I have 2 news to share..

Good news:
After 7 days treatment of antibiotic, BabyDinky's condition is getting better. No white, sticky and smelly discharge from her nose. But she will sneeze everytime she approaches her hay rack. If she sneeze badly, the white discharge will come again. So i need to hand-feed her to avoid her from sneezing. The vet said, maybe she alergy to those alfalfa hay. Some rabbit can get sinus like human also. And i have to continue the medicine for another 3 days, but together with the vitamin.

Bad news:
I found a lump on Daddy's right shoulder. The lump is almost a marble ball sized, hard and red. Small bald spot on the lump. But it isnt attached to his bone or flesh. I suspected it is a banign tumor (it happened to some of my hamsters and it can grows within a nite). I made an appointed with Dr Pillai. Will rush him there after work. Pray for him, ok guys...

I learnt from Nino's death. I always check on my rabbits body to find any lump. And this morning i was so pissed off because i have overlooked Daddy. I should have seen the lump earlier. But everytime i pat Daddy, he will lowers his front body and lays his head on the floor. In this position, the lump is hiding between his shoulder bone and his ear. But this morning, he was busy licking BabyDinky when i touched his neck and find this lump. So shocked + sad + pissed off !!

DaddyDino an active bunny. Unexhaustable when it comes to free-run hour. He can jumps up to 2 feets height cage and landing steadily. And really hope the lump removal procedure will not causing any complication to him. And i have to make sure he wont scratches his surgery wound and comsumes his medicine.

A question here.. How to make ur bunny takes its medicine? I have no problem feeding medicine to Dinky using a syringe (without the needle, of course!). Except when it comes to bitter medicine, i have to hold her tight to my chest using one arm. It's no prob bcoz she still small. But i think i will have a problem feeding medicine to Daddy. He will runs away and struggles hard everytime i try to feed him some vitamin. He even will running away when sees i'm holding the syringe. I'm thinking about adding that medicine in his drinking water but afraid he might not drinks his water. So i think i need somebody to help me holding him tight *sigh*.. Or my last resort is to ask the vet to gives him injection (Alternative for syrup antibiotic. Suitable for stubborn rabbit) <--- my bf will not agree with this. He always reminds me, "No cucuk! No cucuk,"

Please.. pray for him.. I'll let ur know his progress, ya...

nico,

is Baby Dinky having some respiratory infection? I understand that you keep a lot of pets with you. I hope you do not rule out some bacterias (rephrase - rabbits do not get cold from influenza virus like humans) happening there. Be extra careful especially yourself too alright...

I suspect it is something called Snuffles <--- click here

I hope Daddy's lump is just little fats growing inside there.

Syringe is a good way for liquid and if you want to feed gel like or cream like medications, you can swap a little on their front PAW. because these fellows are all vain pots want to clean themselves every time. So while cleaning front paw will consume those medicine also....

Good luck!

Will definitely pray for your bunnies...

Sorry to scare you but I believe knowledge is power. I do not underestimate your vet but sometimes we have to be well informed. Most of the delay on healthcare be it human or pets are caused by bad diagnosis. So with us knowing more about these diseases, at least we are aware and when it does happen (touch wood), we know what to do and what to suggest to some of those vets that only know how to treat dogs and cats.

Knowledge is our weapon here.

i am myself do not really agree with injection especially for bunny unless it is out of no choice.. shakehead.gif ......cos injection will stress up bunny unnecessary and mind u , bunny can died if their are under extreme stress or shock. doh.gif pertaining to feeding of medicine, u might 1 2 use a tower to wrap up yr bunny and leave their head outside the tower, this way yr bunny would not be possible to move at all icon_idea.gif . use the syringe insert into their month FROM THE SIDE instead of in front and try to inject the liquid fast and the syringe need to insert deep enough in order for u to do that unsure.gif . this method can ensure the medicine straight away swallow by the bunny.....hope these help.... rclxms.gif

As I mentioned earlier, rabbits' "flu" is not caused by virus, it is cause more by bacteria. Human flu caused by virus and I do not think they can cross species.

EncikApeq,

Baby rabbit urine can range from light yellow to rusty or brown color. It may be a sign of dehydration. I believe you are using water bottle for them? General rule of thumb is that, rabbits usually drink more from bowl. You can try getting a reasonable sized ceramic bowl and give them water through the bowl.

I believe it is normal. I have seen a lot of this in younger rabbits. Unless it is really smelly and that may indicate diarrhea. Just to make sure, look at their vents and see if there are any diarrhea stains. If they have regular round poo, then it is just urine. Just give more water will do.

Hope this help.

Some progress on Daddy:

I sent him to vet yesterday. At first, the vet also tought the lump was a tumor. So he said he's going to give an injection to dissolve the lump and ask me to bring Daddy home and see if it will getting bigger or not. But, soon as the needle touched the lump, the pus came out. So Dr Pillai said, he must flush them out. Normally, Dr Pillai will spray (to numb that affected part) first, but yesterday we're so busy holding Daddy (it needs 4 person to make Daddy sit still...he's so strong!) and the thick pus kept coming out. So Dr Pillai finished the procedure without any bius.

Dr Pillai made a bigger hole using a big needle and flushed. He said it was 3/4 removed. I still need to give Daddy an antibiotic and anti-infalamation and see if the abccess appear again within this 3-4 days.

Soon after returned home (around 7.30pm) , Daddy ran to him cage and sit at the corner. He was stressed. I sliced some apple, pear and carrot and put some timothy (just got from Chin yesterday morning) and alfalfa in his feeding bowl, but he didnt touch. He looked pain everytime i tried to pat him. So i left him alone and settled down himself. I covered his cage with blanket so the others (especially my cat Momoy who always sit on his cage and watching him and the kits) activity wont disturb him.

I peeked his cage to see his condition. I saw he ate, but in a small amount each time.

Daddy is sharing the playpen (linked to his cage and Dinky's cage) with Dinky. So, after i put Dinky back to her cage, i opened Daddy's door if he might want to walk around. About 12.30am, i saw Daddy in the playpen.. walking slowly towards Dinky's cage and laid there. I touched him, and he still showed some pain.

2.00am, Daddy was playing and acting like normal. He ate, he kacau MickyBell and Dinky (become horny again tongue.gif), he shreded the toilet paper.. Wah.. i was so relieved and happy to see him ok. I applied some cream on the wound and he showed no pain this time biggrin.gif.

This morning i tried to feed him antibiotic and anti-inflamation(liquid type) , but he's so stubborn. Only a few drops managed to get into his mouth. The rest habis meleleh, he refused to swallow.. Notty... notty...

Thanx for u guys support biggrin.gif, especially Wchui. He called and replied my sms. I dont want Wchui to feel regret for gave Daddy to me. I promise i'll do all the best i can for Daddy and the kits.

Yeah.. i read in article taht said Rabbit cannot get our flu, cough n fever. But rabbit can be a vector (a medium to transfer our disease or othe human).

since yr wabbits are still so young, my suggestion is to give them very simple food, good quality pellets, alfafa hay and water (this is how i raise my bun bun) icon_idea.gif . pertaining to carrot or fruits, it is just a treat to the rabbit. give them twice in a week with small amount will be sufficient. yr bunny need high protein such as pellets and alfafa hay to grow....do not be surprise that they are very active during this growing period, they tend to eat a lot, pee and poo (big and round in shape) a lot, this is actually indicating that they are very healthy rclxms.gif .....red to orange pee pee, as far as i am concern should be ok, sometime wabbit's pee pee can be in brown colour rolleyes.gif .......pertaining to the milky pee pee......do not worry, it indicate that yr wabbit pee contain high calcium, if they drink a lot, it should be ok. thumbup.gif

You can try to advertise in garage sale. Btw, why not you adopt or buy the same sex rather then male and female?
