Nokia N95, featuring an innovative double slide
design with multimedia controls and a keypad on opposite end of the phones. The N95 is Nokia's first HSDPA (3.5G) device, but also boasts Wi-Fi, WCDMA, quad-band GSM, Bluetooth (including A2DP), IrDA and USB 2.0 connectivity (via mini USB connector). Other hardware features include a 5 megapixel camera, a built in GPS, TV-Out, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, a MicroSD memory card slot and 150MB of internal memory. Read on for full details, pictures and the full press release.

In the hand the most impressive aspect of the device, given its feature set, is its size.
At 99mm x 20mm x 53mm (90cc), the N93 packs an impressively amount into a small space. Nokia have managed to add two major technologies to the Nseries line (GPS and HSDPA) while significantly reducing the volume of the device. In length and width dimensions it is larger that the other Nseries slider - the N80, but it is considerably thinner.

HSPDA is the next generationin cellular connectivity. The N95 is a category 6 HSPDA device which means it is up to 10 times faster that WCDMA (3G). Clearly HSDPA support is required at a network level, but many networks have already begun their testing or roll out periods. The faster connection speeds make downloading media (such as podcasts via the in built Podcast application) more palatable and should also improve latency/round trip times. Wi-Fi, WCDMA (3G) connectivity, together with quad band GSM and EDGE are also supported. Bluetooth 2.0, IrDA and USB make up the local connectivity options.

The 5.0 megapixel camera uses Carl Zeiss Optics with autofocus and digital zoom with a dedicated 2 stage capture button on the side of the phone. Video capture at near DVD quality is also supported. On the side of the device there are several buttons dedicated to camera usage. This allows the device to be held in a similar way to a traditional camera with the screen, in landscape mode, used as the view finder and the shutter button on bottom right hand side of the device (top right when phone is held horizontally). On the rear of the device, next to the camera is the slide switch, which is used to open the lens aperture and activate camera mode. Although it is difficult to judge the image quality at this stage the evidence we saw suggest that the N95 will be on of the most capable camera phones available.

A GPS is integrated into the device with anticipated accuracy of around 10m (satellite signal permitting). The devices will ship with an application called Maps which has global overview maps built in. More detailed maps (with coverage over more than 100 different countries available) can be downloaded for free from an online server. The detail available varies from country to country, but in many cases it is available down to street level. A point of interest (POI) database is also included. All the maps are available for free, as is basic route planning, but navigation functionality (with voice and on screen prompts) will be available as a pay-for add on. City Guides will also be available for purchase and other services are likely to be made available in the future. The mapping software and services is likely to based on technology from gate5, a company which Nokia recently announced it was acquiring.

Music playback is also a major focus of the device. The dedicated multimedia keys on the top flip of the device are primarily designed for music playback (although can also be used in other multimedia contexts). Wireless stereo sound output (via the A2DP Bluetooth profile) is also supported, and stereo audio output is also supported by the TV output feature and the on board stereo speakers. The music formats supported include MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA. Video playback on the QVGA screen is excellent and supported video formats include 3GP, Real Video and MP4 with support for the latest AVC codec.

The multimedia key now leads to a revamped application and multimedia shorcut view which now supports both a greater number of shortcuts (applications, multimedia files and bookmarks) and more flexible personalisation. As a result it is now a more generic shortcut key mechansim and offers an alternative to the standard application launcher.

The N95 uses S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 (Symbian 9.3) and as such includes version 2.0 of the open source Nokia web browser (supporting WML, XHTML and HTML in one browser), Flash Lite 2.0, FOTA (firmware over the air updates) and more.

The N95 uses the same small power port as other S60 3rd Edition devices, but the in-box charger is considerably smaller than the existing models (up to 60% smaller). The N95 has a 950 mAh battery, it is likely that the N95 will require a daily charge with moderate to heavy use, although 3-6 days may be possible with lighter use (dependent on network strength, type and other factors).

======Shout Out to smashpOp!====
How often do you wish you had access to your favorite web communities straight from your cell phone?
Wouldn't you like to stay on top of things all the time and know what your friends are up to?
Wouldn't it be great to communicate with them and stay in touch just as if they were right next to you?

Well, now it's possible

With WidSets you can do all that - and more.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

You can get traffic alerts, news, blogs, gossip, restaurant reviews, weather reports and loads of other stuff that you would normally get through a web service, without having to wade through hundreds of websites.

In fact, WidSets is so hassle free that there is no need for you to click from site to site, refresh, or browse for what you want - the information is updated to your cell phone automatically. Our goal is to make this service available to everyone, and make it as simple and as effortless as possible.

The service is very affordable, considering it's totally FREE. You can use it as much as you want, create as much as you want, and share with others to the point that you can't share anymore.

Nokia Video Manager
========Contributed by smashpOp========
Get the Nokia Video Manager here!
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Nokia Video Manager scans and converts any selected video file on your computer to mp4 format. Conversion types include avi, mpeg, wmv and mov (DivX, XVid, MPEG-2 and Quicktime codecs).

According to AllAboutSymbian, the current S60 devices that are capable of playing mp4 (H.264) are the N71, N73, N75, N76, N80, N91, N92, N93 and all S60 3rd Edition FP1 devices including the N95, 6290, 6110 and 5700.

As I'm writing this I'm also scanning my laptop for files to convert to the N95. One thing I can tell you is that it does take a long long time and makes other running application perform very slow. But then again I guess this depends on how much you have stored.

How to use the GPS?
========Thx to Fair-pley==========
a. Run the Map application
b. After that click option, click view, choose Satellite info
c. Wait until u see some coordinate (numbers) in 4 line
d. click back
e. It will zoom to ur location.
** U will see ur location in the map and it will move following ur current location.
** Its wise for u to download the map first (front page of this thread) and disable the connection to avaoid 3g usage.
*** To use Asiamaps, please do the above first and then running Asiamaps.

V4 already, congratulations!! rclxms.gif

btw, I got a problem here... Not sure whether some of u guys got face it or not.

Sometimes when I send a sms, it can't be sent out, it even don't show me the delivery report, but money got deducted from the balance. But, when I resent again immediately, the msg can be send out already... shakehead.gif

Is it due to the handphone's problem, or MAXXS(I'm using 012)' problem?

From where, may I ask? I'm thinking of getting a 8GB card.

Also, are these genuine cards? Online price for this card is around USD140 (approx.RM470) so how come you guys can get so cheap?

Haa? Lagi cheaper? Alamak...makes me even more suspicious. Thanks for the offer antho1, but I'll wait a bit longer for prices to come down (in USA, I mean).

Official SanDisk site list price is US$140. I really don't know how it can be cheaper in Malaysia unless the cards are NOT genuine.

*
Duh you can't compare the price in US and Malaysia lol..
It's like comparing people who work and live in US get 3000 USD and then you change the currency to Ringgit and tell Malaysia your monthly salary is RM10k =.=
For instance you are comparing a Burger that is about 5USD, so in Malaysia it's RM 15+? Can't be right? -.-

u should slide ur phone up when using GPS as the GPD receiver just located under the keypad, slide up will improve the signal receive.

Eh 1 question

As N95 8gb released

Few specs that being increase is,

64mb ram - 128mb ram
2.6" - 2.8" LCD
950MaH battery cell - 1200MaH battery cell
and notable 8gb flash.

This N95 8GB are being considered as N95-2,

Is there a N95-2 normal edition instead of N95-2 8GB?

Regarding symbian software, is it ok to use different versions?

N95 = S60 v3.

But can use older versions eg. v1, v2, etc.? Any problems?

i read the forum post too. It's a very tight fit because of the rounded edge just under the camera lense.. and u can't close back the original battery cover; have to use a transparent casing for that purpose. I'm looking for cheaper 6L batteries to test it out though tongue.gif

1. if your's is not an APAC1 code, then download Nemesis Service Suit (NSS)
2. install NSS "Virtual USB Device"
3. open the program and click on the "scan for devices" button
4. click on the "phone info" icon (the one with the Nokia 6600 as the picture)
5. click on "scan" and then "read"
6. change the product code to APAC
7. close NSS and open NSU (Nokia Software Updater)
8.update your firmware
9.volia! chinese support on your Nokia

A simple way to deal with your problem is to use blutooth headphones. No hissing sounds whatsoever. I've tried it, and it works like a charm.

Avi / Divx format normally are NOT IN DEFAULT player for Nokia HP. So Its can't save onto from inbox to memory card. Have u try change inbox storage from phone card to Memory Card?

For what i know avi / divx , u need to transfer via Card reader thru memory card. Have same trick to make smart movie player as default for open the file with File Manager or Inbox & save it to memory card, but i cant remember.

SDHC cards have SD Speed Class Ratings defined by the SD Association. The SD Speed Class Ratings specify the following minimum sustained write speed on to empty SDHC cards:

* Class 2: 2 MB/s
* Class 4: 4 MB/s
* Class 6: 6 MB/s

Source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_card#SDHC

SDHC minimum size are 4GB, but i saw panasonic launch 32GB SDHC (SD not MicroSD)..

By the way, need some help here, how can I reinstall Asia Map (with Malaysia & Singapore map) in my new card? Think fresh installation will be better, cause my old card got a lot of installed games cannot be uninstalled!

Try this:
1. install activefile
2. open the activefile and select the avi files
3. press left key menu for Files/Open With/ setting
4. select smartmovie for the application. IMPORTANT-> must apply the setting after select smartmovie

A new firmware would be really cool... The extra free RAM is really welcomed.
How can i check the RAM status like in this video?? I've been trying to find it on my N95, but no success so far..

It happens to me too and I have no idea how on earth it happened. My phone is in perfect condition. So bad news for you, if you are authorized Nokia set, then send to the Nokia service center, you phone probably need to change a main board (just like mine!). If yours is an AP set, then I have no idea who can help you.

Nd4fun, try to google for "N95 product code change". There will be a lot of guides on changing ur product code to APAC (Asia Pacific) which is 0534833 . There are different programs to do this, but the one usually comes up is NSS. Here's a guide i found on another forum:

http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67130

After changing, u should update the firmware again.

Good luck wink.gif u might need it sweat.gif

Hi fellow N95 users, i'm wondering if anyone could help me..
i've tried using Nokia Video Manager to convert my avi files to mp4 and tried to play it on the phone.
by default, Real Player is used to play the mp4 files, and all i'm getting is sound...no picture at all. i've tried reconverting using low quality...still same-same...anyone can help with out?

Evening guy,

Just bought my N95 today and I must say the GPS, image and Video is damn good for a phone.
However I face a problem now and hope sifu here can help. I can't use 3G to go to internet.
I manage to use my home wifi to surf the net. I then switch off my wifi and try to connect
using 3G maxis internet I get 'Packet Data' connection not allow.

My card is 3G enable as the simcard can work on my Dopod 838 pro. However I get that error message on the N95.
I setup the 3g maxis using the sms from maxis website but to no avail. What can i do? Did i miss something?

Thanks! sweat.gif

My dopod 838 pro can use 3G and 3.5G with this sim card wor. It is because this device is not compatible with my hotlink 3G card? Or any additional setting?

Add me to the list as well mr-2 -09-02-2008 RM1750, AP CSL free silicon case.

Enjoy the phone so much today using the Camera for photo and video, GPS, Wifi and make some calls. Only drop 2 bar after intensively use till night. Must say the battery is still better than my WM5 PDA.

Still got problem configure my 3G services as still get the 'Packet Data' connection not allowed . If not would had been perfect. Come monday need to bring back to the shop to setup for me. Hope they can solve if not I am changing to N82. sweat.gif

Finally solve the 3G "packet data; connection not allowed" problem. Now can connect to 3.5G aswell. thumbup.gif

Just for the record so that in future those who has this problem can refer to this.

For Packet Data Non-Allowed problem, just go to -
Phone Setting -> Connection -> APN Control -> Option -> Deactivate restrictions then you are done to use 3G WAP.
It will ask you for PIN2.

God bless. smile.gif

Depend you like candy bar or slide. I personally went for the N95 despite N82 have Xenon flash & built in screen rotate for the cool slide and design. I didn't favour the N82 keypad either when I tested both phone before I bought my N95. Other than that both spec are almost same.

If I am not wrong, the still new N82 firmware still have some bug to solve while N95 firmware is quite stable now.

don't really care about how 'cheapo' it looks to you... i think it looks just FINE.. smile.gif It's a tedious process of changing (took me about 4 hours), but I'm just bloody glad that I managed to get it done without causing *much* damage. (will have to look for a microphone replacement, cause there's NO WAY to get the original mic out without destroying it!). The slide is a little too tight now, but I'm hoping it will loosen with use, or i do some modification of my own smile.gif Cheers! smile.gif

I recognize the black N95 housing! It is from eBay! cost USD45. It is claim by the seller to made from high resistant but ultra-light Titanium and Magnesium Alloy.

I got a replacement mic already... now it's working well (so far) wink.gif

Yeah! it's the one from ebay. I got it for USD45 + 7 (shipping) from China... so far so good thumbup.gif

It's supposedly made of Titanium and Magnesium Alloy, but when i held it, i thought it was plastic.. but u can tell it isn't plastic when u knock it against something. When i disassembled the original housing of my N95, i noticed that it's somewhat the same material hmm.gif the only parts that were alloy were the faceplate and back of the faceplate, the rest (keypad, back plate, battery cover) are all plastic.

I'll be posting more pictures later tonight! I just hope the paint can tahan longer than a few months sweat.gif

Hey guys any idea how to improve the darn battery life? The battery bar can drop 4-5 bars with just less than 30 mins of playing games
I've flashed it to the latest firmware

Oh yeah! Does N95 have the function of charging with USB?? After connecting my USB cable the only responds i get is to enable PC suite mode and so on...
Anyone knows how to disable the sound when using camera?

1. reduce screen brightness, offline mode(?!)

2. need special USB cable. check proporta and nokia website. USB charging cable.

3. use cCam software

Hi, i wish to ask some ques:

1.How's the build of the black cover?
2.Is the sliding mechanisme as smooth as the ori 1?
3.WIll it leave any gaps & wobble like some of the poorly build N95?

Thanks in advance bro

Yes it is better if the light is sufficient. K850 has Xenon flash which is way better than LED flash... But when it comes to clarity with enough lights, N95 owns big time! rclxms.gif
Hadn't had any problems with my phone except for it's battery life... But for normal usage without mp3 and games it should b okay

*Is slightly thicker & heavier
*Uses a diff battery
*Multimedia menu is diff
*Memory slot removed
*Position of LED flash move, No protective cover for camera lense

A little details added
*The screen is larger & keys on the top has been shrunk (2.6" for N95, 2.8" for N95 8GB)
*Is slightly thicker & heavier (slightly... not much diff)
*Uses a diff battery (950mA for N95, 1200mA for N95 8GB)
*Multimedia menu is diff
*Memory slot removed
*Position of LED flash move, No protective cover for camera lense
*Overall better performance (64mb RAM for N95, 128mb RAM for N95 8GB)
*

nope... the battery is thicker and that is why N95 8GB's camera shutter has been removed so that more compartment for the battery.
the battery can be used but you will not be able to close the back cover...

how many colors does the n95 have?

the other day i saw a pink n95 in ering magazine

n95 can change casing or not?

will they stop producing n95..due to the 8gb version??
*
Yes, you can change the back part yourself without any screwdrivers. However if you are saying about the front plate, you can only change it via some special screwdrivers. Thus becareful and take very good care of the front plate + keypads as changing them requires you to open the screws and void the warranty sticker

I believe high speed or not the card, your phone hardware will be the limitation to the speed. If the phone hardware only support maximum class 4 speed, even u plug in a class 6 card will still be running at class 4 speed. I have no idea where to check out the hardware limitation of the N95, the best way is to obtain 2 N95 and 2 memory card with different speed class then test them out.

I doubt that u can change the casing for free as the warranty doesn't really cover it for wear and tear, u will have to fork out $$$ if u wanna change

Anyone has a encounter the symbiansigned.com site can't get signed for the whole week? Any way to get my cert signed without going thru that website?
I can't install those SIS application that require sign like rotateme. How stupid to set requirement and they can't even maintain the site properly. vmad.gif
When try to upload cert I get

Request DevCert
Your request has failed. Reason:
- Developer Certificates will be ENABLED for users who have a Publisher ID ONLY. (during GMT office hours)
- ONLY if you used a Publisher ID to create a .csr file with the DevCertCreate tool will you be able to use Open Signed Offline to create a Developer Certificate.
- Developer Certificates are currently DISABLED for users without a Publisher ID. Users who DO NOT have a Publisher ID CANNOT request Developer Certificates or use Open Signed Offline.
- Open Signed Online and Offline for users without a Publisher ID will NOT be available temporarily, an update will be provided during Week beginning 25th Feb
- If you have recently obtained a Publisher ID and are unable to create a Developer Certificate using Open Signed Offline please request support through the Symbian Signed forum on the Symbian Developer Network

Feel like selling off my phone and switch back to PPC at least don't have this kind of requirement. shakehead.gif

Thats what I worry about this phone as Nokia always like to use chrome paint on their phone which not able to last long and will make the phone looks ugly if it came off...

Mine already 10 months but luckily everything still intact on mine.

i ask my friend who work in nokia care center so far i check front cover cost 60 plus, Back cover 40 plus, front keypad the navigation key 30 plus. If your phone without warrenty add 50 for service charge this can be change in amcorp mall or imbi.

What r u talking? If the phone with warrenty go ahead and change la save the service charge and don tell me u expect ppl to use cheap A grade housing right? Plus to change whole housing 300 will be more than enough.

The site are now currently available for user who have a Publisher ID which cost USD200 sweat.gif
But there is a announcement stated that a open signed for registered user without Publisher ID will be available in following week...

to download map direct from pc without using Map software,
http://nokiamaps.moo.no/

it's for Map v2

for those asking maximum SDHC supported on N95, 16GB is supported on N95. fyi, 16GB from Sandisk is the biggest microSDHC available now.

Wah... eric from TF to N95... loaded lah u. tongue.gif
Yeah... you can't use after 3 days. But you can always switch back to the date you activate your GPS and navigate.
This is a known bug in v1.2 only. If you upgraded then it won't work.

AP N95 is about 1700?? might as well save a few hundred in a few more months and get the 8GB instead. Fake black casing cost about rm100 plus, plus warranty will definitely be voided when u send it in for repairs as there's no official N95 black version...I once thought of changing too but i'll just stick with it now. Prefer everthing in original form.

Besides, u get a bigger screen, more memory and even more battery life.....

agree...saving up the money u can spend it in better way...it is really not worth if u r buying it for 1700..buying the 8gb will be worthwhile...

New slider rails for N95?? Is it available at malaysia NSC, anyone knows?

"However finally there is a solution on the horizon, Christian from the SW blog sent his N95 to the Nokia Service Point to fix the wobbly slider and discovered that they have put new redesigned rails and that his N95 finally has a rock-solid slider!!!"

Hi. I am not officially in the N95 community yet however i am considering to get one. I am currently in the Uk and will be coming home soon. I just wanna ask about the slider and the zoom button issue which i have heard from the posts so far. Is it a problem which needs me to really be aware of? Thats coz i am a student in the UK and i will not be able to get the warranty to cover the faults.
Hope the N95 sifu's will be able to advise me on this. Coz if thats the case i will need to stick to the N82 which has a much solid construction but annoying keypad rclxub.gif

Hi bro, so far IMHO, i been using my N95 for the past month and i haven't encounter that said problem. Also when use i am very cafefuly not to open the close the slider hard or with force. I am not sure mine whether is the redesign rail for the slider, but seem quite solid at the moment. I seldom use the zoom button aswell, so far so good. N82 is not a bad phone... but design wise I prefer the slider cos everytime i pick up a call is by opening the slider, no more puny green button. Is a great phone with good multimedia capabilities and camera. thumbup.gif

Thanks for the info man. Hmm... just afraid that so happen i will be the unlucky 1 sweat.gif
I really seem to like both phones. Both have features just about the same as each other but i am afraid about the durability of the n95's design. As for the n82 i am not too keen with the shiny silver surface on its front fascia and the keypads might pose as an obstacle to overcome in a way.
Only way i guess is to really try out both handsets. Any more feedback???? thumbup.gif

GREAT News to all N95 user! New Firmware (again!?) will be available..
Read more here..

Mayor firmware update for N95 is on the way
Flash Lite 3 & Widget (webruntime) support added

I just got a tip from the very trusted source that new firmware version for the Nokia N95 is on the way and it going to be the major update because it will brings the Flash Lite 3 and Widget (web runtime)!

Yeah you read it right; I know that it is hard to believe but apparently two new and very promising mobile technologies coming to oldie Nokia N95 and even better, I got the full change log to prove that!!! Last time we got the demand paging and now with Flash Lite 3 and Widget support the classic Nokia N95 is the simply the best choice in my personal opinion.

New firmware version for Nokia N95, should be available soon on the NSU and will be available progressively at the official Nokia Points and Nokia Service Points in the next few days. I am not that much excided about playing the YoutTube movies directly from the browser as MobiTubia or emTube provides way be... ..

Now the firmware is available on the net unfortunately is EURO firmware if u don use chinese just flash to it using crack PHOENIX i hope u heard of it b4.... I just flash to V21 EURO1 and i love it soo much the update is magnificent love the media player now the sound seems to be louder and the bass is nice compare to previous firmware on the headphone and the UI respond is abit faster compare with V20. I give it a top score. You can also check from nokia outlet for the update i think they should already have the update. This firmware is a must flash firmware. Now what i haven found out is wheater is battery wise not. Soon to find out hehehe. So my conclusion is just update to it. And a hint for those who want to have silent mode during camera capture go for EURO1 cause APAC cant cancel the capture sound produce by camera. (For those who like to take sneek photo go and flash EURO firmware biggrin.gif ) TRY IT!!!!!! JUST CHANGE IT!!!! icon_rolleyes.gif

Lol how many of you willing to go nokia center to flash firmware? They took few hours to flash it. So i don bother bout it at all. I use phoenix to flash not by changing to product code plus i don really like NSU it once damage my N73 b4 and the worst thing is AP set they say is not under thier warrenty therefore now i choose original. I think nokia malaysia is flexible as long u are under warrenty u can choose what firmware u wan i guess plus i does not affect the hardware software is just minor problem i think they wont void unlike europe. Yeah EURO can not read chinese but u can use FONT ROUTER if u wan which u can customize ur font to make it readable thought i a chinese but i m not chinese educated so chinese is not a matter for me for those who always type message in chinese better wait for APAC update. And i don know did u all notice in APAC the font is not as nice as EURO wan just my observation. icon_idea.gif

I Definitely Notice That.. I Really Hate The "Bolded" Font In The APAC Firmware.. It Even Makes The "Search: Internet and My content" In The Active Standby To Occupy 2 Lines Instead Of 1. Do You Mean With Font Router, Euro Firmware N95 Can Read Chinese Too? (Write Is Not Important.. biggrin.gif)

Unlocked Wireless Access Point Doesn't Mean That You Can Use It For Free.. I Will Take TM Net And P1 Hot Zone Access Points As An Example.. You Must Have Registered Account And Logon To The Network Before You Can Surf The Internet Through Wi-Fi.. To Have An Account, You Need To Pay For It.. =/

check the review of K850i and u will notice that they compare the video quality with N95. and N95 kill K850i...

N95 record video at 640*480 30FPS with hardly any frame drop

step by step changing product code

1) Install NSS onto your computer. The latest versions work with both Windows XP and Windows Vista.
2) Connect your N95 to your computer, via USB, in PC Suite mode.
3) Launch NSS.
4) Click on the magnifying glass in the top right of the NSS window. This should then detect your phone and bring up it's info.
5) When your phone has been found, click on the Phone Info button and wait for it to read more info from your phone.
6) Now click on the Read button on the right hand side of the screen. You will see the phone's product code, H/W code, manufacturing date and IMEI number displayed.
7) Choose the product code you want to use (remember the codes for the N95 classic are different to the 8Gb). 8) Overtype the product code with the one you have chosen from the Product Codes thread (see above)
9) Tick the Enable box and then press Write
Your product code has now been changed. You can quit NSS and now open Nokia Software updater to update your phone in the normal manner

Haha the posibility for ur phone to brick is 70 30 lo if ur comp is error free and u don interupt the process while flash should be ok what i fear is system32 sometimes it will clash with the software this what happen to those unlucky ppl cause while flashing phone will boot to ADL mode like u see in NSU if the driver clash in ur system and is not detected during the flash then ur phone is good as dead cause there got timer for it to connect thats the thing i worried all along besides that everything sure work and to flash using phoenix u need 5 minutes.

oh yeah another thing now u can use the phoenix to flash ur phone does not mean in future u can flash ur phone cause phoenix got updates to support new firmware so if the next batch need higher version then current phoenix is useless therefore i was kind of shock cause N95 still under support in this version where N73 need higher version d which can not be crack therefore u need NSU to do the flashing job. Compare phoenix and NSU i prefer phoenix cause u can change the product code just by flashing the firmware with that specific product code and there got refurbrish option but too bad it does not reset the warrenty timer lol.

Guys.. I Couldn't Resist Myself But To Update To V21.. I Didn't Update Using Phoenix, But Instead I Use NSU (Replacing Some Files Upon Seeing The "Nokia Booting Screen")..

If You Guys Are Interested, This Is The Guide That I Followed.. It's Very Tedious Though..

Hi guys, anyone of you know how to identify fake memory card? I am curious to know if my memory card given in my AP set is fake or not.

The thing is when i bought my phone i found not 1 but 2 1gb card in my box. I find this strange and maybe because they didnt realise the phone has a mem card inside it, so they gave me another card in the mem card carrying case. This leads me to suspect maybe both card could be fake.

My brother also buy N70 ME from the same shop and find that the Music Player always crash when he transfer song in with card reader, but dont crash when transfer through pc suite. This lead me to suspect the card might be fake also or could be just N70 bug.

Thanks for help.

Hi all .. just a simple question. Has anyone tried to update the firmware of the phone using an ordinary USB cable? I mean not using the one that was provided with the phone. Can I do that? Because I left my original Nokia Cable in my hometown.

the gallery open faster, it's stated as one of the improvement in the changelog. i still not eager to change it to v21 since not much improvement hehe except youtube.

too bad N82 and other new phones firmware being neglected by nokia. this prove N95-1 still the best supported phone by nokia thumbup.gif

actually wireless or not, they will download the updates to your pc then 'offline' upgrade the firmware for you. as long as not upgrading time you disconnect the cable then can already

Oo.. really? I think this is good for me then, as I wish to enable the 3D tone feature~ laugh.gif
Btw, for the previous firmware, the 3D tone only will messed up with our own ringtones, but it still working fine for the stock ringtone... wink.gif
Gonna try it out later after I transfer back my ringtones inside my phone.

beware with v21. many unlucky users face problems with software instability with v21. software crashing for no reasons. but some people didnt face it.

for me, i still stick with v20. reason? too lazy to backup and reinstall after upgrade laugh.gif

I want to buy a new phone and currently I'm looking at the N95 (not 8gb) and the N82.

AFAIK both are about the same price, so which one is better overall?

Any downsides on both of these phones?

N95= slider, bigger screen

N82=candy bar, xenon

everything else, almost the same. i prefer slider, unless nokia come out with N82 in smaller dimension (ie nokia 6220?? )

the noise.. with low light will have also.. xenon flash will have noise also depends on dark environment.. n95 flash is not as bright as a xenon flash.. but it does serve it purpose well for being a multi purpose phone

Actually we can have good maps without using our data services, navigational software and fast locking speed with our N95. Just buy a tiny Bluetooth GPS receiver module and pair it with the N95. Well, it'll decrease portability by a notch but the performance is really good. The internal GPS module only has about 6 channels and take ages to get a signal lock. Any external GPS module can get more than 20 channels and lock a signal in just seconds. Holux M-1000 for example is one good recommendation. That way, you don't drain your N95's battery. The Holux M-1000 can easily run for more than 17 hours, good for up to a week's use.

For software you can try using Garmin Mobile XT and one of those Malsingmaps. Its the most accurate and detail map for Malaysia and Singapore. Just support Malsingmap.com, contribute and you'll get a map. Garmin Mobile XT can support S60, Palm and Windows Mobile. For this to work, you need a Garmin-GPS receiver but if you search hard enough, you can find a workaround.

I was trying to connect to a WLAN connection using my N95 today and I found out that the connecting process took longer than my previous firmware! Once I got connected to the network, I started typing the address and far below my expectation, the phone showed an error message stating that there's no gateway reply!

The WiFi access point signal strength is at full bar and is a free public WiFi access point where I used to connect without any problems at all with my older firmware. Anyone has faced the same problem? sweat.gif

p/s: My current firmware version is the latest v21.0.016 whereas my previous firmware was v12.0.0xx (Can't recall)

I faced this problem before, but I guess it might due to the access point's error, even the signal strength is at full bar, it doesn't mean u can connect with it.

btw, just used my WIFI this morning, seems like there will be some errors like it will close the web browser automatically, it didn't show any signs and just close directly, latest firmware still haven't fix this error... mad.gif

I am already using it. Had a field test today to bring me around Putrajaya. So far my combination of navigation software, map and the GPS receiver seems to be very effective. You can try Holux (which is what I am using). I bought mine (Holux M-1000) for RM250 including warranty from a friend I know in Malsingmap.com.

If you want more information, feel free to PM me and I can guide you from there.

I faced this problem before, but I guess it might due to the access point's error, even the signal strength is at full bar, it doesn't mean u can connect with it.

btw, just used my WIFI this morning, seems like there will be some errors like it will close the web browser automatically, it didn't show any signs and just close directly, latest firmware still haven't fix this error... mad.gif

I never had problems connecting to the access point with the previous firmware before. hmm.gif

Wah really ... Guess i'm not the only one who is facing this problem.. Apparently I went thru a website stating that this firmware had WiFi problems but I'm too lazy to check back. sweat.gif . The website stated that the WiFi doesn't stay for long for the new firmware (v21.0.016). I guess we just need to wait for the next update to fix this problem. But I'm so lazy to do any updates anymore. shakehead.gif

Go get it xeNOS No lag even after install many apps and game in it... performance is superb. Yes is does support SDHC... using a Sandisk 4GB one rite now.
To add more umph, high quality camera, smooth video, GPS, BT, Wifi, built-in motion sensor and superb 3D engine. This is one of my favourite phone compare to my Dopod D810 & Sony P1i. In term of speed and sound quality, the N95 pawn them. Only con is no touch screen & average battery life. smile.gif
