I think I will give it a try also when my corncob is finished. At the moment I am using only corncob as bedding for momo and changes it once a week. Sometimes, at the end of the week - her tank does smell too.

I didn't know that syrian doesn't need sand bath. I put Momo in a smaller tank with the sand bath everytime while i clean her 2ft tank. She doesn't smell but I just thought she might enjoy digging the sand. Momo does peed in her wheels too! She peed in her toilet but sometimes also at a corner of the tank.

Is the jackjack's sanko wheel bigger than the safari one? I am looking a bigger wheel for my momo.

erm, i fill the bottom of a small tank with bathing sand and let her play with it while i clean her normal tank. It is just for a while. Once her tank is clean and tidy I will remove her from the smaller tank and put her inside her regular one again. I also put some sand in a small container inside her tank for toilet purposes. She usually peed on it and sometimes she digs the sand out. This is regularly replaced.

Yes, safari wheel is good enough.
For my case, my momo is very attached to her wheel and she runs like crazy in it. Sometimes she run too fast and will knock her head there.
She usually sleeps at her wheel as well. Hence, I might look for a bigger one for her so she will run more comfortable in it.

Yes, but she is doing it for wodent wheel sr, which might be a little too big to fit inside the 2 ft tank, as per what blurjoey mentioned.

Saw the thread but a lot of the item quite small, dunno suitable for syrian or not....
Furthermore later the 2ft tank become too cramp with stuff.

Hehe - I am changing it for a few reasons:
1) my momo is crazy about her wheels and she spend most of her time there. Even sleep on and under the wheel. The current safari is a bit cramp for her as you can see her back is slightly arched when she is running in her wheel. That's is not very good for her in the long run.

2) My momo tank is inside my bedroom and the current wheel is quite noisy. Nezumitaro has teached me to insert a rubber padding to reduce the noise. Sometimes it work, sometimes it doesn't. Recently, i notice momo likes to nibble on the rubber and try to pull it out. I don't think it is good for her and it also create more noise than the running wheel when she keep pulling and banging the wheel on the tank, especially in the middle of the night.

3) the wodent wheel looks interesting and fun! It remind me of movable mouse holes, and it is very safe for a hamster. I think momo will have lots of fun with it.

I still think that safari is a good basic wheel, for it is quite safe and easy to clean.

Recently i notice something very funny when I clean momo's tank. Her salon's brush has no more bristle left. I think she went and chew them away . Anyone has the same situation for those who bought the salon, or it is just my momo?

Last time when i stay in KL, I brought my hamsters back to Ipoh too - somemore travel by ekspress bus.
I carry them in a carrier (hidden in a big paper bag), when reach home only put into a cage.

Hmm, all the discussion about hamster just remind me of the Ipoh petshop mentioned by blurjoey, I still haven't got time to go and kepoh there - I wonder if i can still see white hammies there or not...

hmm, I saw a packet of prestige in Pretty Pets there. There is harry hamster there too, which is quite a good brand. You can try there first if you are desperate of the hamster food.

You know where is Ipoh Garden Pizza Hut? It is the one of the shoplots behind Pizza Hut but at the other end there.
They don't sell hamster, only dogs but they do carry some basic stuff like food and bedding for hamster.

hehe...actually I took a few pictures, but only got one with her standing still .
The others has her running around as well. You can actually see the other "spoilt" pictures in shushu's blog.

I was there yesterday to refill my doggies stuff and bought a packet too.
I think I spend really a lot yesterday until the owner also give me more discount. I got it for RM15. Don't dare to buy more since it is expiring end of this year and my current packet still left 25%. Bought some meadow grass to add into Momo's bedding. Smell nice but she leave them alone.
