Guys, i newbie in this thread. Please give me some advise. Last year i been modified my Gen 2 1.6 auto simple exhaust setup. i just modified the 4-2-1 setup extractor and take out the original 4-1 with Cat.Con and i added a bullet after the original midbox. The original S-flow muffler i still kept it in place.

The problem is i felt the exhaust flow is not that smooth and fuel consumption was not improved. rclxub.gif

But can feel the low end torque improved a bit. However High end torque and top speed were reduced. I also relocated the O2 sensor already.

Please any sifu here can give me some advise? sweat.gif

throw your midbox n place ur bullet at the center position of the car...better pickup...

anyway it is normal that the fuel is not really improved in some cases...mostly it is caused by our right foot...

install a fuel pressure regulator to help in this kind of situation...

the fpr is used to ensure the correct amount of fuel is supplied to the engine for combustion...there is no such thing as set to high performance or low performance...

u mod other setting towards hi perf. n the fpr is adjusted to suit the setup...

Hi guys,

I am returning my company car soon as i am going to leave the job.

I have a tight budget around 30 - 50k, looking for a vechicle mainly to and from work place.

I have the following in mind, but uncertain which is the best option, as i have not used proton for many years, my perception of proton still remain at year 2002 with my ex-wira and ex-satria.

Your advice urgently needed.

Options:
Used Gen 2 year 2004 - 2007; or
Used Perdana V6 year 2003 - 2004; or
New Gen 2 (price is high - but might opt for longer repayment period).

Another question: do you want where can i find a reliable honest used car dealer that carrys plenty of proton model - i am staying in Subang USJ?

Thanks in advance.

used car dealer are never honest.....get from auction house better.

Perdana are extremely high in maintenance. Gen2 2004 - 2007 do not comes with CPS but the new Gen2 is equiped with CPS and it's good in terms of performance. Perhaps u may consider Waja as well.

It is not fair to classify user card dealer as "never honest". It is more polite for us to say that they're just looking for earning. Keep in mind that their salary is mostly on commission basis and they are specialized salesman, not mechanics. blush.gif

Now, MO:

Used Perdana V6 ; I never trust second hand Perdana since the issue with their gearbox. Read around, you'll notice a trend in which certain batch of Perdana will have the same gearbox issue. However, if you manage to find one with a solid service history or trust-worthy Perdana, then go ahead. Perdana is better in all way compares to Gen-2. Only loses to the fact that Perdana is more for the "senior citizens" compares to Gen-2. laugh.gif

Normal Gen 2 vs Gen 2 CPS; Think of it as the following.

Gen-2 uses campro engine. Campro engine come with CPS. But due to "some" issue, they release initial Gen-2 w/o CPS. CPS allows the engine to work at the peak performance. So, in a layman term, gen2 = car. gen2 cps = "performance-tuned" car. laugh.gif

My question is this: how "tuned" you wanted your car to be. If you want an office-home car, my advice is Gen2. The original non-CPS spec is good enough to out-speed alot of stock cars in KL. If you want to "fly", better get a CPS.

The only solid advice (from alot of ppl here), if you are going for Gen-2, please try to get manual version if you can. I have auto vers, and it is bloody slow laugh.gif . Need to "convert" the exhaust in order to fly (because of the auto gearbox's catcon box).

Last point to ponder = will you spend 55K for 9 years, or will you spend 30K for 9 years? (assuming you manage to find a decent/nice second hand gen2)

forgot to add: I do have friend in second hand car business. I can pm you the number, but I cant/not able to vouch for him, since I only bought 1 car from him so far. I can only say that he's in the business/company since 1997, and that he is still in the same business/company. laugh.gif

Dovienya: What extent did you 'convert' your exhaust? Just remove catcon? Any downsides to it?

all cars got cat con...

the way dovienya replied looks like he said the auto gearbox's cat con box? rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

the cat con is part of the exhaust assy...for a campro, it is located immediately after the engine head at the exhaust manifold...

a cat con is not located in any of the gearbox be it a manual or auto icon_rolleyes.gif

CPS and normal Campro sharing the same chassis, the front is about RM150-180, Rear I'm not sure but should be around that price. While antiroll bar is about RM400+

Sorry Sorry... mistake mistake... blush.gif blush.gif

What I was refering to is
1. Item-A = most people will change to aftermarket exhaust as they claims there is a "filter"-thing in the original setup that reduces the overall horsepower.

2. Item-B = most auto gearbox will have this. It convert some horsepower as replacement for clutchs (?).

Sorry, my mistake.. forgot what they mean, so refer to both items as catcon.. sorry sorry.
