true, "short" sellers are being squeezed, authority "punished" by slapping a bigger fine aka upgrade of margin requirements.

Europa almost 95% red and US Future = GREEN?

rumours from Dubai, the promise land that more to come?

Let visit banks with big exposure in Dubai development.

The first thing I learn about trading US, don't pay too much attention to any local brokerage or local investment advisers or even friends who think they know.  They just know as much as you are. Nowadays, all the info are available to you first hand from the Internet directly including US Govt data.  You just have to make best use of this info whether you're Bull or Bear.

IMO, since you're not a day trader, Scottrade deal is pretty good and it is safe (SIPC) biggrin.gif

Thanks for the heads up. For day trade I rather do local, HK or SG. What US stocks I prefer long term. Anyway got what stocks you do day trade ah?

Beware of C and UYG..

The moving is unreasonable.. They are the big stackholder in Dubai crisis.

Will eventually drop..

nah, what is your basis of BIG stakeholder? I hope you got data to support your story, do not simply assume.
Today CITI is green, not RED.

Banks Loan Exposure to The UAE
Bank Loans to UAE (blns of UAE dirhams) In dollars (current FX, blns)
HSBC 62.56 $17.03
Standard Chartered 28.54 $7.77
Barclays 13.14 $3.58
ABN AMRO* 8.23 $2.24
Arab Bank 7.66 $2.09
Citigroup 7.06 $1.92
Bank of Baroda 6.54 $1.78
Bank Saderat Iran 6.38 $1.74
BNP Paribas 6.20 $1.69
Lloyds 5.77 $1.57
Source: Emirates Banks Association

CITI only supply 7% or about USD2 billion. Not big exposure leh.

Thanks to Dubai issue, Oil price looks good at this level. In 200 ERX @ 38.50.

The thing that will really drive US stocks will eventually be consumers spending and Fed moves.
Dubai will be old story soon. Therefore, I'm buying the dips.

Market awaiting more news at home front to see if Black Friday sales
have any positive impact for retailers.

Online retailers line AMZN are expected to win big time, B&M stores may expect flat or slightly down.

Added on November 30, 2009, 11:21 pmSold 200 ERX @ 39.60 for quick profit, $200 is enough for morning yum cha. tongue.gif

By STEPHEN BERNARD and TIM PARADIS – 19 mins ago

NEW YORK – Investors set aside some of their worries about a possible debt crisis and focused instead on encouraging signs about consumer spending. Stocks rose modestly Monday, steadying after Friday's steep drop. Global markets are rebounding after falling in response to news that Dubai World, the main investment arm of the Persian Gulf city-state, asked to defer payments on $60 billion in debt for six months. rclxms.gif

Nope, i don't have.
Recently i just trade commodities stocks.

My own list (Options):
Commodities: AA, X.
Financial stocks: GS, BAC, C.

GS seem nice. It been dropping due to mass selling by its own shareholder.
Can keep for long term even Warren Buffet also keep hold on it smile.gif

Do you guys know how does the margin work in US brokerage? I'm using speedtrader now and recently received a fed call. cry.gif It seems if I get 2 strikes, my account will be suspended for 90 days. I have a few questions:

a) How do they calculate the margin maintenance?
b) How do I prevent a strike if stocks plunge in value other than by wiring in more money? My broker says if I sold some of my position I'm liable for a strike. I'm very confused now. If I sell my position to retain the margin maintenance, I thought it will prevent a strike?

If anyone can answer, I'd be most thankful!
