I will try to "persuade" audio gd to send some as free gift LOL If not, I will consider paying for it since it's manufacture by CMC, quality is there smile.gif Wanna try OCC copper instead of Silver though, my current setup does sound abit bright to me smile.gif Dun wanna add anymore brightness to it biggrin.gif

GL, looks like it's posted on it's website that it will be freebee... yes, hope we will get it also! Thanks Chua for the info. rclxms.gif

Eddy mentioned that he has some Oyaide 4N Copper. Those are really high grade cables. Maybe worth while to get those and save on shipping? I'm also more interested in copper.

Hi Eddy, you're at Old Klang Road? Not a problem for me to go over. GodLuv is in Ipoh though...

BTW, 0.1mm is really thin. Is that sufficient to carry the signal? You obviously have tried it so what's your opinion on it? Also, how much will it cost for enough to link the 2 RCA? Thanks!

Hi RAV4

Yes, Old Klang road (Sri sentosa) smile.gif 0.1 is not suitable to internal wiring, but if you want to try the different betwwen the 0.1 & 0.3 i have some used one.
i dun know how much cost for it, free to charge lah.. cause the thing not cost a lot and i guess 10cm is more then enought for you.

The audio gd's rca female seems to be quite solid, quite be quite bang for the bucks, i will try asking the price. I may go and order the OCC copper cable, anyone want to join? together share share the shipping, shipping from canada to malaysia is abit too expensive tongue.gif

The hifidiy mini USB dac is kinda attractive, might consider bring in one unit to review it's market potential biggrin.gif
*
I don't mind sharing to get some since it's not expensive. GL, have you checked this out? A bit more expensive than the Take 5 one but I think cryo treated copper can make a difference. http://www.cryo-parts.com/cryopartscu.html

Oh, I'm not scared of the soldering. That's a simple enuf job. But to try and listen, then remove n resolder to compare .1 and .3 is quite cumbersome so having 2 units is useful for comparison. I believe that's also why Chua bought 2? ;-)

Added on September 30, 2008, 11:17 pmEddy, you mentioned about Black Gate caps so I did a search and found that they're indeed very costly and also scarce. Some are like Euro 10 each! So where do you get your stock from? Actually just curious but I think modding BG for Zero is rather extreme? Might end up to cost as much as the unit itself...

BG might be abit overkill for ZERO, best one would those Elna or Nichicon, quite bang for the bucks biggrin.gif If possible i think both the input and ouput rca female should be replace with better one, again garbage in garbage in, nice in nice out biggrin.gif

Well,

more and more people confirm tying the Earth ground wire to RCA earth gives some difference in sound. When u upgrade the RCA, bring out 1 wire from the RCA ground by solder.

All my stock is from Japan, but now i can't get any more from japan already. I think you still can get from other place like
http://www.acoustic-dimension.com/blackgate/bgmain.htm

Yeah, Blackgate is very expensive compare other caps, but if you have listened Blackgate i am sure you wouldn't want to take it out from your player or DAC. I would said you can't found that kind of clean tonality from other brand.

"Actually just curious but I think modding BG for Zero is rather extreme?"
It is depend on you, if you are looking better improvement on your DAC or player Blackgate is the better choice.

(this is my opinion) Elna, Nichicon, Muse, Oscon and some other NOS caps are good but it still can't give those kind of clean tonality.

Anyone here tried snipping off the caps on the headphone board? I'm afraid the Grado will sound too bright after.

I have Earth in DAC, LT1364 in amp.

Snipping the cap does not cause your system to sound bright. It just sound more open with higher frequency. Putting in a silver cable will cause bright sound.

Hi,

Good to see that. Are u not running Sun as well. I spend quite sometime switching between earth and sun and it is fun.

At first I cant get used to the vocal of OPA Sun. After a while, I sort of get used to it.

The more I listen, the clearer is the difference between sun and Earth.

also try to connect one wire to the RCA Earth by solder. use this ground wire to earth the OPA Earth ground.

I've yet to put on the Sun, love the Earth. Maybe it is placebo but there is a slight hint of more detail after snipping the caps.

Do I need to solder the earth wire to the RCA ground? I don't plan to change the RCA jacks now. Maybe just make a knot?

________

The snipping of the caps bring better transparency, lifts a veil that I didn't know was present!

After I completed the RCA jack, i bring 1 copper wire and directly solder it to the earth pin. no need to remove the board.

for ZERO starters, here is the beginner thread which is informative
