If you're talking about multitasking, PC is the best option. But when it comes to gaming, next-gen console is the best option for me. Why?

Because first of all, you don't have to upgrade. Just plug and play. You can play most of the games without problem. The graphics are superb. You want to compare it to Crysis (DX10)? I think with the PS3 cell-powered CPU, this is achiveable. Only that we have to wait for someone to make it happen (if its going to happen). Controllers are extensible. You can plug in a mouse and a keyboard if you want to (not sure if PS3 is capable of this but the PS2 is). So, you can play RTS and FPS just like a PC. Lastly, there are some exclusive titles that you won't get for a PC.

p/s: This only applies if you buy all games original. For those who play pirated might not really agree with me since they can just download it and not support the gaming industry.

I've been a console fan for many years and I have to admit it, the PC are able to produce better & stunning graphics. I don't think the PS3 nor the 360 can match it. If I am correct, PS3's RSX uses technologies from GeForce 7series. Therefore in terms of eye candy, PC should be able to beat the PS3.

Agreed with you. With your case ( and many of us ) which you will ended up paying more for graphic card upgrade which will be costing more than new PS3 or XBoX 360.

Unless you are born rich, Console is the best platform for gaming. icon_rolleyes.gif

Pc is not just for gaming thats all we know, lowend pc only for paper work or surfing internet, for multitasking work, we need at least dual core processor to do it, for gaming pc we need at least a good graphic card, so how much we have to spend for a game like Crysis in full/ high display setting, calculate urself. Console they are start for gaming and end for gaming, console no need to install the game into hardisk, u can play every game without install it n only changing the cd, so console really doesn't need high capacity hardisk, u need it when u want to store something media inside the console. I m using pc more than my console in most of time, but for gaming i using my console more than pc, but i spend money on pc are more than my console. But i believe that 75% pc user mostly got their own a console.

Actually, none of the consoles are able to produce full DX10 effects iinm. Both the 360 and PS3 are fundamentally DX9. Please correct me if i'm wrong

Ok, you want to know how next-gen consoles fare against top end PC ?

Wait for Alan Wake...

This game has been "proven" to be equally as good as the PC. The console version is not 100% same with the PC, but just wait and see, you will be amazed at how good, e.g Xbox 360 is, compared to PC.

Note : DX10 ? More like DX9.

An "insider" tweak (heck, just go to tweakguides.com) has a "cheap" method of unlocking the graphical finess of DirectX 10 Crysis... in DirectX 9.

Very High DX 9 vs. Very High DX10 has "no difference whatsoever".

So much for DX10. And I waited Crysis to showcase DX10 only to be told that DX9 can do it too.

In the mean time, its off to drool and wait at...

Added on December 28, 2007, 5:37 pmThis shocked me...

NOTE : Don't shout and me this and that, the game is running on a very high end PC. The PC version's graphics can't get any better than this.

I did go to tweakguides, and look what I found onthis page

Quote from tweakguides.com

"Before we go any further however, it's important to understand that this is not a "DX10 hack", as under DX10 Crysis does indeed have some additional subtle effects which are exclusive and can't be reproduced in DX9"

Your naivety shocked me. All we have to go by is the word of the poster. My PC (8500 GT, AMD 3000+XP) can run Just Cause looking better than that (I have shadows man!). Why dont you post the comparisons done by credible sources instead? Like the Oblivion or Bioshock ones done by IGN (or was it gamespot?). Please do your homework first next time lest you come across as an ignorant fanboy. wink.gif

once again, pc is ever growing, by the mid-high pc as of today, it can already outbeat any consoles made today. But of course, if talking performance per dollar, Xbox360 or PS3 still leads. While some of you still debate which games look better on 1080p, some PC gamers now have ventured into resolution much higher than that, think of playing games on 27-30" LCD monitor with native resolution, even single card solution will be stalled.

Actually you do not need to upgrade your gc every year. My humble 7900 gs have better or equivalent graphics capability as PS3 or Xbox. Gears of Wars or older games such as Prey and Condemned looked better on the pc. Don't forget if you want to run next gen console you'll also need next gen tv which still cost more than 2.5K. If you use old tv, the graphics will not be as good. For PC I can even run it on my good old CRT monitor and they still look better than normal tv.
