoulder starts to hurt.

Are you talking about the parts circled?

If you are, those are Sliplock loops.for you to attach extra pouches/lens pouches to store more stuff. smile.gif

Yeah laugh.gif those loops cant stretch enough to fit my tripod. haha.

Hmm i guess it wouldnt be much of a problem unless of course, you're always taking pics in heavily crowded areas. Anyway i guess only people with some knowledge about photography would know that Lowepro are camera bags laugh.gif

I use 3 camera bags. One for traveling, one for events, and one for times when I don't need to carry the bag around.

This one has 2 main compartments, Camera and Laptop (can fit 15.4 inch)
Heavily padded too. I got this for free but I think it is retailing at RM288 or RM388 (can't remember which price)

This thread reminds me about the problems i have with using backpacks to switch lenses. Was switching lenses when i dropped my 70-200 2.8L IS into the sand, mostly due to the fact i had to juggle between it, the camera body and the 2nd lense. It's a tough lense but i rather get something that helps me out here.

I looked at the Lowepro series of modular belts and harnesses, but i wasn't confident due to the reviews, and heck they looked flimsy. Also looked at Tenba and Vanguard, but they didn't offer anything modular. So it came down to Thinktank, all was good except for the fact it was freaking expensive.

Question to people here. Anyone use Thinktank before? How is their quality like? I put my stuff through alot of abuse, so everything else goes after raw build quality.

When fully loaded in full gear, the whole backpack weights in about 12kgs. Fits in most airplane hand carry compartments except the one from Berjaya Air. smile.gif

long journet? short?

what sort of equiptment?

if u hav crappy back like me and using a SLR system with random bits, get a backpack for slr but dont get something that goes on 1 strap, get the type that has 2(like the normal school bag type) this is because 1 strap type although gives u quick access, also put all the strain on 1 shoulder which takes a little training to get used to. or in my case=achy shoulder at the end of the day.

but it depends what u like anyway....

Good effort. But if you ask me, when you only got a camera without lenses and flash and other accessories, no need to be so troublesome. Just a padded bag will do. The camera is not so fragile.

I believe this man has the right idea.

One doesn't really need fancy padded bags for most intents and purposes. Kind of regret overspending on stuff i shouldn't have spent on tongue.gif

Only using my Lowepro to stuff my camera in when going on trips, most of the time i just use a simple sling bag.

Can anyone recommend a beltpack with a case that can fit a DSLR, 1 lens (also prefer that I can fit the DSLR fitted with lens without disengaging them everytime I have to put them back in), maybe charger, preferably able to place it to the sides of the waist, not in front or back?

Actually, does anyone use a toploader camera bag?

Emp's mini review of the of the Thinktank Urban Disguise 20.

Price : 100 USD
Purchase site : Thinktank Photo Direct
Shipping : 50 USD for 2 bags, 3 days arrival

Backstory.

I seriously have a problem with my Lowepro fast pack, it's not easy to access, it's large and it's only good for travelling long distance or over rough areas. In an urban or semi urban environment, it sticks out like a sore thumb. Worst of all is that you have to take it off if you want to take something out. So i figured out that a new bag was in order.

My Criteria was

- Easily accessible (sling or belt pack, sling preferred)
- Tough, very tough
- Some measure of water proofing
- High quality build
- Small, but big enough to carry a camera and 2 lenses, a flash, memory cards and other small niknaks

My housemate recently purchased a 40D, so he wanted to get a bag, jumping at the chance to save on shipping, we looked around for a good bag, checking out lowepro, kata and the gang. That was until i remembered Thinktank from researching it some time ago. We took the plunge aftering reading some reviews and good comments. Shipping by thinktank was incredibly fast and we got our stuff in 3 working days, emails from them were quick and prompt. The buying experience was good.

First Impressions

user posted image

holy f***, this is seriously well made, the body is made tough and flexible with a soft interior liner. The side pockets are purposely made soft and flexible to keep small things like memory cards in. The zippers are large, pull well and don't jam easily. The zips themselves have thick lines attached to them for easier access and are end sealed. The seams inside the bag aren't evident and the seams for the zippers are tighly sewn in an covered up. Everything is sewn down, even the shoulder guard of the strap.

The links and clips for the straps seem like coated steel and are extremely strong. Like most i've used a lot of bags throughout my life, but i used to have a Fujitsu bag that i absolutely loved due to it's robustness, the links and clips here remind me of it alot and that bag served me for a good 5 years (heck i still have it at home lol). The standard carrying handles look small, but they're very well made and sewn down tighly to the near point of inflexibility.

Carrying capacity

user posted image

This is a small bag. Thinktank makes them in 6 sizes, so there's always something that fit your needs. But for a small bag it's pretty good and flexible, the main compartment can fit a gripless semi pro DSLR with a small lens, the great part is that like a lowepro you can configure the insides of the bag using velcro attached panels. Thinktank goes a step up in this respect by including thinner and less padded panels for those who want more space with the original larger padded panels. All of the panels can be removed, even the side padding can be removed. You can even remove the bottom padding if you want lol. It fits my 70-200 2.8L IS, a 50mm lense, my flash, a blower and a bottle of Zeiss cleaner inside it without issue.

For those who have pro sized SLRs or BGed SLRs, don't fret, there's a front pocket that'll fit it (note : body only). The front pocket has it's sides folded, so it can expand to fit even the fattest of DSLR bodies. It fits my mark snugly without issue. The front DSLR pouch can be be secured via 2 methods, a strong clip (REALLY HARD TO OPEN) or via two velcro fasteners. I like this because it gives me the option to choose between speed and security.

user posted image

In addition to the main pockets, there are two smaller side pockets where you can stick memory cards and other small stuff. The top of the pocket is secured via elastic, so you can put small stuff in without the fear it'll jump out as you're running around. Nice little feature as i often find myself swapping memory cards as i shoot RAW.

Other

The Urban Disguise comes with a Raincoat. Yeap, a raincoat. It is conveniently included in a pouch inside the main body. So when it rains you can just pull it out of it's pouch and cover your bag up. The rain seal itself have an elastic waistband, so it fits snugly over the bag. Now, i've a dislike for small features like this because sometimes you can forget to put it back into the pouch and misplace/lose it. Well, thinktank thought of that too. They've included a velcro fastener that attaches to a point inside the pouch so you generally will find it hard to lose the weather cover. If you don't want the rain cover because it stuffs things, up you can easily remove it from it's velcro attachment.

Cool.

Conclusion

Lol it's up to you to come to your own conclusion, but so far i like this bag very much and i feel it augments my lowepro pretty well. Sure, it's small for the money you pay, but the build quality is impeccable.

Click here. There's info on where to buy the bags without getting them online.
If the places listed is too far away from where you are staying why not try buying online from shashinki.com?(don't need cc to purchase). I give two thumbs up for their service.

It's made by Tamrac. Model 5534. Adventure Messenger 4.

A sling bag type, mediumly padded. currently storing my 450D with 18-200mm sigma lense attached, 50mm f1.8 II, and my 430EX II flash. still have space for an extra lense. but for now, i just throw in a mineral bottle. like what chiggy does
hehe

those filters, remote release cable, remote control, memory cards, and extra batteries goes into the front compartment.
even with all these in, i still have space for something extra

later will post the actual bag, when have time to snap it

Godspeed Brand DSLR bag(Sling type)

Don't ask why it's called Godspeed because i myself have no idea! laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

user posted image

Fairly good, surprisingly it doesn't hurt your shoulder when you carry it. Slight gripe with the inner compartment as once i fit my E-500 inside, i have room for only one lens and one flash. However, there is an extendable pocket on one side. The bag itself is side entry.

Accessories:

Waterproof cover
Tripod carrying pocket
Removable pockets and velcro'd flaps.

user posted image

Currently to my configuration which is changing soon as i plan to not carry my DSLR inside anymore but instead on the top pocket. my 40-150mm is pictured inside. It's double-zipped but it's made for quick-unzipping so it's nifty. Only hitch is that the Velcro strap at the top doesn't position well if you're not careful so you end up not securing the sideflap. But that's a minor issue.

The bag also comes with a pocket for at the bottom for you to put your tripod feet so that it'll stop swinging about. Will post more pics if requested.

i'm thinking of going to disneyland, and thinking of bringing the slr along.

dun want the default bag that comes with the camera, too bulky, plus i only want to carry around just the camera (no extra lens, battery, charger, etc.). also might have to leave it on the floor / provided rack when i ride rides.

somebody said you can just put it in a normal backpack. is it true? what kind of padding do i need to get? x calar ke?

my first time traveling with the slr... kinda excited / worried lol.

and i also found this on the net, and wondering whether they have it here in msia:

http://www.amazon.com/Opteka-Camera-Holste...r/dp/B001CDYMM6

kinda neat, but it screams "SLR!"

You can enforce your normal bag with smaller bags to keep your SLR + accessories jumping about.

Come to think of it, you'll HAVE to enforce it with something. You can't just dump it all in the bag and hope they won't break smile.gif

I saw in afew posts back, there was one forumer who cut foam and put in his bag to secure it. Mayb you can try that smile.gif Cheaper alternative den getting a new bag just for the sake of one trip lol

haha yea i read / saw that. but that's too much of a hassle, have to wrap / unwrap the bubble wrap everytime. good one, though rclxms.gif

n yeah you're right, the camera's not that fragile, but then it must be handled with care as well. maybe i want to have a reason to buy sth for the trip just for the sake of buying. lol.

thanks a lot.

finishing wouldn't be comparable to crumpler but overall it is a very solid bag dont think a normal rainy day would get me into trouble, a raincover comes with it too! bought from a guy im not sure if he still sell it, i pm u his number maybe u can text him:)
yeah getting this bag is such a good deal, i get almost whatever crumpler gives me, just minus the logo and i can live with it laugh.gif no point getting a bag when it doesnt affect ur pictures laugh.gif anyway, UGPM

hey guys.. icon_question.gif i think this shud be the right place to look for ideas.. if for lowepro.. any bag that u guys will recommend? for..

D700 body + Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 + Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8..

any bag that can allow me to swap lens conveniently+fast without need to place the bag on the table or floor?

previously, i thinking of using S&F Deluxe waist belt + 2 lens cases (since when i m shooting, i don't need a slot to put my camera body)

besides the belt system which make u look like a suicide bomber.. any other Lowepro bag to recommend? how about fastpack 250? any idea?

thx smile.gif

Yo guys, any recommendations for bags for me?

I have a Nikon D60 + Nikkor 18-200VR + Nikon SB-600 Flash Gun.

Would prefer Crumpler brands, because they are super-cool!

+ currently using a black leather 'Nikon Professional' camera bag that I got free when I bought the D60 kit.

I use 3 camera bags.  One for traveling, one for events, and one for times when I don't need to carry the bag around.

Bag 1: Targus Racing Stripe Backpack (this one use for traveling)
This one has 2 main compartments, Camera and Laptop (can fit 15.4 inch)
Heavily padded too.  I got this for free but I think it is retailing at RM288 or RM388 (can't remember which price)

Hey there....i'm also a Targus Racing Stripe backpack with camera compartment user....my opinion is that if u wanna put some laptop adaptor etc, u can only use the bottom compartment.....keep all the camera stuffs at the camera compartment.....that camera compartment is huge enuf for 2 dslr bodies, a couple of lens, flashgun plus a few cleaning kits......they have pockets for the memory cards, batts, filters etc......

somehow i felt that bag is big enuf for everyday use...if u cramp too many things in that bag, it would be darn heavy already.......

Full review here:
http://crystallizedmemory.blogspot.com/200...dr-467-bag.html

In short, this bag is very versatile and it does not limit your usage. You can use it as a DSLR bag which fits a FF with lens and battery grip mounted (upside down position), an external flash, two lens and chargers/extra batteries in the camera compartment.

And with the laptop compartment you can easily fit a 15" laptop inside, although reviews said it can fit a 17" laptop but I never try b4 since i dont have any.

I am using it as a school bag + laptop bag + camera bag now, when I go to school (university not that many books) i put my papers and a file inside the laptop part, and small exercise books in the top compartment, and by removing one or 2 pads inside the camera compartment I can put bottle and some accessories inside.

When going for a photoshooting session, Kata Dr467 is just perfect for me to fit in my gears and a bottle, and other stuff like rubik's cubes (CUBES, not only one) and tripod...

Summing all these up it's a multi functional bag which only costs you around RM320 ( i got it from dadarouch in LYN, but now he has temporarily stopped the bulk until further notice), cheaper than lowepro. And KATA provides lifetime warranty if you register your bag online! I highly recommend this bag to my LYN fellows XD

I do not carry any camera bags when I use only one lens.
If I do, I use the free ones (those that people throw away)

because I don't wanna look like a weirdo with a big black ugly backpack

you have to check on the website which brand u like e.g lowepro, crumple, kata, bagman etc etc then only look for the place...I believe there is no such place that you can find wide variety.....

ps: crumpler bag is nice, check it out in klcc

I'm currently using Nova 5 AW... has been serving me well for over 2 years but I admit... I abused it to the max so it looks well-used on every part of the bag. Eyeing on the Stealth Reporter series too... perhaps the D550 or D650 AW. Either the Stealth Reporter or the Mini Trekker... still deciding. My current Nova 5 gives me aching shoulder when I lug all my gears out. sad.gif

Any recommendations for a backpack which can carry :

-Entry DSLR with zoom lens
-Another additional lens
-Flash gun
-Netbook (batt included) w/o charging adapter.

Preferably smaller size as it is more convenient for short traveling trips.

currently was using this 2 bags - crumpler 6 million dollar home & NG 5070.
but mostly use the crumpler biggrin.gif
crumpler for daily use, NG for when need to bring laptop n dslr together.

Guys,
Im travelling to India in a few months - want to take my D40, 35mm and 18-200 & Battery charger.

Can you recommend a bag ? It's for travelling about during the day, must be durable and be able to carry water bottle & personal items. No requirement for laptop. Very important - must be lightweight and not too attention seeking. Must be easy to retrieve the camera.

I have a small tamrac pouch that I use now, I put that in a backpack but its hard to pull out the camera when theres other things in the bag- vice versa hard to put back the camera.

Thanks!

My camera bags: I have 3 bags
1. My free canon shoulder bag.....very soft but nice to carry.
2. Naneu pro Correspondent 100 got it for free when I bought the camera. Very sturdy but after awhile shoulder gets tired
3. KATA 3N1 20. I like this the best....fits 2 dslr....1 or 2 more lens and nice to carry. very slick.

I bought mine from dadarouch in LYN trade zone for only rm320... postage included...
I even saw Plaza Lowyat got shop selling at RM459 >.<

BTW when i registered the warranty online it didn't ask for the serial number, so I wonder how Kata company knows whether my bag is registered or not shakehead.gif

My new bag, SNOPRO VAC. Good quality, water proof and dust proof. Can fit my 400D + BG + Kit + 50mm + Di622 + cleaning stuff. It also can fit a laptop but i put books and my paper inside instead. The manufacture claimed it can fit 2 bodies, a 70-200, 2-3 additional lens or flash. Quite nice in my opinion. Btw, they call it dumpling bag. sweat.gif

hey.. i was reading 15 pages of what people wrote, and i still cannot come to my a conclusion..

My equipment is,
body with kitties,
75-300
and a flash..

Im looking for a bagpack, cause i gave up my L size bagman because after lugging these items around in Singapore for 10 hours a day, my shoulders wanted to die.. So i decided that bagpacks should do the job.

Then i started thinking, if i wanna go out, might as well have a compartment for my laptop cause its useless carrying 2 bags..

I saw comments that switching lens would be hard on a bagpack, and might risk dropping the lens if u juggle around too much.. this reminded me when im in the Zoo, i kept switching between the kitties and the zoom because, i wanted to take pictures of myself and friends and at the same time, i want pictures of animals.

So my bagman served me well there. But when it comes to carrying all in one shoulder, it kills.. i dont want to have the same condition.

So i actually came to 4 bagpacks.

- Targus
- Kata 467
- lowepro (dunno what model but the one that can fit lappy, flipside or fastpack forgot di)
- Bagman snapshot trekker

so the accessibility for lenses are how on these 3 bags.. I actually like the kata. I dont mind hooking the bagpack infront of me, but since it opens out, can see properly ah? when u wanna take lens and stuff..

any guys wanna help? =)

of course i got budget.. hehe.. im looking at 300 - 350MAX 300 already bursting my budget already.. if i can get cheaper the better

bagman is 260 from mitmivec, i dont midn the pricing tho, but how is it like? taking out the lenses and stuff.. is it hard?

My bag. smile.gif I prefer sling compared to backpack in term of accessibility. smile.gif It's a hassle for me to grab my equipment from the bagpac.

First of all, it's not bagpack, it's backpack smile.gif
For the Lowepro if u want the one that can fit a laptop, it's Fastpack 250 & 350. I've used Lowepro Fastpack 200 before, the model that do not have laptop compartment. The bag can fit my 1000D+BG+18-55+55-250+50+430exII nicely and still have some space to spare. The top compartment quite spacious and u can put all miscellaneous items in there. On the side also got place to put water bottle. U can access your camera compartment like this:

user posted image

so i would suggest Fastpack 250 for you, other brand i can't comment, never use and my friends also use lowepro only. got mine from mitmivec rm340. for fastpack 250 maybe will cost u more. good luck biggrin.gif

The Bagman looks pretty good in terms of carrying, not as quick to deploy as the fast pack, but it carries a laptop and camera gear well enough. Pretty popular too, i rang mitmivec last week and he was all out of stock.

pOOR Fella.. ok I try to answer you as much as I can. I own a Lowepro FastPack 250. I've traveled with the FastPack to Shanghai & Beijing (China) and Bangkok (Thailand) with it and I guess i'm sufficiently qualified to give you an user's field review. I have a 12" laptop which I slide at the back of the bag and the lower compartment houses my Nikon body, a fast 80-200mm zoom, a 18-70mm zoom and a SB-600 flash. Every year I would bring my bag to the local MotoGP at Sepang too, as well as a few weddings which I've covered so far.

Carrying comfort. Weight wise, it was bearable and comfortable when fully packed. the straps are generously wide to distribute the weight around. I have a Crumpler the Moderate Embarassment single strap laptop bag and is not as comfy as the Lowepro. However... something that you wont realise when trying it at the shop on only during field use you will realise it is that the belly strap can rub against your arms considerably when walking. At first you will notice it, but after a few good hours in the heat, the belly strap can get irritating and will cause chaffing on your arms and elbows. I'm not a fat guy either that my sides will protrude out but this is something that bothers me.

Heat wise.. hahaha.. it was summer in Shanghai and I remember sweating profusely. I guess this is relevant if you're planning to carry the stuff with the LowePro in tropical weather like Malaysia, the bag can get hot on your back. Within 10-15 mins of walking, the heat builds up and your t-shirt will be soaked with sweat. The design of the bag does not draw sweat away and it doesnt help being black colour too.

Function wise, my biggest No 1 gripe is that the 'fastpack' feature which is the zip doesnt open or close smoothly, especially when going round the corners. My bag almost always 80% of the time gets stuck at the corner and it takes some effort to pull it round to open the bag. I believe the defect is in the bag's design when there's weight in it, the shape of the bag gets distorted and some how folds the zip at an awkward angle.

Feature wise in terms of ability to carry & protect stuff, I'd say very good. Good padding all round especially at the key areas to protect your precious stuff inside. I've got it packed full of stuff before and threw the bag around a bit and still it was ok. Lots of nice large pockets and

Security. Could be better. Although there is a flap that locks down the zipped compartments, the zips are fastened with loops only. Places like Jahtujak Market (Thailand) will attract pick pockets and when you're busy shooting away with the bag on your back, it's common to find your zip opened by some fella. I need secure loops where I can slide a small travel padlock on. Steel loops would be better, but while the fabric string elastic loops will deter the petty thief, it wont be good enough to discourage a desperate thief.

wahh.. hands tired... hope this helps.

I got this bag from a forumer here... search the forums, its called naneu pro alpha L

i LOVE this bag.. fits everything..

Side view of the bag, front zipper fits a laptop, back zipper fits all accessories
user posted image

Back view of the bag, zip opens up at the back. I dont have much gears, so itll fit my gear very comfortably.. my 75-300 and flash fits in there perfectly.. You can fit a body with a 70-200 attached..
user posted image

front view, loads of extra pouches to dump in all your accessories
user posted image

Plus side of this bag is it carries alot and is soooo comfortable..
downside of this bag, well to me, because i like the lowepro fastpack where the gears are accessible from the side, this one lets me take out the gears from behind.. only good thing is, for security's sake, its good to have the opening at ur back..

I'm using a Canon bag which came together when I bought my camera.

user posted image

Just enough for my 1000D, lens and a mini water bottle smile.gif .

If I had to travel a lot, then I will put the bag in my old school bag.

user posted image

Going to buy an external flash. But dunno if it can fit in the water bottle slot sweat.gif .

Thinking about buying a proper backpack. Any recommendations? Preferably under RM200 & can carry tripod tongue.gif.

The thing is, i am trying to find out what is the market price for that bag.
I got it at Lowyat at RM215, the price tag was at RM560++

But I "THINK" I got lucky with my price, coz all the seller was bz and the boss walked over. we chatted a bit for Canon crumpler bag and he quoted me 189 for it. Then while i was leaving, i saw that Winer bag and asked him the price before i saw the price tag

The boss selamba told me RM219. I got shocked, coz its like, 70% off from the price tag? But i went off and came back later, all other shop was selling at least 300 for that bag.

So i went back, but boss not there. Asked the salesman for price. He quoted me RM330. I told him his boss quote me RM215 and the seller was trully shocked (either that or he is a damn good actor)
He even call his boss to double comfirm price, but his boss say he MIGHT have gave off that price. Then the salesman said, only he can give u that price. Coz his boss told him, cost price is RM300. Thats the lowest price they can sell.

Anyway - Grandfather story fiinish, If you are going to get this bag. Or anybody have this bag. can you get back to me on the price you guyz got it?

RM350. Yea, can hold tripods.
The thing I like is that I can use it for casual.
Can't fit a lot of gears in.

Circled is the part to hold the tripod.
Tested by shaking around only. Quite firm.
Haven't actually gone out to use.

Removable equipment pad.
Mainly is for my 450D with Tokina 16-50, Canon EF-S 55-250, Canon Speedlite 430ex II

It fits the Macbook Pro 15" comfortable so I think the XPS 16" should be able to fit in as well.

I use the UD20 (i now use it for generally everything, from stuffing it with HEAP ammo to putting snacks in), and it will fit all of the above, so the UD 30 should do just fine.

You can fit the camera body and it's attached lense into the main bay, the 70-300 beside it with the 35mm, the flashpak can go into the side pocket, and the other side pocket can take in a bottle of water easily.

Anyways i use a new MOLLE style carrying rig for my camera gear into the bush, since the PALS webbing allows for the attachment of nearly any compatible accessory on the fly, it's bloody easy.

Don't they provide reserve service?
I think you should do that.
In case, they're out of stock again.

Maybe she's trying to earn more? Haha.
Better ask around for the prices first.

Yeah.. I've thought of that too .. I actually try the 7MDH before and I personally feels is a bit too big for me to carry around so I most probably would go for the 6MDH

never try/test the crumpler bag yet,
but if i have the below item, which bag will it fix??

Nikon D80 with MB-D80 grip attach with kit lens
sigma 10-20
Nikon 50mm 1.8
sigma 70-300
and a sb600

will a bag fit this all??

will any bag which just fit a D80 with grip and sigma 10-20 attach??
Mind to suggest??

main concern is my body with grip, most small bag will not fix body with grip, currently using lowepro mini tracker. Find it too bulky when want to travel light.

Thanks

yes i think 7MDH is big enough to fit all your item. another alternative is using Lowepro Inverse 200AW, you can fit in your camera+grip+lens nicely.

Anyone know where to get Crumpler Jimmy Bo in Malaysia? (other than UK)

using it now, not able to give you a review but just my personal experience.

is a great backpack, great for travel/hiking or carry your equipment for a long time.

not for casual outing.

same goes to most of the backpack type camera bag.

selinix: Thanks a lot!

Isepunye: Minitrekker is big enough to fill up your whole collection, but there is no separate area for daily item like cloth or misc things. travel and hiking best to get bag like lowepro fastpack, lowepro rover, tamrac adventure type of backpack

Got it off quite cheap from my normal supplier.

You know what, your Converse camera makes a really good camouflage for your camera bag. People wont suspect you have an expensive dslr in the bag. This is very creative of you.

Here's mine. Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW, very common sight for DSLR bags.

guys I need a slingbag to fit a D90 (perhaps with BG in the future)+18-105mm lens + di622 flash +50mm 1.8+ accessories. 7MDH comes to my mind but it's quite expensive for me lah. Rm400++ although it's good in quality and lifetime warranty.

I saw there's this bagman CA05 L size which has the look of old design of 7MDH. Anyone used before? How's the build quality and padding quality?

Bought a replica 7MDH, looks & design & material everything exactly like 7MDH, but without Crumpler logo on outside.

Although it has a Crumpler zip inside. I paid RM150 only tongue.gif

Even the stitching & buckle also same as 7MDH laugh.gif

Guys, any recommendations for a combined notebook+dslr bag? Preferably a shoulder bag. Something like Lowepro's Classified 250AW but not as big.

Gear is basically just a 13.3" laptop, body+grip+lens, 2 more lenses + 1 flashgun.

I don't think there is a distinct comparison to show which is better, both brands have good ones and both have ugly ones. All suits people's needs (or else why they bother making it anyway right?).

I own both a Lowepro and a Think Tank, the Think Tank for a roller bag and the Lowepro for a bag pack. Previously I got Think Tank as a roller bag because they didn't sell the Lowepro versions here in Malaysia but now my friend has the new Lowepro (Pro Roller x100) which she bought from US and it is damn good as a roller bag! If I saw this one first, I would have bought it over my current Think Tank Airport Airstream.

Hi, i wanna ask again...

For the belt system, the lowerpro or think tank photo is faster and comfortable?

other ppl's opinion frm the web are, think tank photo. as it allows the modular pouches to swing here and there.. bt the lens changer is not as protective as lowerpro's

I saw the replica being sold during DCIM, RM135 if not mistaken. Looks real to me, but the sponge a bit soft though. But for the price you're paying worth it I guess.

Added on May 22, 2010, 9:33 amThinking to get a small backpack that fits a small netbook since my current Flipside 400 doesn't have compartment for netbook. Needs to be able to fit 1 body + grip, 70-200 f/2.8, 1 extra lens and 1 flash. Any idea? I'm quite interested in Think tank's urban disguise 35, but kinda pricey at RM500+.

I'm contemplating getting a Crumpler Million Dollar Home, but I'm not really sure which. Looking at 6/7/8, since 5 and below are too small. I called Crumpler in KLCC up to inquire but they told me they only have the 8 Million Dollar Home right now...

I'll be fitting primarily: either 24-105mm or 70-200mm mounted on EOS 50D, the other unmounted lens and a 580EX II flashgun inside. Extra space is a plus, since I could be carrying around an extra macro or 135mm at times, but it's not a must.

What would be ideal? Is the 8MDH a huge boost in space from the 7MDH and worth the extra premium?

*
Speaking from my personal experience testing the Crumpler 5, 6 and 7MDH here. For your setup, you will need a 7MDH or above. I can confirm right now, as other online reviews have shown, that the length of the 70-200 vertically rested is just nice the height of the 6MDH's internals. So if you MUST have your 50D attached to a 70-200 in the bag, you'll need either the 7 or 8MDH. I personally went for the 6MDH after testing all equipment to snug fit because even though I would've appreciated the extra space in the 7MDH for an extra RM50, I found that even the 6MDH is already a wee bit large to be lugging around as my walkaround bag. Plus the fact that it's a sling bag, so weight can be a real issue to your shoulders. As for the comparison between the 7MDH and 8MDH, there is a larger difference in size compared to 6MDH vs. 7MDH. But for your setup, the 8MDH would be pretty excessive, and the difference in pricing is also more significant compared to the 6MDH vs. 7MDH. I myself have configured my 6MDH to fit a 500D + grip + kitlens facing down, 55-250, 50mm, 580EX II, Raynox, 2 chargers and a rocket blower, with slots remaining for small booklets and the mesh area for extra memory cards + batteries.

I'm currently using a 7MDH, and it won't fit the 70-200 F2.8L mounted on my 40D comfortably. I could extend the buckle strap but it would make my bag look and feel awkward.

From what I've seen, you can mount the 70-200 on a body and fit it in the 8MDH nicely. smile.gif

I see, thanks for the invaluable advice, Samanoske Akechi and pengster.

I forgot, my 70-200 is f/4, not f/2.8.

I'll call Crumpler again and ask if their stock for the 7MDH is coming in anytime soon, otherwise I'll just go and see the 8MDH for myself and decide. I just like the idea of a bag that doesn't overtly look like a camera bag.

I've seen the 8MDH when I was shopping for my 4MDH, and it's a HUGE bag. Kind of hard to explain, but ... I'm not sure it would fit international guidelines for hand baggage on airplanes -- that kind of size.

My first DIY camera bag.

1. find a suitable bag
2. get partition board & foam paper from Daiso
3. built your own desired partition
4. wrap it with foam paper
5. Done

This is first experimental therefore it's not clean and look messy.

Can ka like that?

the protection might not be enough dude,
take good care of your camera and invest in a proper camera bag or add more protection to it.

Hope you don't mind about my comments.

Originally was thinking of getting a domke, but saw that this was selling at DCIM. Got it for 370. This is the large version. Shashinki is selling it at RM 449.

It will fit your gear. I will upload the internal photo later tonight. The gear that I carry with this bag as below:

Pentax k7 with battery grip + 16-50mm
Pentax k10d with battery grip body only.
Tamron 90mm
Flash
SMC Takumar 135mm
Pentax A 50mm.

Tumpang tanya a bit... any nice notebook+dslr bag to recommend?

Something as light/small as possible but still can fit a CULV notebook + a small dslr with kit lens + the associated charger/adaptor.

Also must match a suit tongue.gif

So far looking at a 7MDH

Mrs. Sniper points at the 550D.

Problem is that unless I got a nice travel bag solution, it's gonna be hard to lug around for my biz trips which requires a lot of custom checks, regional flights in small aircrafts, trains and metro rides.

I dont think 7MDH have a notebook slot bro. Best alternative is to get a notebook sleeve and place it at the rear end of the bag.

But, the partitions will not hold well coz there won't be any velcro contact on the rear end.

Deodorant, nice interesting red color pouch there with 2 small compartments. What bag is it actually? Price?
Seems just nice for a small telephoto lens + 50mm, or extra lens + flash.

Couldn't seem to find the similar bag from Crumpler or Bagman's site.
Anyway Crumpler's site rocks!

I've compared 467 versus Fastpack 350 before, somehow the quality of 350 seems more robust to me.

Noob here. Just getting into the hobby. Need advise from all the sifus here.

Will be going to the world expo in Shanghai next month. Expect to be walking there from 10am till 11pm. rclxub.gif

Looking for a comfortable backpack that can carry a tripod(will be taking night pics). Need to be weather proof too. (scared it rains). If posible can access the camera without taking off the bag. blush.gif

What do you guys recommend? Not sure budget. Hopefully less that RM500? blink.gif

Thanks.

Posted this is Canon thread but thought I can get collective response from other users here as well... smile.gif

Need a bag recommendation for my cheapo gears.. sad.gif

Wanna nicely fit :
-550D with batt grip
-15-85mm IS USM
-50mm f1.4 USM
-Tammy 70-300 VC USD
-1 flash unit

I was looking at these:
-Crumpler 7MDH
-Timbuk2 messenger
-Thinktank Retrospective 10 (or 20)

or cheaper alternatives:
-Bagman messenger (Large)
-Fake Crumpler 7MDH
-Lowepro Passport Sling

Any comments or recommendations? The challenge I'm facing is the battery grip. Its so difficult to find a bag that can fit the grip and also not cost a bomb.

^ Thinktank Urban Disguise 35 fits them in easily.

It can fit a D90 + grip, 70200 f/2.8 attached, 16-35, 50mm, SB900 flashgun and a 10" netbook.

Finally got the bag with the criteria I've been looking for! Bringing my Flipside 400AW to wedding dinners etc looks very clumsy :S, so found this bag which looks better for such event!

The Think Tank Urban Disguise 35,

I've not put my gears in, got it yesterday night and didn't had time to play with it sad.gif. But should be able to fit 1 netbook, d90, 1 tele lens, 1 uwa lens, diffusers, blower etc.
*
I use this too. Put 2 bodies, 80-200/2.8, 17-35/2.8, 50/1.4, 2x SB800 and a netbook in there. It fits, but your shoulder breaks.

I got my UD35 at 300+, but that was almost 2 years ago. I believe TT has increased their prices a few times already since then, should be 400++ closer to 500 by now.
