QUOTE(GodLuvSxS @ Jan 30 2008, 09:26 PM) Guys, I have found some source for opa627, USD11 ~ 16/piece for new one (shipping not included), some used one for serious value of just around RM20/piece, interested? So for the Zero I would need 2 OPA627 and a Browndog adapter right?Do you think can get the OPA627 already soldered on the browndog adapter, I lack the tools and probably the skill to assemble it myself This post has been edited by kwekeugene: Jan 30 2008, 10:08 PM |

Oh yea, completely forgot to ask you.
When Zero gets to Malaysia. Do we do a mass COD session or postage? Your location is in Ipoh? |

My LinearTech samples finally arrived.
I ordered on Jan 30th, so you guys might have to wait a little while before getting the op-amps. @GodLuvSxs, Any updates |

I saw this return address at the back of my LT package. It looks like they are the local distributors for LT in Malaysia. Here's the info...

Finally got my Zero today
Optical out > Zero > Grado SR225 Just plugged in it, what I immediately noticed is the widened and more defined soundstage. In some songs, the highs were noticeably tamer, making it less fatiguing to listen to. The expanded soundstage makes the mids more prominent and clearer. Or rather, in layman terms, less congested. No hiss or background noise up till the 12 o'clock volume level, going all the way has some slight hiss. Certainly won't be noticeable if using efficient headphones since at 9 o'clock, it's already quite loud! All of this is from a fresh unit, will do a further review once I get more hours in and start opamp rolling.... Note : the unit gets rather hot, probably 50-60 degrees. you guys having the same problem? |

I had about 50 hours on my Zero.
I just put in the OPA627 a mins ago. All I can say is that it's awesome. With the stock OPA2604, I felt there was some veil to the music, with the OPA627, crystal clear. The mids are very enjoyable |

So far this is the Opamp I tested in the DAC section. Need to get some sort of plier to get to the opamps from the amp section. It's quite tight to reach....
OPA2604 Heavy on bass, shy of highs, however seductive mids. A tube like sound signature. Has a laid back nature which makes listening to it non-fatiguing at all. OPA627 Overall the better DAC. I noticed for the 1st time in some songs the voice of the backup vocalist. I do find it rather revealing too, try playing poor recordings and it will show. LT1361 Not bad at all but lacks the "wow" factor. Less revealing than the OPA627, but overall it's quite decent. |

utellme,
I think if you want absolutely all the details in music, try the OPA627s. |
