wat i learned from others who're in reno line is that, standard price range for laying tiles (mat + labour), say, for the case of procelain tiles, is about rm 5.xx per sqft for 2X2 size; rm 3.xx to rm 4.xx per sqft for 1x2 size ...

thanks IGaX. I've checked and if std labour cost is about Rm3.xx - Rm4.xx, plus the tiles which is bout RM4, it will turn out to be RM7.xx - RM8xx, which is not THAT far off.

Of course I will further nego once I engage whichever contractor. But honestly, this quote of RM9psf is the cheapest of the 4 contractors I got thru fren/relatives. Isit bcoz im gettin those from KL/PJ. Apparently if i get Klang contractor will be much much cheaper.

Sorry for some lack of info previously ... i recall now that if u're asking ut contractor to perform hacking (for old flooring) before laying new tiles, then total labor cost around rm 7 -- rm 9 is the currrent market price range ... in kl ..

sorry for my ambiguity that hav caused much confusion.

yes, RM9psf is for hackin, retiling (incl of lab, mat + tiles that are not more that RM4psf). However, it excludes waterproofin for bathroom (which cost RM600 for two bathroom of 8ftx5ft each) which I believe is a rip-off. Will nego further anyways.

Am now gonna get MPSJ permit before finalising design n lockin in the contractor.

the process might not be the same, best is if you call MPKJ and ask them. better that way.

anyways, for MPSJ is to get an architect, draft out the plan for you and then submit to MPSJ office. other docs incl S&P, latest cukai pintu stmt (to show that you have paid), some form to get permission frm neighbour (so u better be nice to ur neighbours wink.gif). takes bout 3 weeks to get approval.
