this good comparison
interactivebrokers=lot charges with inactivity, monthly fee, no doubt low commission and gateway to europe, asia market.

ameritrade; very high margin interest rate average 8.9-9%

Other than interactivebrokers:

www.etrade.com.sg (i am using them, fee is high, $19.99 for 2000 shares)

www.optionsxpress.com.sg
They are both US brokerage firms with office branch in sg.

Welcome to US stock/option trading! biggrin.gif

i contacted scottrade & tradeking they said no able to provide service to malaysian or singaporean, though they provide lowest around 4.50 and 7 dollar a trade.

i contacted itrade as well they said can provide same price as ameritrade at 9.99 per trade and abolish their quarterly 40usd maintenance fee, if i can keep a minimum of 50,000 usd in their account.
still dont quite itrade,

ameritrade respond very efficiently, email will reply in second, i kind of like their service but the problem is if i want to withdrawal money from such account, it be easier can go to their office in singapore right?

so what other us brokerage firm that have office in singapore, malaysia indonesia thailand, hk, atleast if anything going wrong can be there easily right?

i am really confuse now, which one to choose,
i definately prefer those us brokerage firm that have office in singapore at least i can transfer all the stock i have bought earlier in singapore brokerage firm to those us brokerage firm in singapore.

by the way uobkyhian pertrade is usd 40

any comment, need some suggestion.

most local interbroke ; double charge, not very attractive, i want to save cost, by eliminate commission fee,
www.zecco.com no commission fee, for those who interested cancheck it up.
scotrade; pertrade usd 7 with no maintenance fee or inactivity fee,
ameritrade pertrade usd9.99 an no minimal , inactivity or maintenence fee.
tradeking pertrade usd 4.5 and not sure got inactivity fee
optionexpress 14.95 per trade
interactive brokers; not sure per trade how much ?
but their is monthly usd 10 for inactivity fee, lot of charges
etrade;12.99 usd pertrade and quarterly usd 40 maintenance fee, not wise to own this account if less then 50,000 is account
fidelity 19.99 usd pertrade on of the top of the charges

well i think open with ETRADE.CM.sg just put usd 50,000 can get 9.95usd pertrade that fare, they have service center in singapore in uob plaza 1 , raffles place.

unless osk going to cut down their commission so as competetive as
scottrade, zecco, ameitrade, i wont mind open account with osk to trade us stock.

Added on October 8, 2008, 1:16 pmsingapore bank such as uob, ocbc, dbsvicker average ; 40-50 usd pertrade
cimb malaysia; double charge here malaysia flat rm150pertrade plus us brokerage additional charges
osk, tarr security thru singapore securities same as uobkayhian, dbs vicker high charges
citibank sigapore; rate is 0.01% with custody fee usd 2 per counter

Added on October 8, 2008, 1:22 pmif i not mistaken osk didnt charge minimal fee, inactivity fee, or custodian fee for us stock market,
what about pertransection
as if i bought 1000 share pg, at 70usd pershare , how much in total i will be bill?
and dividend i want in usd,? possible no right
and any dividend reinvestment plan via osk? NO right

thanks

Added on October 8, 2008, 1:27 pmany margin account can put usd? if can what is the interest be like? can it be the same as in us bank interest

zecco.com is rubbish if ure area speed less than 2 mb.
and sogotrade need at least 1mb to log in to trade.
no doubt both are equally cheap
zecco founded by american pension fund.
and sogotrade founded by some taiwanese company in taiwan.

for first time trader or investor;
you guy i advice to avoid such account,
remember anything less than usd 10 pertrade, their account service is suck.
best in town is etrade.com, listed company in nasdaq
next optioexpress own by JPMORGAN, not listed

Added on May 13, 2009, 11:24 amanother is ameritrade.com
but their speed also very slow, i am using 1mb, combo package.

hi all,

well, etrade, dont have minimum ; if ure account less than ten k, then they will charge 40 usd every quater.
personally i prefer optioexpress than ameritrade.com
i have all those account etrade.zecco.sogotrade,ameritrade,optioexpress,osk188hk,
i think ameritrade is still lagging during peak hours. sogotrade; jangan harap.
etrade is the best in town, if u have deep pocket.
they use to offer debit card to all account user. i think they have withdrawal them, same with ameritrade.

Added on May 15, 2009, 7:14 ampersonally i am doing online wire to my aboard account, take less than 24hours from uob/hsbc hongkong to us depository account.

i dont know u guys had seen my earlier thread in tech;
just to share, i have check up with the starhub singapore mobile service like digi in malaysia la,
they have this mobile broadband service at 70sgd permonth and their speed are 8mbps, and upload is 4mbps.
then i think no wonder during peak hours of the trading, i cant log in to few substandard securities like, zecco.com, sogotrade.com, mbtrading.com.
anyway i did complain this matter to them,
so got one day when i am working overtime in my office, i noted this 3 securities can be log in easily, then i check my office are corperate package at 600-800 rm permonth.
i am using 1mb maximum rm110 combo package, but i cant even log in my sogotrade account at moment.

best in town;
etrade.com
optioxpress.com
ameritrade.com (slow but hardly fail)

i just wanna share,
if u are a doctor ,pharmacy, engineer, probably u will make something between rm3000-5000 amonth. or in singapore that will be same just that it is in singapore dollar 3000-5000.
what i try to highlight is, malaysia streamyx combo rm 110, are trying to cheat our hard earn money,
why i said so? with rm110 which is 3% of our monthly income and u only get 1mb, that is slow. compare with the starhub in singapore which they provide near x8 the speed and 1/2 the price.

i am in singapore last weekend to handle some business matter, i used my office computer, which are 4mb, so there isnt any problem with the logging in sogotrade.com
i realise that sogotrade isnt the cheapest brokerage in town, so i did open up mbtrading.com as well, as matter of fact i am buying big cap most of time, and the truth is i hardly buying near 100share. so sogotrade isnt the best trading platform for me.
i switched to mb trading.com that even better as i can pay as minimum trading fees of 0.005 pershare. that mean whenever i have bought 100share of british petroleum share or chevron, exxonmobile their commission are less than 1 usd pertrade.

anyway you need to open all the account in town and see for ureself which one is the best.
i have account with zecco.com, mbtrading.com, firstrade.com,scotrade.com(many hidden fees, wont recommend this), sogotrade.com

;premium one
charles schwab ( can apply for their credit card, free for life, easy to withdrawal your money at any atm in the world)
etrade (same as scotrade many hidden fees, make sure have at least usd 50,000 to open this account)
ameritrade.com( founded since 1977 by toronto-dominian bank, and have been cheapest trading platform till firstrade, then zecco,
his motto; no miminum and no maintanence, true as what he said, and have top service team of u have apex account, but their platform are too popular and will hang sometime, which mean it can take longer than usual for u to log in and place order,
there is no realtime quote. )
optioxpress; i am not keen with this due to high trading fees, 15 usd pertrade, but no doubt it is one of the best in execution brokerage.
perhap no one are using them so they can log in easily.
but they do have best chart in all the trading platform, this is vital for day trader.

Added on May 21, 2009, 1:04 pmfor day trader, i suppose etrade will come first and then follow with optioxpress,
i dont encourage people to use etrade, unless u have deep pocket, they have 3monthly usd 40 charges if ure account less than 10,000usd cash.
and pertrade is 13 usd, unless u have 50,000usd then pertrade is 9.99 usd.
i have closed this account because of too many hidden charges.
another thing is soon, they will transfer ure account money to something call etrade bank, which mean if u want to trade need to inform than 1 weeks in adance or else there is "saman" usd 70 pertrade.

good luck

2nd account 2006; osk188.hk

3rd account2009: public bank provide hkse trading platform

good luck

Added on May 21, 2009, 1:13 pmvb1.

depend both equally lowsy,
but i have to said firstrade it started since 1997-1998 by bunch of hongkong immigrant, i said they dont speak english well. many complain said one u put ure money in firstrade, u cant withdrawal it.
personally i havent experience that due to i speak fluent cantonese.

if u have 25,000usd open zecco.com and u get 10 free trade everymonth.
they have poor execution and their online mail, no one will reply one.
and virtually everything need to be done by phone if system down.
it does happen many time especially during peak hours,9-12.

sincerely firstrade better than zecco.com, as zecco are relatively new

Added on May 21, 2009, 1:14 pmif i havent said this zecco are started by american pension fund.

Added on May 21, 2009, 1:28 pmwww.interactivebroker.com is the best if u have minimum of 10,000usd,
same problem, their webpage not user friendly, and manytime difficult to log in so i didnt open this account.
will try later.

i still prefer option number one,
i have business in hongkong, with those trading account, link to my hsbc account in hongkong, i can use my hsbc atm card to do some withdrawal
whenever i want
it depend ure bussiness nature, do u travel to hongkong frequently?
malaysia ringgit is no good in hk, hardly any counter accept them.
and i am not willing to use credit card.

to sunshine;
2) just open a webpage www.osk188.com.hk, there is online platform application form, u dont have to be in hk to open this account. just send them that form after u have completed all ure personal portfolio.
3) public bank they started their trading service early this year around march 2009, only certain branch in Kl, have this service.
so please check it out. minimum depository is 2000rm.

personally i prefer option one,
although hsbc got more charges than others.
i mean u need to keep at least 10,000hkd in advanguard account
for premier account u need to maintain at least 1/2 mil hkd
or else there is a some charges whenever ure account fall below that value.

good luck

Added on May 25, 2009, 2:03 pm if u have opened premier account; u will receive free for life hsbc platinium creditcard

all the best

Added on May 25, 2009, 2:05 pmof course most of the singapore brokerage do offer hkse trading platform,
i wont recommend anyone using them.
there is a custody fees..
u will know what i mean when u open one.

no sifu yet.

there is some annual charges between 0.01-0.03 sen pershare.
but i suppose it not easy to own 1000share of BP, that cost near 40,000usd
may i suggest it time to buy BT instead BP.
their out look is much better and with that dividend 10%++ and history high of near 200usd and mow trade at 5% of original value.....

good luck

it like etrade,
the only advantage is u can withdrawal your fund anytime.

i think if i buy now dividend will also be around 10% only.

there isnt complicated to get rich like buffet,
first buy good company.. with eps been consistently growing
2nd buy good dividend company
3rd combine 1st and 2nd at bargain price. so to see the magic of compound interest.

i believe obama is working hard to keep economic on upward trend.
anyway why sell after all i am buying somemore to average it.
i am not intend to go against those big guys.
