QUOTE(NewKid @ Dec 28 2007, 01:47 PM) A-GPS (Assisted GPS) means u are not only using navigation satelite to know where u are, but u are also using Base Stations (transmitter) of ur GSM/UMTS to find your location. there is a fee for using A-GPS because u are transmitting GPRS data to the stations for your triangulations. Where as Normal GPS is FOC even if you use it 24hrs a day. For the chipset i am not sure myself. Maybe there the same with Nokia LD-4W Wireless GPS Module. Locking may vary depends where you are. Cold fix may take 1 minute. for your 10-15 seconds it is hot fix. meaning the gps knows from your previous location, what satelite to look for. try a turning it on somewhere far. when u balik kampong maybe... Accuaracy of GPS in theory now is 10m. However my previous experience with Garmin, if u can get more than 7 sat at a time, u maybe able to go below this. Max sat at a time can be seen in Malaysia is 9 sats will give u accuracy of 1m and below. Have yet to get the oppurtunity to try it with N82. With the Garmin GPS, there is an averaging function where the longer u stay the more accurate your position is by taking average reading. Its not necessarily due to compression. You see, when u take picture, the subject and background is important. The more the colour it has, the more details (lines, shapes, writtings etc etc) it has, the more information is needed to contruct the image i.e. bigger image size. If u take a picture of a single coloured, no lines, no details the size would be smaller. eq. white piece of A4 paper hope that helps... |

QUOTE(bhorng @ Jan 3 2008, 10:47 AM) Can anyone here tell me more about the A-GPS work? Will it keep on using our GSM or 3G to send out cordination and apply charges into our phone bill? Refer HERE...I came to know from a friend of mine that the A-GPS will use our connectivity (such as 3G, 3.5G, GPRS) to check our cordination. So, need clarification on this. Thank you. AGPS will use connectivity (such as 3G, 3.5G, GPRS)....Only 8KB connection.. |

QUOTE(bhorng @ Jan 3 2008, 11:15 AM) Thakn you for the replied. ANyway, is this mean , everytime when it re-located or user move away from the point it started, then it will send a 8KB data to the server and we will be charge for it? This mean, if we turn it on for locating a 10KM distance from the start point, we will be charge, for examaple, A-GPS will send a signal out at every 100m, means that will be 100 times signal send out? If every signal send is 8KB, that means it will be 8MB data sent? No...It just assist the GPS connection...When seaching GPS time only...After got fix then no more..Thank you. |

QUOTE(WiLyi @ Jan 3 2008, 11:25 AM) nope...accordin to my understanding, AGPS only send approximately 8kb in da initial locking so tt da time required to lock ur position could be reduced n locked fast...later that, as long as u r connected or locked, it wouldn't send any data..... correct it if i'm wrong too thanks |
