Like I said right now hard to find. Most of the places i went to sold out already. The store i bought mine left the last 2 both 3.5 inch at RM 100. Store owner also don't entertain bargaining cause he say now hard to find. The other place is the aquarium near Bukit Baru traffic junction. They have a pair for sale but less than 3 inch for RM100.

i think for that low of a price, the petshop wanted to sell off his stock quickly and wash off his hands..

so i guess there is a possiblity that some petshop will sell stars below market price

substrate: those pine/cedar/whatever odorous shavings should be changed ASAP. at the mean time, you could just use newspaper. and next time you use substrate, make it thicker.

lighting: those aquarium lighting provides neither suitable heat nor UVB. use a combination of normal osram bulbs and uvb bulb. in this rainy season, those tortoises are going to have some serious problem without proper heating.

please make changes ASAP (aka TODAY), don't wait after CNY.

Hmmm.... thanks for your advise. I really don't know where to get the thicker substrate. What effects will the wood shavings have on the stars ?

When you mean bulb, you're referring to tungsten filament bulbs ?

wood shavings that are odorous (pine, cedars) could cause respiratory toxicity. you could try chips from non-odorous woods, bark chips or paper cat litter

what i mean by thicker is put more substrates, from your pictures many parts of the aquarium floor are uncovered. tortoises should have at least inch-thick substrate (unless you use newspaper that get changed every single day)

yup.. tungsten bulb for heat.

they got free entrance into the exhibition at 1U (where uzairi flirted with you-know-who's spouse LOL!)

plus, there were a quartet of long-legged, hot brunettes and half-blondes joining them.

well... your loss.. kekeke.

regarding the wood chip, today i found 2 small pieces of wood chip in my 3 inches star poo, i think he might be accidentally eat the wood chip... sad.gif

i think we might have to reconsider which substrate is good for our tortoise, another thing about the wood chip is that they seem to keep moisture and kinda hard for them to dry. to me the best would be the turned upside down tile.

btw the wood chip im using is as the image below, the star in the picture is around 2 inches big.

kangkung is not good for them since it can cause calcium binding. try sawi, carrots, lady finger and french bean and long bean(once a week for the beans)

You are using XL size or what ? For now the safest i think so far is the recyled paper pellets. Forest bark also have some slight percentage to be swallowed by the st. nod.gif

that's why we have the hygrometer... anything below 50 should be fine

please also note that humidity that is too low (very dry habitat) might contribute to pyramiding (proven in sulcata)
