QUOTE(IcedNyior @ Apr 3 2008, 11:49 PM) I just got my hamster yesterday. Seems pretty scared tho, keeps running away when I want to pick it up and squeals. Im not so sure what species it is tho, can u guys help? Your WW looks thin, anyway, it looks like an adult too. ![]() how do i make it more tame? The colour is agouti. QUOTE(IcedNyior @ Apr 4 2008, 12:42 PM) so does this hamster have to be housed seperately? Im not sure what it eats. i give it food but the food like never seems to diminish and always scattered everywhere For WW, it is best to house separately so that no fights would come about. Some may say no lah, keep in pairs lah.... but trust me, WW are happier when housed alone.QUOTE(anderyna @ Apr 4 2008, 02:19 PM) My two cutie did not finish their food, they scattered the food everywhere Unfinished food, you refill everyday? I only refill every 2 to 3 days, coz it is just food wastage if you keep refill and refill everyday. Hamsters are hoarders, they keep food in their secret storage and won't go hungry for long. So just let your hamster be.I refll their food 1 day once, I thought hammy like to eat much.. But they just eat some |

I usually check around the tank to see whether theres any food left. If theres a little left, i refill, if not, you know what i'll do.

QUOTE(xSnail @ Apr 4 2008, 04:39 PM) Hey guys! You can see from those pet shop who keep few adults Syrians together, ended up all injured here and there. It's a good example. You can really see them fight and biting each other. I don't think if you already know the fact that they are solitary and yet still wanna take the risk of harming the hamsters by putting them together. Hope you can understand why we never put them together especially for those who do research before keeping them. If you wanna know and 'experince' more, you can go visit those big pet shops which they put adult Syrians together.Just out of curiosity eh, has anyone house two syrians before and they are doing well even they are adult? I didn't put my hammies together in a cage.Perhaps I'm the one who misread what you wrote. Heh. I do understand that they are solitary. I read up everything basic that i should know before i get my hamsters. I don't play with their life. Like I said, just out of curiosity. Just wanted to know if any forum-er doing this in here. Maybe I'm a newbie, but I know what I'm doing and my responsibilities. And I believe my hamsters are doing very very very fine. |

I know you never do it, I also don't think if someone who do this will admit here as he or she will get fire from those hamster lovers. I'm just said that you can see the actual condition in pet shops. I mean those who really understand hamster and love their hamsters won't do that. Please get me right. QUOTE(SiLVeRHybRiD @ Apr 4 2008, 06:29 PM) how bout us eh? Go buy the Habitrail tubes and connectors for your WW, Ovo tubes is too big for WW. You gotta check out the size, If your WW's head can go through mean the whole body can go through the tubes. I used mini tubes for my robos last time when they stayed in the Habitrail Safari. anyways solved my problem about the hamster cannot climb into the habitrail ovo food section.. i juz went to buy a wooden ladder and now it helps my lil WW to climb up i realise 1 thing my hammie likes to bite my hand why ar? Your hamsters are not tame yet. You must wash your hands before you touch them. They bite for 2 reasons: 1) your hands smell like food, so they wanna eat. 2) they feel threaten If they are new to you, just let them get used to your smell first by putting your clean hand in the cage. Avoid them bitting you. Then after few days, try to stroke them on their back, if they don;t run away, you can try picking them up. Do not just open the lid or the cage and catch them. They'll feel scared and defense for their life. Good luck to you! |
