hi, would like to check with u all why my bunny fur keeping on dropping? at first i thought it was just seasonal, but i observe this happen since few months back. i bring her to the vet and the vet told me most probably lack of vitamin and advise me to give her quality pallet, but my other bunny has exactly the same diet with her but does not face fur dropping problem at all, may i know how to stop my bunny fur from dropping? can i change their diet now, like what u all recommend the oxbow pallet, i am so afraid to upset their diet.......as they are hyper sensitive.......thanks and good day

QUOTE(djspinnet @ May 7 2008, 06:10 PM) nicoty_yne, yes, nicoty_yne, i agree with u. i have my sweeties one year ago and thank God that they don really give me a lot of problem Sorry to hear about your bunny. General rule is, don't simply feed your rabbits anything that they like. And sometimes you just have no choice but to force feed them good food. And get them to eat hay/grass. I'd like to share my experience... maybe it might help some others, or if there's something wrong I've been doing all these years I can learn from others too. I have been keeping a pair of rabbits since 2001. That's about 7++ years already. Both of them are still alive today. Their lifespan is supposed to be about 12-15 years so they're 3/4 there already and still going strong. I feed my rabbits normal pellets (local pellet, non branded), and my mom would give them veggies if she has leftovers (uncooked of course!). My father buys them imported Australian carrots and gives them a few slices from time to time (a bit overkill actually but he does it anyway Apart from that they much daily on the grass at home (the grass planted in my house is the good quality needle grass type, similar to short hay), and the rest, they roam around the veggie patch at home and eat all the leaves that they like. If there are plants that the rabbit is not supposed to eat, it'll be in a different garden (there's a separator between the two types of gardens in my house). My rabbits are let out into the garden first thing in the morning when my father wakes up, and they've been conditioned to return back to their cage by evening. So they get to play the whole day in the garden (my mom calls it destroying the garden cos they like to bury underground and dig out all her veggie out of the soil), and they're happy. My bunnies also understand me and vice versa. Proper diet + happy bunny = Healthy bunny Hope my experience helps... |

of course, it is very very important to do research and understand the nature of a rabbit.........i know of many people want to have bunny because of their cuteness..........my piece of advice is, do not get 'cheated' by bunny's cuteness, they are cute but does not mean that they are easy to take care (not too tough either), if we are truly care about our sweeties, i am sure that there are so much about them for us to learn...... i would also like to share that bunny generally get stress up very very easily.......for example bunny do not necessary has to take bath......bathing can be very stressful to them, i believe most of our bunnies are kept in hse or even outdoor, we do not put them at a very dirty environment (except for those owner who themselves also not really concern about cleanliness), further, bunny frequently clean themselves and in actual fact, they are a very clean creature. what we should concern most is their cage and the environment that they live in. make sure u wash their cage at least twice a week and pls do not put them to under a hot and humid environment, they will get heat stoke easily. bunny can stand very cold weather but not the opposite.........these are just a piece of advice.......for us, bunny might just play a little role in our life, but for them, we are their everything.......so love yr bunny in a right way and i am sure yr bunny knows .....

QUOTE(nicoty_yne @ May 8 2008, 02:03 PM) I have 2 news to share.. i am myself do not really agree with injection especially for bunny unless it is out of no choice.. Good news: After 7 days treatment of antibiotic, BabyDinky's condition is getting better. No white, sticky and smelly discharge from her nose. But she will sneeze everytime she approaches her hay rack. If she sneeze badly, the white discharge will come again. So i need to hand-feed her to avoid her from sneezing. The vet said, maybe she alergy to those alfalfa hay. Some rabbit can get sinus like human also. And i have to continue the medicine for another 3 days, but together with the vitamin. Bad news: I found a lump on Daddy's right shoulder. The lump is almost a marble ball sized, hard and red. Small bald spot on the lump. But it isnt attached to his bone or flesh. I suspected it is a banign tumor (it happened to some of my hamsters and it can grows within a nite). I made an appointed with Dr Pillai. Will rush him there after work. Pray for him, ok guys... I learnt from Nino's death. I always check on my rabbits body to find any lump. And this morning i was so pissed off because i have overlooked Daddy. I should have seen the lump earlier. But everytime i pat Daddy, he will lowers his front body and lays his head on the floor. In this position, the lump is hiding between his shoulder bone and his ear. But this morning, he was busy licking BabyDinky when i touched his neck and find this lump. So shocked + sad + pissed off !! DaddyDino an active bunny. Unexhaustable when it comes to free-run hour. He can jumps up to 2 feets height cage and landing steadily. And really hope the lump removal procedure will not causing any complication to him. And i have to make sure he wont scratches his surgery wound and comsumes his medicine. A question here.. How to make ur bunny takes its medicine? I have no problem feeding medicine to Dinky using a syringe (without the needle, of course!). Except when it comes to bitter medicine, i have to hold her tight to my chest using one arm. It's no prob bcoz she still small. But i think i will have a problem feeding medicine to Daddy. He will runs away and struggles hard everytime i try to feed him some vitamin. He even will running away when sees i'm holding the syringe. I'm thinking about adding that medicine in his drinking water but afraid he might not drinks his water. So i think i need somebody to help me holding him tight *sigh*.. Or my last resort is to ask the vet to gives him injection (Alternative for syrup antibiotic. Suitable for stubborn rabbit) <--- my bf will not agree with this. He always reminds me, "No cucuk! No cucuk," Please.. pray for him.. I'll let ur know his progress, ya... |
