I'm doing engineering at ANU. We have a relatively small number of students compared to UNSW and Melbourne (about 250 this year, mostly locals) but I'm pretty sure our program is just as good! Engineering at ANU is actually a systems engineering degree - you get to major in one or two areas that you're interested in but you also take courses outside that area. I think it's great.
We also have a engineering reseach and development scholars program (for people with UAI 98++) in which you get to conduct your own research in a field that interests you with the guidance of a mentor (one of the lecturers).
Oh and our fees is significantly less than that of UNSW and Melb Uni
The downside to coming here would be that there's nothing much to do in Canberra. Haha. But hey, ur here to study so I guess that's actually a good thing. And Sydney's only 3 hours away if u ever need your big city fix

Any job recommend for new students like me in melb? Plan to get one for the mid sem break. I am from RMIT and this is my 3rd month in melb.

Besides, I experience broadband line shaped in my 1st month. Omg, waiting ages to open a site. My fren told me it is only 64kbps but i feel it's worse than dial-up line. And the landlord is charging 5 bucks for extra 1GB

  I'm new to this forum, but I have read through all pages in this section.  Finally, I found someone who mentioned in depth about ANU    I received an offer from ANU and considering to join it.  As I may need to take study loan (finacial constrain), so, i studied the cost of this "investment".  I would like to seek for some valuable advice.  How is the Engineering in ANU as compared to other uni in melb and sedney, as many seem do not prefer ANU...    Is the graduates there marketable?  I too much worry that I get jobless  when graduate ... How is the aberage pay there for fresh grad engineers? Too much worries 

caedus : stick with the normal package. i was a staunch supporter of iinet until they shafted me. what was supposed to take between 10-20 days became 10-20 working days, and in the end one month until my naked dsl was connected. now i'm finally on naked, how i wish to be able to revert back to the normal package where u have a landline to call any damn call centers in the event of screw ups. wasted a total of nearly 3 hrs on my mobile calling for help.

besides, the quota packages for naked dsl is pathetic.

i have skype for international calls, plus i dont use the phone much. i've previously been on iinet, but not on their naked dsl. their norm used to be between 1-3 days in the past, and the phone lines werent congested. naked dsl changed all that, and cos of oversubscription, the quality of service dropped as well.

well i guess to each his own, and clearly the packages are there for a purpose. to me though, i think it's much better to stick with the traditional packages.

Yea... well, as long as they're still better than TMnet in almost every way... I'm a happy camper

Melbourne is no 1 place for Malaysian student and Sydney is no 2. And compare with universities in Sydney, UNSW has the most student. Huhu.

Anyways, referring to a forumer who still contemplating on pursuing engineering in ANU, if you have the means go for it. How much loan will you take? 100% for 4 years? If that is so, I think its better for you to study in Malaysia instead. Unless you plan to work in overseas country. If you're going to go back to Malaysia to work, just forget it. It does not worth it all.
