R680 works in CF mode...sort of. And Crysis has problem with CF.

Maybe with vanilla CF. R680 is not vanilla R680...

Doesn't look impressive on that review based upon the charts but the reviewers seem to think that it is a great card. Priced at USD449? Hmm, that's almost double of HD3870. If it really is priced and performed as seen on that review, this card is a waste of money for HD38xx owners that want to upgrade...

Added on January 22, 2008, 10:05 pmOh, btw, butthead012, you do not need to put the [color=red] code for HTTP. It is automatically coloured red and you can actually click on it to be directed to the website.

remember guys...crysis is optimized for Nvidia...so that explains d low scores on d X2 card. Dunno...maybe it'll get better in da official catalyst driver...

These caught my eye...
QUOTE
The Radeon HD 3870 X2 on the bench today is a very early sample of the card and the drivers even more so. That's not to say the numbers you're about to see aren't accurate, it's just we wish we could have tested it closer to launch with proper software support.

So, it's not really an accurate benchmark...Thank GOD~! I would've been very disappointed if it was...

QUOTE
Our testing occurred in an office adjacent to one of the main railroad arteries in southern California, and it was not uncommon that the sound of the passing trains were drowned out by the X2's fan when under a full graphics load. Not exaggerating.

OMG, do we need 2 x HR03GT? Each in different mounting position?

QUOTE
Something you won't find in the specs is that this video card will work on any PCI-Express X16 capable motherboard. It was widely assumed in the early-going that the card would only work on motherboards that support CrossFire technology. In reality, however, the CrossFire option does not even become available in the Catalyst driver when using this card. All CrossFire connectivity appears to be handled internally, and the computer recognizes the X2 as a single video card.

Yes, it doesn't require CF boards. Hurrah~!

QUOTE
We received this card very shortly after AMD started sampling to board partners, and as such the driver we managed to download from the AMD ftp was an early build of what we believe wound up being Catalyst 7.12.

Again, non-optimized drivers.

the time has come for amd to push up the high end.Although high end normally gives low profit, but it shows whos the best and affects the entire range!
just my thought

Ok, here's a good and trustworthy review: http://www.tomshardware.com/2008/01/23/ati...ge_fury_maxx_2/

[attachmentid=385337]
The chart above sums it up for me. At USD400+ (Tomshardware actually mentioned the price was at USD586), this card ain't worth the upgrade from my HD3870.

MSRP Price will be US449=+-RM1550. Expect double the HD 3870 price for now.
