If I am that rich, I buy the shop and fire this fellow. Why still want to let him earn the commision for selling the camera.

Any news where else to get 450D? I have been following this since January when I first read this post and it has been almost 2 months now. Anybody get a reply from Canon after emailing them or they are just like all others loussy company Stre... , Di*& which never check their emails?

At least there is something to be excited for month April. Lets hope we can get the same price as in Japan... especially the twin lens package......

How much is the twin lens package in Japan?

Would be very curious on how Canon going to price 450D

Canon EOS 400D BODY = around 2k
Canon EOS 40D (body) = around 3.9k
Nikon D40 kit = around 1.7k
Nikon D60 SLR Digital Camera Kit with 18-55mm VR Lens = around 2.3k
Nikon D80 SLR body = around 2.8k
Sony Alpha A200 KIT = around 1.9k
Sony Alpha A350 KIT = around 2.7k


Since Canon can't place them higher than 2.8k (ppl might get D80 or A350)
Then can't be too cheap (cant fight price with D60)
if they do compete on price (price at 2.3k), this would mean killing themself in the long term?
but is good for us, i guess olympus, pentax and sony would join in the price war (Nikon mostly wont join in)

This means if my budget is below 2k, I am left with 400D (which is on sales since Nov2006)
This makes the newer D40 (compare with 400D) or even newer A200 a steal
(for me, newer tech mostly r better as it always means technological advancement)

Without a cheap entry level, i guess Sony would be eating in Canon Market?

but IMHO, i think u should l@n si that fellow. HATE these ppl, my guess is maybe the boss is not around........even worse i see a sale gal sleeping in the counter at 2nd floor times square ( there only 2 cam shop at 2nd floor). i was like ???#$%^&*(...........

Anyway, my search is over. I bought a 40D Kit with 17-85mm IS (AT LAST) yesterday from a shop P.Selangor in Pertama Complex,KL. Bought from a super nice fellow Yusof. So far, he is the only sales person first ever took out the camera from the box, attach the lens and demontrate to me patiently showing me some of the camera's features. He even took out 400D compare with 40D spending close to 1 hour comparing the price and features of the camera and he did not get angry when I say I want to consider and walk out of the shop. He just pass me a piece of paper with a list of the price and his name card tell me if I happen to be interested, give him a call.

Later in the evening, I went back again and finally bought the camera with him.
This post might be a bit out of topic as I still don't know when the 450D will arrive but as for me, I will start reading the camera user manual and check out what this baby can do for me.....

To the ex-salesperson who I thank him for reminding me I am not a photographer, I somehow got myself a 40D as my first DSLR
nvr under estimate every single customer who walk in to ur shop, coz you will never noe what they care capable of... hehe.....

actually everyone should just buy 40D because upgrading is wasting money. 40D is almost perfect camera for the price. Should just skip 400D or 450D.

Strongly disagree LOR. If thats the case, everyone might as well just get 1Ds Mark III??

For those who got poisoned and plan to get DSLR, plan it well and justify which camera is best you. Think hard and think twice on how much you can effort for an camera. Remember, it is not something that you cant live without it. Make sure you are clear with your priority and justify which model best suits you at an effortable price.

Never simply listen to others and end up making the wrong decision cause at the end of the day is not those who thrash you with rubbish suggestion going to suffer. Is it you.
