hi.. i'm about to get myself a hamster.. may i know as a beginner, which type of hamster should i buy? i mean which type is easier to keep? thanks! wink.gif

since u're a beginner, it's more advisable to buy a syrian cos they're easier to hold n play with.. if u want dwarf hamsters, there are winter white, russian campbell, and roborovski.. i personally reccomend u to buy winter white if u want tame dwarf hamster, but if u wan tame RC i think u can get from breeder cos pet shop RC usually bites.. robo, for me it's only to c, cant play much as it very scared of human n run very fast.. just my 2 cents smile.gif

For me, i think you better get a Syrian, coz, they are the most easiest to tame and besides that, Syrians are not as dast as the small Hamsters. No problem to catch it. icon_rolleyes.gif

actually syrian can run quite fast too..
it is because of their bigger size they look like moving slower..
i've tested with syrian laugh.gif ..when i put him on the bed..he run here and there and then suddenly change to turbo mode..very fast and suddenly hit the wall..luckily nothing happened to my hammy..after that my hammy look like shocked or something..very funny biggrin.gif

Laine u better buy something that u like cos u r gonna keep it for a long time... syrians r nice to handle cos they r big but some syrians bite too..roboskwi r fast runners but very nice to handle if u got the time to play with them everyday n they wont bite... winter white is also a nice hamster to play with but some r bitey too... I breed hamsters n i have lots of them with me..russian campbells if u play with them while young r asl onice hamsters but u must make sure u have time for them otherwise they r also bitey.. My advise will be that u buy a hamster that u like most n make sure the hamster is not the bitey one he he...

winter gold is actually winter white pudding, just that some shops like to use fancy names for them.. so, yah it's ok to put them together..

my hamster gave birth to TEN pups.. never seen so many before, no wonder she was so fat.. the prob is, she makes a nest in the litter sand.. is it ok? the litter sand is clean la cos i just changed it, who noes she go n make nest there doh.gif

my ques is, can i move the toilet containing babies to a bigger cage? will it confuse the mother? my current cage too small for 11 hamsters(that is, if all survive la)..

thanks for all the replies! most probably the other one will be a female as i would not want them to breed also.. no place to keep la lol..

but is it more advisable to keep 1 or 2? I scared that my pudding like very lonely la alone... but i read that they prefer to live alone than share territory...

sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif NO! I got myself 2 robos as a beginner and having tough time with handling them cry.gif cry.gif After having a Syrian and I know it's better for beginner to have a Syrian. Thanks to JTL for the tame Syrian (Jackjack) who never bite anyone before even until now. So, it's important that a beginner to get from a good breeder or small pet shop who have people really take care of pets they are selling. Not so much on which type of hammy I like cause I really like robos before I started to keep hammies as they looks really cute but sweat.gif too difficult to handle as I've no experience at all. For me, Syrian is the best after all. Beginner who wanna to have a hammy do consider this as I'm telling with my experience, you'll love he or she after some time and love it even more. biggrin.gif

How many packets u want? But I'm leaving tomorrow early morning back to Ipoh already. Maybe you can ask Blurjoey for help cause he'll be going to Ipoh next week. I have one in hand but my current packet is finishing. Wish I can help you but you are too late to ask la. Let me ask Blurjoey how to help you up. You can PM me or Blurjoey for discussion.

What else do you want to get from KL? I know the stuff for hammy is kinda limited. sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

hmm, I saw a packet of prestige in Pretty Pets there. There is harry hamster there too, which is quite a good brand. You can try there first if you are desperate of the hamster food. smile.gif
