Hmm i need to ask about the connection line in Australia, i have no idea which internet company my owner used but he did say it was ADSL 2+ and unlimited, which mean i could download all the stuff i want, but...today one of my korean housemate told me i misunderstand the owner, he said the owner true meaning was it is limited and i cannot exceed over 20GB. doh.gif After that, i got abit piss off cause sometime the owner talk english i do not understand at all. Worst, He is from China, well every country has it own slant, i do not mind that but talking to china ppls with chinese and english, it is very hard to understand either one of them. =.="
Anyways, anyone care to help me out? cause right now the internet connection line very slow, unlike last 2 days ago i got around 200kbs, today i got like 3-4kbs. Holy shit it is worst than streamyx.
Added : I've been here for like two weeks, i saw alot of asian girl more than guys... weird where are they?? Are they at home playing games, psp, DS. laugh.gif

u should be lucky u even get 20gb. some of us dont even get that luxury. im stuck with 5gb.
alot of malaysians complain about streamyx and boast about how much they download per day ( OMG i download 30gb today. im cool shakehead.gif )
i think these ppl might not survive in australia ( capped land )
i believe most of the internet packages in australia are capped. so good luck managing your internet usage.

That is so true. Cos in Aussie, all their internet plan have dl limit of up to 60GB the most. Once you reach the quota, then it would slow down. I think it is sufficient for surfing the net, chatting with friends, do assignments, facebook and stuff but dont expect to dl movie, tv show or songs.

I think they wan to prevent like copy right issue by illegal downloading.

Hay guys, if i wanna rempit in australia, and i don't have an existing motorbike license (i have a Malaysian driver's license and an IDL/International Driver's License). Thus how does i import malaysian phenomenon to Australia?

Car is out of the question, i can't even afford a lousy one so rempiting seems good.

I know i know, harder to handle among other things, but still it's pretty much cheaper than getting a decent car and heck i'm itching to learn something new. I'm planning to get good training to something above 300cc due to fact my housemate has an IDL for a heavy bike, so there's an advantage to it. Might be going to the driving and riding school along Ruthven street tomorrow for a consult.

I doubt he has 20gb on his own, it's more likely 20gb shared among all his other housemates. Like someone here has mentioned, whenever "unlimited" is used in oz context, it usually means getting your speed reduced to 64kbps once you exceed the quota. However, for certain packages you don't get charged additionally for that, so technically speaking, "unlimited" is still true to a certain extent.

This is where your internet usage management skill comes in handy, what I did was to keep all my downloads on hold until the end of the billing month. When it's like a few days before billing day, just download with all the bandwidth you have left, that way your normal daily internet activities(web browsing, msn etc) during the month would not be affected.

It's because Australia has a poor Internet backbone infrastructure due to years of government neglect and Telstra monopoly. The cap limits ensure residential users do not choke the limited bandwidth the ISP controls.

If you want greater bandwidth, there are always enterprise grade plans, but be prepared to pay a huge premium (why would you need that much bandwidth anyway? Go legit once in a while).

The Unlimited plans are usually governed by a "Fair Use" policy. What this policy dictates is that you are expected to keep your average usage within reasonable limits or else you may incur additional charges or speed caps once you abuse the "unlimited" capacity.

Korean girl. China man owner. 20GB cap. ADSL 2+ which sounds like cable. Plant, are you staying in Woolloongabba?

Anyway, welcome to the land of capped internet. Where "unlimited" means you get shaped to 64k.

ya man, seriously when they say no limit cap it means reduced speed.

sry, all the above except administration, i prefer a secular goverment and of course an efficient check and balance agency that is independent of the goverment like an onbudsman system. anway brunei health care is giler good, last time i went to a private hospital in Damansara visit my grandma, and this brunei's women was having an operation there and she stayed in a 5-star hotel all paid for by the goverment, anyway she was a nice lady, of course brunei could afford that since they have a low population and not to mention none of theirs citizen pay income taxes, now imagine sarawak with all those hydro energy and also our 'virgin' land that's suitable for palm oil. Man ...surely our people could be better off without the west, anyway 'he' stayed too long on power ...... and beside he rule and divide, headache la sarawak politics, even the Iban's can't seem to work together.
Anyway i read the age newspaper today, and the Monash University VC was complaining abt the goverment scheme abt getting rid of full-fees for domestic student and replacing it with HCES scheme, and also he point out regarding losing international students to other countires because of the Vic. goverment refusal for public transport concenssion rate for international students there.

haha now you see my point about victoria need to have concession is about to be right rolleyes.gif laugh.gif
you know victoria state is basically dying in term of business and economic pie.

strong industry in finance/banking but reduce lots of manufacturing industry. Part of their income also come from Intl student al over the world and migration ground for most TR who just arrived.
Look at the big picture, if Victoria to allow concession to Intl. student without the matter of discrimination issue, it will boost the education system in Victoria funding better and create more job-related industry to R/D to other states in Australia. Melbourne can be leading role, but it core of income is dying, manufacturing shifted to China, Vietnam etc etc.
nothing much is offer from agriculture and defense doh.gif rolleyes.gif

Actually I still think streamyx sux. So what if there's no cap on download, the speed is so horrible, you might as well cap it. I get a lot more here than I do in bolehland even though mine is capped at 150GB, i hardly reach 100GB per month. I can download a whole 40ep hk series in less 12 hours if the seeds are good, in bolehland i'd take me a few days
