Hi there, since this is my first playing contra in my 2 years in stock trade, I'm a little bit confuse about whether I need to ....

CASE

i) Bought on : 1/1/2009
ii) Cash On Hand : RM 10000
iii) Shares + Brokerage : RM 15000

If I manage to sell the shares on (with profit):

a) Day 1 (2/1/2009) : ?
b) Day 2 (3/1/2009) : ?
c) Day 3 (4/1/2009) : ?

Do I need to pay any of the balance (RM 5000) on the fourth day aka settlement date first before receiving the profit on the 5th or 6th day?

Confuse a little bit rclxub.gif .. Hope that all can understand ..

And Thank You notworthy.gif

Regarding DIVIDED, Why most company need to adjust the price after ex-date. Eg, If div 10sen, after ex date the price will drop 10sen.

If this the case, it no point to pay divided as the company only use our money to pay us. Somemore, we need to pay income tax for the divided.

That's why don't wait for the div payout. Buy and sell when you think the price and time is correct! biggrin.gif

Although you see price being adjusted down after ex-date. But if company dividend still intact and sustainable, its price will move back up slowly.

See how generous dividend on BAT, JTinter, Guiness etc, after ex, price being adjusted down significantly, but afterwards slowly creep up again.
If it is not creeping up while still give same dividend, it means its dividend yield become higher and more attractive, that's why people buy and resulted price creeping up.

You only see the effect in long term, not several days prior before and after the ex-date.

Yey, thanks for the info. thumbup.gif It helps a lot. Sometimes using an 'extra' fund from the limit given because didn't know the exact balance account .... the system take 1-2 days to update the account sometimes .. sweat.gif

Hello there, I've a question again regarding the contra .

If I bought a shares on Monday ..

Cases :

1) Bought 0.200 Sell 0.205
2) Bought 0.200 Sell 0.205
3) Bought 0.195 Sell 0.210
4) Bought 0.225 Sell 0.225

If I bought and sold the same shares in the same day, will they charge me brokerage rate for each transaction?

EG:
Fixed total brokerage to make it easy (RM23 for bought and RM 25 for sale) - RM 45 for each buy and sell.

Following the cases above, will they charge me brokerage rate for RM45x4 times?

Thank you laugh.gif

I think they'll lump the brokerage charges as one for multiple buy and sell on the same trading day.

If I'm sending a check to my broker tomorrow to add to my trust account so that I can buy with lower brokerage rate, how long will the check take to clear before the amount is topped up in my trust account?

Can anyone help me to open CDS account?

TQ

Go to stockbroking firms like JF Apex or Kenanga, or certain branches of CIMB or Maybank. Ask at the counter - they'll help you open a CDS account.

I'm going to open a CDS account myself today. With HDBS. Maybe with another firm too, if I have the time biggrin.gif
