Just dl the newer version of the software updater (v1.4.32)..
well.. mine still can read and write chinese.. no prob at all

weired things, write chinese only can support in SMS
cannot type is other text box example web search

dont have Writing Languages function, make me need to copy paste from SMS

one quick question.. what if im updating my phone and halfway my internet connection lost (u know tmnut la).. phone corrupted?

Updater will only proceed once the full file is received. It won't update while still downloading file. So when it's starting to update, internet putus also no problem. But if power putus, there you go, N82 brick.

btw, good luck on dl-ing 113.2mb file on tmnet...

Can it be fixed outside if the N82 is bricked?

If ur N82 is ORI (m'sia or sg), thn ur product code should be APAC Region pc. So, no need to change..juz straight away update by Nokia software updater. As for AP set, i'm not sure...coz some are Apac region pc but some not.
Correct me if i'm wrong!!!

mine product code use to be the Emerging Market*, got no chinese language and cannot read chinese wording,
after flashing to Malaysian product code and firmware upgrade, atlast can see chinese word....

To all who has problem upgrading firmware:

Step 1: Suggest you have latest Nokia PC Suite ver 6.85. Do a search in google "Download Nokia PC Suite" or someone provided the link in previous pages.

Step 2: Download NSU = Nokia Software Updater (or whatever it is called)

Install it, preferably in WinXP (most ppl will be running this platform)

Step 3: Plug in your phone using USB cable, select PC Suite in phone. Let Nokia PC Suite auto detect everything.

Step 4: Remember to set your phone Profile to General. If it is not General, the NSU will not work.

Advise you to do a phone memory backup, although not necessary.

Step 5: Open NSU and follow the steps.
(a) detect phone (1-2 min)
(b) download 113MB (depends on your bandwidth, mine is <15min on 2MB LL)
© Firmware upgrade (5-10 min)

Some advise:
- Make sure your phone is on full charge, or else plug into charger while updating.
- Make sure your PC have stable electricity power. Better to use laptop (with full charge batteries) running on AC power.

Bad things always happen right at the most crucial second, i.e. "updating firmware"
