hi im new in this territory too. just opened an account with optionsxpress, theyr rather new ainit.

but i havent completed the new acct requirement that is to send the documents for verification incl the notorious W8-EN

I just ticked no, no, no ,no to most the questions which i think irrelevant to me, based on common sense. i wonder if i need some1 who knows wat these r than i simply ticked?

i only scared the legal consequence should commoner/beginner like me when filing forms as such

thanks
*
Recently i also open with optionxpress and already successfully fulfil the acct requirement.
THe last step was to tt my money to this account and start trading..hehe biggrin.gif

One question that i dun understand. why some1 said that when i convert here at USD1 = RM3.7 but when money reach there, it become 3.3?
For example: i transfer USD1K = RM3700. So when reach there, amount should be around USD1K - USD20(cost fees) = USD980, rite?

Hi dreams_achiever,

May i know which bank you chose to TT your money to OptionXpress ? Are you using online FTT or via bank.
*
Im using RHBBank. Usually TT via bank counter. biggrin.gif
Btw, anyone here trade stock options? I found it this instrument very give very lucrative profits compared to stocks.
Compared to KLSE warrants, it much more volatile. Can rise up to 20x folds during these 3 weeks rally (since early March)

How long did it take to get your Optionxpress??? I applied with zecco, it was like endless trouble during the application. And it's now been 5 business days, and I still haven't got my account yet
*
I submitted my application on 19th Feb. They replied back said they have received my application on 24th Feb and finally my application approved on 27th Feb. All within 6-7 working days.
Did they sent any email notification to you that they received ur application and now pending for approval?
Btw, how much the commission charges for trading options in zecco? OptionsXpress charging USD1.49 for each contract traded. Minimum USD14.99

u guys hv training/experience in option trading b4 or first time just hantam invest wit real money is best experience? lol

my acct wit optionxpress opened d. only require to fax my documents to them for verification.

btw, anyone tried optionxpress virtual trade b4? how realistic is it compare to the real market? or the VT is using the real mkt data, only difference is fake money??

pls advise thanks.
*
For my case, been virtual trading for 1 mth++. It's good to trade virtually first before start trading for real
Reason: to get familiar with trading system in optionsXpress such as buy limit, stop limit, etc..
Differences: besides fake money, the trade execution also difference. Means you can't see buy q or sell q in virtual trading.
In virtual trading, it only be matched if the price in real trade move. You can't manipulate options price in virtual trade. Only in real trade, u can. biggrin.gif

Thx, dreams_achiever
in VT, r we provided with realtime stock chart? if so, where to click ,cant seem to find.
how about if we trade live, does optionxpress provide the realtime stock chart too?

the realtime stock chart is a crucial tool right?

the 'ADD $5k' is unlimited or r we limited to how many times.
i really appreciate it
*
VT doesn't provide charting tools. In real trade, yes. It provide real time charting.
You can go to Quote detail > click any chart and it will redirect you to Flex chart / Basic charting tools.

I din try many times to add more funds into VT. I think no limit gua. Why want to bother with it? lolz
It just tools to get familiarize with Optionxpress system. Once familiar d, get real with it..hehe icon_idea.gif

Another tools that you can consider is OptionsOracle. Google and install it. thumbup.gif

thanks for ur time n reply
then if optionxpress does provide realtime charting, then i don hv to go look for it elsewhere...just weird everyone seem to be using 'more premium' online broker yet scrambling elsewhere (i.e. net) for realtime chart as if it was rare. or even look for third party realtime charting. just wonder wht m i missin

yea i guess, swim in the ocean is best to learn life lesson than pool after acquired basic knowledge...
thx for tips^^

No problem at all.
Glad to share it out with you and good luck in your trading biggrin.gif

FAS is better if you're bullish.  Already up 50% for last 30 days.  D

But, tread careful, IMO, financial sector may not have bottom yet..
eventho a lot of people call DJIA at 6500 was the absolute bottom.

The M2M rules aren't clear yet and the toxic assets re-purchased with private equity - not exactly sure
if the banks/mortgage companies are willing to sell them on the penny on dollar.

Good luck!
*
Noted. It is some sort of index
Anyway, i just monitoring on JP Morgan shares. It already up almost 100% for last 30 days tongue.gif
Call options for March 2009 up almost 20 folds biggrin.gif

I m newbie here and interest to buy some US share. I have read from the start but getting confuse with which brocker to choose and lowest commissions. I m not active trader. My intend is just buy some share, and keep for few years. Which broker is suitable? Please recommend.
*
IMHO, so far i heard Interbank offering low commission fees but need at least USD10K to open account with them.
For optionsXpress, its reliable broker and there is no minimum amount to open account with them but the fees are quite high.
For small traders like me, i open account with OptionsXpress biggrin.gif

Haha..u traded it?
This shares highly speculated and some more under government nationalization plan.
But i think its growth will be limited unless government take hand off it. Let private company take over of it hmm.gif

aig up 800% from it low.
optioexpress, stable but a bit ex
try etrade, ameritrade

Added on April 4, 2009, 12:38 am
sogotrade.com cheap, not so reliable.
zecco.com,
etrade.com
ameritrade.com
*
Wow, thats quite alot of brokers out there.
I checked some of brokers which are quite cheap of fees such as:
etrade.com = $6.99 plus $0.75(per contract)
ameritrade.com = $9.99 + $0.75 per contract

Seem etrade.com cheaper than Optionxpress where it charge USD1.5 percontract but without upfront fees.
Minimum USD14.95.
About AIG up 800%, i beg to differ. From lowest USD0.35 to USD1.62 since early March (462%) sweat.gif
But i dislike AIG, its future are very unclear and may face nationalization soon.
Better look for stable companies such as JPM, GS -> for those ppl like to trade US financial shares biggrin.gif

That's crap. FNM/FRE wasn't up 300% since last week.
Both of these will go to ZERO soon.
Just like GM, it will go to ZERO.
Just as a side note, just to share with some of you who are 'playing' US stocks,  biggrin.gif

I've been in and out of commodities like gold, copper and oil for the past two months..
It's been highly speculative..and it has been a profitable ride as well.

Sold some GLD AT $95.. now..with the pullback, time to buy back some because we all know inflation is going to be higher
with trillions of US dollars being printed.

Bought some copper (FCX), man I love this one..  this thing is going to rocket even
higher when economy is full force and when China is buying up even more cooper for infrastructure building.  thumbup.gif

Bought and sold some USO.. oil futures play.. made some there.. OPEC is driving prices higher,
can't fight them.  biggrin.gif

People asks me why not trade in local Bursa.. Bur who? hehe.. who cares about that.  yawn.gif
*
Nice investment there. Is is some sort of ETFs shares? Anyway, commodities stocks, ETFs & options are the best trade against the inflation.
I will try to learn more to it since i just new to this US market. For now, just aiming for US financial shares. More volatility.

True, what BURSA? it slow like snail. Less volume, less volatility, and sometime having trading suspension due to technical glitch. sweat.gif
Better trade in NYSE. More choices of selection thumbup.gif

Finally done all the steps to setup the US stock account, use TT to transfer

CIMB charges:
service Rm30 + USD15 (dunno which intermediate bank  vmad.gif )
*
RM30? RM5 more expensive if compare to RHB Bank wire transfer charges.
Even commission fees of trading stocks using their terminal also expensive.
If not mistaken last time it was around 0.44% brokerage fees compare to RHBInvest of just 0.42% only.
No wonder CIMB can earn alot there.. sweat.gif

Outlook for next week US market:

I think we should continue to see mini rally extending upwards next week eventho it is a 4 days only trading session.  Here's why - wednesday, Feds will meet to discuss more detail on implementing the uptick rule, bad for shorts, good for longs, that's means more money coming into the market.

Eventho US unemployment has surged, that's seems to be already discounted and a rear-view mirror.

Looking ahead, the US recession has slowed down (but not out yet), credit market is thawing, some banks are reportedly wanting to give the TAFT money back to US govt and Tech stocks seems to be leading the pack. S&P500 racing ahead towards 850, DJ going towards 8200. The REIT has not bottom yet but excess inventory is slowly moving out. The G20 summit meetings have instill good confidences in market all over the world this week.

Good time to place your bets on long for now.

What to watch out for:
The N.Koreans wanting to test their missile err.. ahem comm. satellite rocket
over Japan, - imo, that could trigger unsavory responses from US and its allies, and can spook the regional markets.

Feel free to share your thoughts.
*
Thanks for the outlook.
From TA chart, the MACD histogram bar become smaller. RSI + Stoch nearly overbought.
I think bull gonna end soon. Time to long put options and reap the downward profits.
Strong resistance near 8.3K - 8.4K

If you open your account with OptionxPress, by default it allowed you to trade options (call or put) already.
No need to submit any approval. Besides, it allow you to trade stocks, options and futures. thumbup.gif

Opportunities for longs to get some in.  biggrin.gif

Yup..preferably pullback till 7.5K (at least 3 black candlebars to make it achieveable)
Then will long kao kao.
Anyway, Alcoa 1st quarter result tommorrow will determine whether it is pullback or further south.

Well, you didn't buy some on Wednesday night?  The pullback was the opportunity man!  smile.gif

Yesterday was best day for financial.  Every bank stocks were up.. Wells Fargo has the best run of them all
with over 30%.

It seems the bottoming process already began. Don't wait at the sidelines to wait for the
lowest to get in.. nobody knows when the bottom will in and it is always a rear-view mirror.

I have to take some profits today, selling some of my positions in UCO, FCX and HAL.  tongue.gif

We shall play again next week..    biggrin.gif
*
Yah, me too. Yesterday nite was the big day for financial shares. And more to come next Wednesday.
Most of US banks announce results that will exceed estimation just like Well Fargo.
BAC (Bank of America) was big winner instead. From USD7 to USD9.55 (high USD9.85) -> 36%.
luckily i bought BAC calls and managed to double my investment capital in single nite biggrin.gif

When it comes to buying stocks I am very cautious.Learned some good lesson in my early startup but sometimes being over cautious also not good.
Investing in like BAC doesn't need to be an expert. In a few years time it can go up like 30-40 and above. Probably I set the target too low...sad...

I bought Resorts and Proton almost at the lowest price and making some good money now but when I compare to what I could have made of the US,its
really pathetic and peanut money....
Looks like you are making very good money out there. congrats!
*
Exactly. Once you start trade in US market (specifically US options), you find boring to trade in KLSE anymore..too slow, no volume(for some warrants), low volatility.
Better move all capital to US and start trading there permanently biggrin.gif
Earn US dollars better than Ringgit Malaysia. The good things is we no need to stay there to earn USD..lolx icon_rolleyes.gif
