saw your blog and I just want to point out that chocolate is toxic for rabbit... please provide only timothy hay and small amount of pellet as supplement...

vege and fruits are allowed but check on the first page for more information on which is safe for rabbit... try not to other than recommended...

EDIT: I do have a blog but not entirely for my Kimi, there is a section for Kimi though... smile.gif

Nicoty I was looking thru your blog too. I have a friend whose rabbit died of chocolate poisoning when small kids fed her rabbit cookies. Please be aware chocolate is toxic to rabbits and will certainly kill them eventually if not immediately.

Sorry to read about Nino. As I went through the blog I got really confused. What did he died of actually? Malocclusion? Did Dr Pillai mention the name of the condition?

next time bring loads of rabbit pellets okie....get one big gunny sack coz the rabbits look emaciated...

carrots and rabbits is a myth. Carrots is considered very starchy food for the rabbits. So, the general Bugs Bunny loves carrot view is not that accurate.

regarding to the nest, may be nature instinct make a doe looks like dont want to take care of youngs..in natural habitat, rabbits has many enemies. so they pretend to be not so caring, so enemies cannot find their nest. if they kerap kali berulang alik to the nest, looks like very caring to kits, then the risk of the enemies find the nest is higher.
pet's bunny may do this to..adopted their wild rabbit instinct.

(deleted and edited: sorry, wrong statement, cannot applied to rabbit)

thats why give them privacy, even we are their owner, dont look at her,her kits and her nest many times a day.

handling the kits with bare hand, said to be turn the kits smell into another smell, that may make the doe abandon her kits..but some people said, pets rabbit dah biasa with human smell esp the owner..so it is not a problem..for me if want to handle jugak the kits, stroke our hand to the doe body first, so the smell of her fur will be on our hand..

rabbit may also move their kits to other place, if the enemies detected the nest.
Kembara, I cannot agree with this statement. The rabbit is not like cat or dog where they can "carry" their young around. They normally just give birth at one place. If they deliver the kits at the wrong place, u need to help put them in a better place. They do not move their kits because they just cannot do that.

tq very much sangterap for correct my mistakes..actually i also never experienced a doe moving the kits..
but i conclude the statement what i understand from what one of our friend said that the doe put the live kits outside, then when died baru put inside nest..so looks like the doe know to move the kit like cat and dog..
then if a doe can move the young, then they will move it according to their nature instinct..
so know my theory is wrong la..bcoz they cannot move their young..
