Race Driver: GRID(tm) Is all about the race- that period from lights to flag; full of tension, pressure, noise, and action.
Race Driver: GRID will take players to beautifully realised and dramatic race locations over three continents to compete in an unprecedented variety of racing events. Packed with the most powerful race cars - new and classic, circuit and drift - players will compete to conquer the most prestigious official race tracks and championships and then go beyond to compete in challenging city-based competitions, through to road events and urban street races.
In Europe, race gamers will compete on the greatest official tracks in prestige Marques including Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and Pagani. Iconic cities across the U.S. - including San Francisco, Washington DC and Detroit and each with their own atmosphere and events - play hosts to diverse street races. Here, high-performance V8 muscle cars set the pace in aggressive closely fought pack competitions.
In the Far East, Japanese racing culture sets the tone where night races, including Drift racing, take drivers through neon illuminated cities and to outlying mountain roads. There is also the opportunity to compete in races that operate on the fringes of legality in the back streets and industrial areas of Yokohama.
Race Driver: GRID will make use of Codemasters own Ego engine, an evolved version of the Neon engine already used in their previous release Dirt. The damage code is said to have been completely rewritten to allow for persistent damage environments. GRID is also said to feature "the most extensive range of events in the TOCA Race Driver series, combining official circuit-based championships with road races and urban street competitions. The Ego engine will be expanded to deliver a new level of visual detail, physics and an astonishing car damage system
Race Driver: GRID is coming early June of 2008 for the Xbox(R)360, PLAYSTATION(R)3 system and Games for Windows(R).
mostly from the 1series which is toca race driver/pro race driver it was simulation, second was also simulation and 3rd was same..so i guess this is simulation as well
Originally this game was called Race Driver ONE. I already notice this even BEFORE the release of DiRT. Now they come out with a new name GRiD... Hmm, I still prefer ONE than GRiD ! lol
Though nvm, I alwasy thrust Codemasters of their racing games, so I am not worry about it.
Waht to say? I want the old' Honda S2000 around And no lack Peugeot 206 and 206CC as well ! Why people just alwasy drop these few cars ... !_! Who said small car can't run fast?! See Lotus Elise... lol

I thought it was GR1D? anyways, it will be part sim part arcaedish ala Gran Turismo IMO. A pure sim (like rFactor and Live for Speed) is harder to control with a gamepad and that would turn off many fans
ONE was the old name they first used. Since Malaysia Codemasters office also doing alot of job for this game, I really hope to see some local race tracks!!!!!!!
Codemasters alwasy include tracks from alot of countries in their racing games, perhaps Malaysia this time, hmm?
I really hope it got those realistic damage (?) as in NFSPS, but more realistic one la.
Oh well, another racing game. it was like when NFSPS was first annouced, and ppl get overreact bout it like "how awesome the graphic is/got damage summore!/Wah! Got skyline proto/etc etc" but when the game is out, everyone was like "this game bored to hell/Hard to control/EA suck etc etc. To be truth, I really hope Codemaster make something like 1NSANE. Anyone remember this game?
I'd known Codemasters since long long ago from their ColinMcRae series (hope it not ended?), and they already doing 'damage' ever since. So can say that they have more experience in such a thing. Well, still remmeber the days where me and my friend hang in front of PC... laugh extremely loud play CMR05, not really play, but crashing the car around to see the damage effects and who can damage more... and... I won of course... lol...
Yes, NFS make a dissapointment. Well, just don't overjoy anyway, be happy that this game coming real soon, and glad that we have another racing sim on PC, something to filled up the blank in our heart that GT never come PC... right?
lol hate to watch those low resolutions video, usually the compression cause the video looks not accurate. There is another new Developer Diary 1 video available at gametrailers.com also in HD. See the S-P-E-E-D and visual !!!! It a must have game and I rank it as GAME-OF-THE-YEAR !
I view the video frame by frame (use the speed control in WMP), what can I say? It totally AWSOME! Never ever see any othe rgames can do such a thing...
The video showcase great gameplay indeed. If you slow-mo the video and watch the car crash part, where a car infront of the player's car crash to the wall at the left, the car just stunt out to the middle of the track and the player's car just manage to squeez pass and avoid get hit just a few cm! Awsome sense of real racing.
Added on April 9, 2008, 1:32 pmAnd some other things that I really love Codemasters racing games than any others are their REPLY system, it so awsome even in most older games such as CMR05. It so functional that I can even make a video out of it that looks real pro. If I ask some people that not IT player to watch they might though it was real! And I'm very happy that in the new NEON engine, this function is very well preserved.

GT5 concentrate more toward lightning..but they totally sux at gameplay...its not sim at all..
really what about forza motorsports then anyway lets do away with comparisons shall we...as long as PC has better alternative racing games than the crappy milking the franchise crap NFS i am more than happy already...b4 the TDU and DIRT and JUICED 2 days, i almost lost hope on racing games on PC but not any more now

It's still very little good racing games in PC.Most of them is in the consoles.

If you consider racing sims, PC still retains its positions as a leading producer with netkar pro, rfactor, and upcoming iracing which is very realistic.

Agreed, but we are lucky at MSR we have racing sims which we think if you like no music while racing, like realistic tyre wear, physics based on real world (i.e the calculations is derived from mathematical model that represents real life), knowledge of car dynamics, etc. Then welcome onboard, you will be surprised that racing sims can be just as enjoyable as racing games if not more.

that is true but sadly i enjoy more arcade racer than sim racer no wonder less publicity lulz

forza is toward the physics of the game, its more toward real-life..ya i admit the graphic on forza is lower then GT5 but at least it looks good.. btw juiced2 syok ? wtf the game is cock and bull wei
-Aston Martin DB9 Special Edition -Chevrolet (alot of muscles) -Viper ! Yahoo! -350Z ! Yahoo! -BMWs -RX7 ! Yahoo! -Skyline GTR ! Yahoo! -Impreze WRX ! Yahoo!
slow mo the video and you'll able to spot quite a number of the featured cars, though some are rather hard to identified... hmm...The chief designer said "We only interest in RACING cars, or blah blah blah...", so no Proton or Produa here, lol! And no local track either, since he only mentioned Japan, Europe and US...
I saw: -Pagani Zonda GTR -Konigseggieg CCX(dunno how to spell the company name) -BMW 3 Series -Camoro Concept -New Challenger -Salen's Mustang -F1 -FO2's junk cars

Well, most racing I played made by Codemasters seems to adapt slightly arcade control, so that some 'regular' players can handle the game. Well, you see any people that really donno hiow to play racing games? Real funny when you ask them to play... So, slghlt arcade style helps some people to enjoy the game =)
But I hope they can make the game to switch between arcade and sim controls?
Not that hard actually, slowly can adopt it with a lot of practise & understanding the sim physic.
QUOTE(smokey @ Apr 23 2008, 08:24 PM)
i hope Grid has better controls like GTR2...Dirt n ProDriver series have very fake/arcade controls...
I wish that too.

I think they will make an option between arcade & semi-sim base on their previous title TRD3, to boost their sales maybe. At least my 10yrs kid can enjoy the semi-sim mode, he didnt like the arcade style.
While waiting the GRID, try this, 22 racers on the GRID, not the **** AI.
this game is a dissapointment... graphics is no where as nice as the video...all the race track has "sunset" setting... gameplay is very arcadish... failure!!

and you judging this from the demo game??lets wait for full version 1st...
ya played the demo... its almost same with Dirt...
Dirt really hard to play with keyboard..played dirt with joystick b4 and the control is better and good. i wonder how this game react when played with keyboard...
its very very easy to play with keyboard... but cant drift with keyboard...
how does the car react during the race?? is it really too arcadish?? i dont like the car seems stiff while taking corner. its just like a failure if this game just like that....

the car reaction ar...hmm...its like all the 4 wheels sticking on the tar road...ur keyboard press right, it will turn right straight away even in high speed...u press brake, it will brake very fast...
so all the corners can be taken easily... its really very arcadish...

oic...so its really a disappointment if its like that la... i hate when its totally arcade. semi-arcade is acceptable but total arcade, its a waste of time...
yeh agreed with most of you that this game is too acardish burnout paradise is much better at the control graphic is very good to look at if compare to other racing games just that the car dynamic saks.. disappointed is all i can say bout this game
Don't forget to turn off driver assist to fully enjoy the game. Drifting is fun and much better than any other game.
agreed....just tried the demo.the drifting is quite challenging and take quite some time to master it.... about the driver assist, will try it out later... the graphics is quite pleasent IMHO. just the physics suck..

Managed to coax the game into working. Quite good but there are some gripes that I feel that I WON'T buy the full version - Colours are too washed out and orange. I prefer a real life colour. It's hard to see braking point and corners - AI drives like rally drivers instead of touring car drivers. Real drivers can cover their position without even going out of their racing line in real life, in here it's chaos - controls are f***ed up for digital. I mean c'mon, even GTR2/rFactor manage to make a good digital control even tho the race engine was built specifically (and I DO MEAN specifically) for the Logitech G25 Steering Wheel. - weird menus. I want a point and click system. Thus sorry codemaster. You f***ed up for me
after disabling the car assist, i can drift my car better than b4. this game quite acceptable after disabling the car assist...
quite nice game...can't wait to try th full version....
the handling so much problem..like this i prefer rFactor

Those who pointed out that the demo was not realistic enough, it actually meant that way.
QUOTE
IGN AU: Have you built the handling mechanics for this game from the ground up, or were they adapted from a previous title? If so, what kinds of changes did you make? Where do you want Grid's handling to sit on the simulation / arcade scale, and why? Ralph Fulton: Our car mechanics editor is an evolution of the one used on DiRT, but the improvements we've made to the physics engine for GRID means that it has changed a lot in the last year. There was no question of adapting handling from DiRT partly because the system has changed so much, but mainly because the cars in GRID are so different from those in DiRT.
Right from the start of the project we wanted to create car handling which was midway between simulation and arcade because we want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy GRID immediately. We put the player behind the wheel of some seriously powerful race cars in this game and we didn't want the difficulty curve putting the less hardcore crowd off. For those who want a much more realistic handling model, there are a number of driving assists which can be switched off in order to make the car handle like it does in real life.
IGN AU: How difficult was it to get the feel of drift racing just right? We've seen other series' - like Need for Speed really struggle, with handling that changes radically from year to year.
Ralph Fulton: It was probably the most difficult part of the design process on GRID. We were absolutely determined that drift cars would use the same physics as the other cars in the game, not some obviously different model which only kicks in to make drift cars slide. And making drift cars which drift properly, but are still controllable using a pad turned out to be really hard. However, we persevered with it and I think the system we've got now balances realism with accessibility perfectly. For the first half lap you're really not sure what's happening with your car, because it's so light and because there's so much lock on the steering and power to the rear wheels, but suddenly something clicks (and this is something we see with pretty much everyone who tries it) and you understand how this thing works. After a couple of laps you're throwing your car into these long graceful drifts and having the time of your life!
you must have got 2 used 2 NFS mechanics wey dont ever think of multiplier score in chain drift because it wont have one in GRID all you need 2 do is drift big in one corner so practice more

What do you mean by that? There is multiplier for chain drift.
What do you mean by that? There is multiplier for chain drift.
Yup, what he said.
Or maybe he meant about the parts of the tracks that multiplies your score the closer u are to the wall. In GRID, it's only at the apex. But chain drift is still the key.
With pass experience only in NFS:U, and as a non-racer gamer who played the demo, I can say GRID is impressive, this game will have quite a following I predict.
What do you mean by that? There is multiplier for chain drift.
yes there is but what is missing is that no continuous score counting in GRID when you chain drift which means each chain of drift the score reset 2 zero

Ummmmmm.... actually there is a continuous chain drift plus the combo multiplier.
i think i saw someone did a 80million drift score on youtube, that was just so impressive... i wonder what is his setting for the car, and he can drift all the way connecting all the corners without breaking them.
the regular lap racing is ok, but i had big time struggling in drifting, keep on crashing... the best i can do is 1million i turn off breaking assist and stability control but turn on the traction control. man this is real hard. but i love it game works great with 8800gt.

I must say.....that was 1 of the heck most impressive racing games ever i played.... i mean in term graphic, textures rendering details on every single game itself..... well done to codemaster.....impressive.... but i do find a bit awkward bout physics.....in driftting its too unreal, while racing mode & AI really
NFS Prostreet really looks pretty bad now....due this game will debut very soon i guess....
so far my personal best score for drift is 4.5m points...... it was fun yet tricky to tackle apex every single corner.... multiply chain drift will made it possible to push forward..... ooh yea....u need to turn off everything in Assist mode.....including traction control....

those flags r actually cliping point, r applied in real life drift competition (regulation) these day..... obviously it will get more point if juz get close as possible with clean drifting on da corner..... but in these game wasn't sure whether does applied anot..... to get bonus points, all u need to do is....keep drifting all da way b4 entering corner....while exit corner try to hold it with out hit anything.....
yup he's right..you have to drift b4 the flag and hold it right in front of it..the flag is not supposed to be your starting drift point..nearer will get you higher points even perfect 20k score...combo this on every corner plus higher multiplier..
after like a hundred timws..i only managed just over 700k using keyboard..

Ok, my views Pros - Damage are more realistic - Cars from many manufacturers AND tuners. You don't usually see tuner cars in game other than the overhyped Gran Turismo - Great variations in track
Cons - TOO.MUCH.EYECANDY. My PC barely gets past 50FPS, even with many of them on medium. - Bloom is set on high. WHAT YOU THINK OUR EYES ARE? I can't even fricking see the braking point - Tracks are not 100% correct. I raced on simulators where they made the tracks using GPS accurated data, and many of the tracks in GRID are different. For example at the Nurburgring, the first corner hairpin has a really BIG elevation change that cars can virtually jump the hairpin. There are none in the game. Same can be said for the Eau Rouge corner at Spa - Can't see shit in cockpit mode. They should learn from ISI, where their game engine lets you adjust your seat. A famous feature that made into GTR, GTR2, rFactor, and RACE. - Can't adjust car setup. I have my own preferences on how my car should be set up, and I feel that the F3 was understeering, with too much emphasis on straight line speed (a big no no at Spa, where you focus more on corner speed). - Stupid AI. Yes, they are stupid. Period. No way real race drivers still keep to the dirty lines 3 laps into the race. They will always protect the racing line with minimal movements, thus minimising time lost while still keeping the place. No wonder there are so many incidents - variable controls according to view. My most hated thing about this game. Change the view, and you find that the control rate are changed too. You will find that the outside view will give you more response than the cockpit view. Why do they did this I do not know, but me and Chapree was surprised about this

Unlocked 2nd phases already. But seriosely I skipped LeMans. 24 minutes race, and heck when dark I can't see the track. Susah bebeno. Hoho. Drift, I heat drift. Harder than NFS series.
And seriously gaise, use gamepad with accelerator or better use racing wheel. I myself use Logitech ChillStream, got pedal- and break-like button. So press little for little, press more for more.

the highest FPS i can get is 48++ which means it still laggy for me. And that's with mostly low settings And I HATE THE f***ING BLOOM EFFECT! I have a hard time judging the track for braking point

Okay, I just got the copy. I'm using a 7600 GT and been playing it in 800 x 600 with a 2XMSAA (or whatever it is) and getting around 40 fps.
Now, like others, I felt like it's kinda hard to control the car. I already disable both braking assist and stability control as Shah_15 recommend but it still hard for me. Should I make some "tuning" in the following menu? Yes, I'm using a keyboard.
Thanks.
EDIT : Nah, never mind that. I getting used to it already using the default setting XD Thanks again, Shah_15. XD

Yeah even Mass Effect is RM119...it would be cool if all big games were priced at this range...but i wouldn't count on it. SOmetimes i just dont understand this pricing thing...how they decide...GRID maybe since there are Malaysians who worked on this game and maybe they wanted to sell it lower priced...but Mass Effect, EA?

I dunno what I've done but it seems that I can't view the replay anymore. There should be replay after every race but I didn't even see those "View Replay" button. Been looking in the Option menu thou but fruitless... Any idea how I can "enable" it back?
I have both DiRT and GRID (demo) install. Got weird prob. If play DiRT, need to set full sound hardware acceleration in dxdiag. If play GRID, need to set no sound hardware acceleration in dxdiag.
If not either one can not launch.
Is it because I run both in XP SP3. I think Vista users have no prob. Or because of demo. Maybe X-Fi soundcard
If set no sound hardware acceleration, will reduce sound quality or not?
Thanks a lot.

I'm using Realtek also but no problem with the game.
Try installing Vista SP1 and the latest Realtek driver.
Anyway, nice drifting man.
Then I really need to get Vista with SP1. Every game developers really doing games for Vista. It's like all are planned, so that, everyone go for Vista
Any reduce performance or quality if set no hardware acceleration sound?
I saw a thread in the Codemaster>Grid forums mentioning that there's a slight problem with the new creative drivers for X-Fi models..you can go check it out
i drift on tauge using handbrake ma need teh traction control to be on, especially for the hairpins. 500bhp makes even a skyline a pussycat on wet floor.

Already check it out, before post in this topic. Hope to have some advice from 'sifu' around here. Anyway, I think this game will have less problem with Vista SP1. I bet everyone that does not have problems use Vista.

That's weird..I'm on AMD X2 3800+ (2.0ghz)..2gig ram and x1950pro can play rather smoothly..
ANyone tat use keyboard to play this?? I can't drift with RX-7.. always understeer, and do donut.. hahaha But with Silvia is oK... jz make sure tat the angel not too high.. Drifting around tat Shibuya town, is kinda no space, hit wall only.
Wonder u guys finish all the races?? i'm still about 40% only.. problem i got, no enough money.. I now only got 3 million... LMP1/2 can't buy
i had abt 7.6 mil.. took a gamble bought a LMP2 class C65.. well.. didnt do so well..got last.. but my teammate got 2nd.. 2 guys DNF.. so i guess i got 4th..
well... the investment paid off coz i got 3.5mil total from that 1 LeMans 24 Hr should be able to get LMP1 Audi R10 in 3 seasons

this game a bit SIM racing la. for me. esp Drift LOL. others like racing, Lemans too arcade drift: try drift close to da flags, hit e -brake early, half throttle...so ur car move sideway facing the flags

well you should use "Application Control" instead forcing AA in Catalyst Control Center (CCC), in in-game setting just set to any AA you want, 2x, 4x, or even 8x
IMO, forcing AA in CCC will conflict to game settings -- as my XP with other games like Vegas 2 and Battlefield 2 as well as COD4
lol pirated copies might have difficulty in doing that....
no more after may. google will give you the answer.

I find this game suit my style of racing... For tight corner, by any chance, use the OUT-IN-OUT or IN-OUT-IN method if possible.. u will find it easier to turn.. I also keyboard user ( no $$$ buy wheel ), practise more for the car, some how u will get running between GRIP n DRIFT... Tat's the fastest thing u can do to tackle the hairpin or 90 degree corner.. If u not confident for certain corner, brake early than sorry later..
Le Mans, i find it quite easy, jz don take risk do stupid mistake.. this not like NFS Prostreet, where, suddenly jump and die.. This GRID track is FLAT OUT..

turn off stability control and try LeMans again. I won up to LMP2. LMP1 has too much understeer tho ;_; and go join the GRID Clan at the Competition and Leagues subforum. And teh farker Raven West M3 hax. I can't win them in serious mode. Gile babi laju. I can only beat them at the Nurburgring where I am faster at the last chicane (I use the F1 straightlining method instead of AI slow method)

each car different one le. how to change car? i am in the drid world thingy. wat's flashback? lol...
i usually brake, the turn corners drop a gear or two. but it seem the computers are very fast. too noob.
no need to say LMP1/2 farking understeer. but....the best car for LMP1 is the Saleen S7 and best car for LMP2 is....the 911 GT3 RS. only the 911 does not have understeer
Added on June 12, 2008, 10:25 amlol now i know why cannot drift. TCM is on the whole time! XD

Maybe I can't join, for some reason... The game is a lot better than Prostreet, though lacking some car that I like. The drift really &*%* hard, anyone with high scores? The Grip race is really exciting, the almost every car i use can spin some cool drift during hard corners...
for the freestyle drift, although there is so much road but i just drift in one square, repeat and repeat then can really get very nice drift score lol

yeah, that what I do to. find a block where I can drift aroudn it and just go round and round XD
So hard to play using keyboard ! Anyone here using keyboard to play ? How many percent you guys set for the Steering Saturation and what the Steering Linearity ?
After I use it, yeah, it really boost the performance (I'm getting around 80fps with the same setting), but now I can't use the pause menu anymore. The game doesn't hung (coz the camera still moving) but I can't do nothing there.

lol, forgot to tell you, the easiest way is actually going to My Documents\Codemaster\Grid\Iforgotthexmlfilename.xml Open it and look for the line Porstprocessing on = True and Blur = true. Change those to false

GRID Patch change list
All Platforms
Network bug fixes • When viewing in spectator mode – wheels should now turn correctly. • Session searching now functions correctly when there are lots of full sessions (PC and PS3). • Track and route options no longer change when host gets back to lobby in private/LAN. • Race results are now correct if a host migration occurs at the end of the race. • Other player’s progress/positions are now correctly updated when you enter the race results screen. • Several NaN (brown screen) related fixes. • Fixed a problem whereby it was only possible to upload one world record ghost to each track (PC and PS3)
Network - general • Race to race lobby timer is now 15 seconds • A timer has been added showing how long the session has been up and running is shown on the tickertape after joining a session. • Changes to what is displayed in lobby when a player has kick votes. o The player who has been voted for can see this fact and the number of votes they have received. o Players who have voted to kick someone can see who they voted for but cannot see the number of votes. o Players who have not voted do not see anything. • Added ability to get the next page of sessions in private session results (PC and PS3) • Banned sessions no longer appear in private session list. • Reverse gear is now disabled for the first two seconds of a network race to stop players reversing off the start line. • Added ability to change collision types in all sessions (not enabled in Demolition Derby). o Forward Only (this is the normal behaviour for Ranked/Unranked) o On (Collisions are always on) o Off (Always off). • Numerous anti griefing checks to turn off collisions when players are griefing. • Fix for distance shown in distance online stat. • A warning message is now shown the first time you enter system link. • In non-drift races, the race results screen shows the fastest lap that each player achieved in that race. • When a player retires or terminally damages in race, a message telling all players of this fact is sent to the chat system so displayed in the overlay in game. • Cars become semi-transparent when collisions are turned off due to griefing. • Improvements to prediction system to reduce effects of lag when players are close by • Fix for occasional excessive smoke coming from other players in network mode • Fix for exploit where a player could upload an incorrect lap time • PS3 & PC – fix for a problem where private sessions would not show up in search unless you searched for public sessions first
Game - general • Xbox 360 achievement fix. • Several optimisations and performance improvements. • It is now possible to look left and right while in bonnet camera. • Fix for a hang when selecting a gear outside the gears available on the vehicle (this was possible with H-Shifter) • Fix for cars very occasionally flying into the air when hitting kerbs. • Fixes for custom action maps • Track rendering optimisations. • Brown screen problem no longer awards achievements or causes glowing white cars. • Fix for airborne achievement – now awarded even if car flips upside down during jump • Fixed frame rate stalls and stuttering on Xbox 360.
PC Specific Changes General • Added support for Xinput wheel and Logitech Rumblepad 2, including default action map configurations. • Adding ability to use H-pattern shifter in custom configuration by allowing configuration of gears 1 to 6 and reverse. Same for boost. • Fix for missing Force feedback on Vista. • Added the ability to override the controller type, so that if the game fails to auto-detect it, users can specify it themselves. o Symptoms of the game failing to detect the appropriate controller type are: On a pad, handling is too twitchy, appears to steer “lock-to-lock”. On a wheel, the input lags and the linearity slider doesn’t appear to have an effect. o To override controller type, find the hardware_settings_config.xml that is generated when the game is run (should be in My DocumentsCodemastersGRIDhardwaresettings) and change the line that reads <input device_type="auto" /> to either <input device_type="pad” /> or <input device_type="wheel" /> as appropriate for your controller. • Changing microcode optimisation level for NVIDIA 7xxx series graphics cards to reduce a pause when using each shader for the first time. • Adding support for triple head displays. • Graphical corruption fix when using multiple GPU’s. • Network chat text made less obtrusive. • Numerous on-going compatibility fixes. • Improvements to shadows for certain resolutions/aspect ratios. • Profiles are now flushed to disk when they are written to reduce the chance of them being corrupted if the PC dies.
Valve will release the patch ASAP for steam version. Seems there was a miscommunication between them and Codemaster

First impression, the gfx looks good, solid gfx, and izzit juz me or it ran much smoother than NFS:Carbon or even NFS:ProStreet?... even at low 30fps at times still runs smoothly on the tracks unlike ProStreet/Carbon
The soundeffects sound pretty good esp. with his surroundsound positions, and the music pretty cool.. heh
For handling, as usual need to get to used it, not bad at least not like some racing games that feels like the cars like "floating".. lol
Finally, all and all, solid game with alot different types of racing even the rarely type which its the "Le Mans" 24hrs racing, pretty cool with its from day to night experience
Cheers

Any System requirements? Is it require highend graphic card?Like 8800GT or HD3870 or simillar?
i think HD2600XT or 8600GT should be fine already. btw, does anyone know where can i download the soundtrack? This game has the most awesome soundtrack for a racing game
The drift is much better than NFS le.. NFS drift is too noob..
I manage to finish until the Global League Final Race with Ravenwest using CCXR on Le Mans track.. Is extreme difficulty... WTH~~ Can't even win. i'm using keyboard le.. And the Car sucks a lot compare to mine CCXR... tat is stock car.. How to win??
update your grid to 1.1 if you having problem or dificulties in controlling your vehicle via controller...for me everything seem perfect running on xbox 360 controler for pc...drift also kindda easy..
Just installed patch v1.1. Before this can not even play in Game Mode (SB X-Fi) Still can not set full hardware acceleration for sound. Can enable it in GRID option, though
Everything is good. Sound great. Gameplay is hard, but very2 enjoyable.
QUOTE
For those who are looking for the original postprocess file.
the last race is very hard, the only way to wint that race is to overtake Ravenwest quickly and block him at the stright road
i did tat also... but my leading not consistent... i got over take when turning at the corner at slow speed.. tat suck.. flashback only got 1.. i still haven beat tat yet..

There is live telecast of LeMans 24h at Eurosport now. See it and notice the difference between the real life LeMans driving and GRID one. GRID have too much grip and speed
Any of you guys having problems when using the postprocess_off.zip above AFTER you total your vehicle? The game just stops there for me. Cannot press ESC or any key except ChangeView/Look left+Right+Back. I reverted back to original postprocess files and everything is ok.

Interesting fact. The real life Audi R10 TDi can only reach top speed of 350KM/h during practice and 339KM/h in race condition at LeMans, slowr than the 419KM/h in the game. The top speed it can manage is just 370KM/h and instead of 6 gears as in the game, it has 5-speed sequential manual transmission. This game is bullshitting me.
Not compatible with all integrated sound/graphics solutions (inc.Laptops)
If your Inspiron came with built-in gfx, I guess you're out of luck. Btw latest nvidia drivers are at 175.16 for GeForce8 series (if you've opted for the optional GF8400 card).

My full review of the game. First of all I would like to say this is just my views, and may differs from yours. Just bear with me on this one okay?
Graphics - Quite good. The cars looks gorgeous. The transition between night and day at LeMans rivals the one that is used in gMotor2 (GTR2 and rFactor, which also offers changing time). The only thing that gets on my nerve is the amount of post processing effects, especially the bloom which IMO is a tad too much. Indeed, visiting the codemaster forum or any other gaming forum you will see ppl complaining about it. While it does makes the game look different, this is a racing game, and you need to SEE the road. The bloom makes it harder to differentiate the road and the gravel. Another thing that I hate is the fixed camera at the back, which is too low. As I have played others that let you not only adjust the external camera, but also the SEAT inside the cockpit, it took me a while to adjust to the views
Gameplay - Mainly the achilles heel of this series. For me who usually play simulations, the lack of setup option really hurts me. I mean I have a preferences on how I like to have my car setup, and it really hurts to drive a car that is totally different from what I like. Even prostreet has a tuning option. The career mode is quite good and done brilliantly, altho I would have love for my pit board to tell me what lap times I am doing instead of telling me I am leading. OF COURSE I KNOW I AM LEADING! The sponsorship was a joke. How can I get sponsors from 5 different tyre manufacturers AT THE SAME TIME?? Heck, my Audi TDi is sponsored by Bridgestone, but uses Michelin. They should have checked this before releasing teh game. The jumbled up grid are not welcomed. There are some reasons that in real life they have qualifying. But the most glaring ones are these two that I encountered in the game. one, the dangerous street circuit that Codemaster seems to love to include but in real life will be banned immediately by the FIA for lack of safety run off areas. Take note that in the last 6 years, 5 of the Monaco Grand Prix winners started from pole. To start last in an F3 on a street circuit is the worst thing a racer wants. The other reason is the really really shitty AI. Codemaster meant to do somethign good with making the AI making mistakes, but when you are on a street circuit, and the AI makes a mistake just in front of you, you have nowhere to go. The cars itself are horribly done. The speed are unrealistic, the grip are too much and the brakes locks too easily. Imagine this, during the recent LeMans, the Audi TDi can only manage speed up to 320KM/h on the Mulsanne straight, with the top speed of 339KM/h during practice was teh fastest it can ever get. In the game, you can go up to 419KM/h! Heck, my F3 car went over 300KM/h at a f***ing street circuit! Nobody in the right mind setup their car to have top speed when you need to have all the downforce you need at a street circuit. So much for realism. Heck, the traction control only seems to work on certain speeds. Wheelspinning still happens even if you turn in on. The tracks are also crap. Where else can you find a place where boxes are as heavy as rocks? Tyre barriers are erected NOT TO DAMAGE CAR but to save drivers. Honestly if this was real life countless ppl would have died. The damage are also not consistent. if it hit static objects, it would either be no damage or exaggerated damage, even if the hit are at really high speeds. A car wing will detach no matter how slow you are going as it's not really fixed directly. But in the game, you can bang on the wall or other cars all you want but still keep your wing intact. Real life circuit are done quite nicely, but I hate the one that Codemaster made themselves. They seem to have a penchant to create street circuits that breaks all FIA rules. It's dangerous, mightily narrow, and unrealistic. Also REAL LIFE TRACK DOES NOT DO RACE IN REVERSE DIRECTION! The track are made to flow one way only. Only Misano had ever changed teh track direction in real life, and that was because they revamped the whole track.
Multiplayer - The connection to server are crap. I kept disconnection all the time. Nuff said.
lol linkin, that's like a rantview than a review But it was informative nonetheless. We all knew that this game isn't going to be realistic but I agree that the arcade/realism is sometimes inconsistent. I couldn't even start a race without Traction Control as the wheels kept spinning and losing control.
As linkin pointed out, having multiple tire sponsors is just plain weird or lazy. I didn't like the chase camera view either, way too low making it almost impossible (for a noob like me) to see the track in LeMans. I also agree the bloom effects are a little overdone.
Lol..linkin..not to forget..cars with wings downforce setup such as the F3000,open cart etc..when the front or rear wing gets detached...you still can take corners at unbelievable speeds XD
The minimum specs in the readme that came with the game: If your Inspiron came with built-in gfx, I guess you're out of luck. Btw latest nvidia drivers are at 175.16 for GeForce8 series (if you've opted for the optional GF8400 card).
What do you mean build in gfx?
Im using a laptop with a 8600GT now. Will GRiD run?
I bought this game, so I have my right to complain as a user.
adess linkin ...too long. you sounded very regret to buy this game for me,top speed doesnt matter. the only matters optimum speed @ corners, how you control it.how you do corrections at corners. why wanna complain. GRID combined arcade with little bit sim.(for me), i think this game just for fun. this game is not for old geezer like u oni.its for everyone. wanna play sim? play GTR2, rFactor, LFS

i know la, like I said, it's my view. You dun have to agree. @madman. the open wheel cars have handbrake liao. I lol'ed when I tested it. And sometimes I detach the wing on purpose. Less oversteer lol
GRID is fun for me.. but i hate AI and Multiplayer mode.. Ya, the game a bit not logic.. Le Mans is the worse of all.. But, whatever, is jz a piece of program human develop to lighten up their life. Personaly i gave this game score 3 out of 5. As i'm not really a circuit track gamer.. I'm a Rally Track gamer, Colin Mcrae Dirt is still best for me. I won't be able to race behind AI car. Hahaha.. i race alone beating time only. The game won't last long, mayb 1 more month i will throw it already..

Well, GRID is fun, but it ain't serious enough to fulfill the fapping factor requirements of serious racing gamers.
actually the game is not suppose 2 be serious 2 fulfill the requirements of serious racing gamers...even the big ass titles like FM2, GT4, PGR4, enthusia will never match lfs and rfactor anyday

I read in the newspaper that a Malaysian Company had made a coop with Codemaster and develop a Malaysian Version of GRID. Anyone had a copy yet?
AFAIK, no such thing around. It's true that a Malaysia company had a coop with Codemasters, but as a minor shareholder in Codemasters Malaysia. To be honest, the GRID itself can be counted as partly Malaysian made as the game art is developed in KL.
I bought this game, so I have my right to complain as a user.
Err, may i ask is this game available now at KL? If available, can anyone tell me
1. where to get the original PC game ? (Lowyat which floor which shop? or other place like 1U ) and 2. how much it cost? (I'm not KL ppl, just that tomorrow will go down KL to watch Japan GT, ) 3. I'm using Inspiron laptop 8600GT and C2D T5250 with 2Gb , can run?

Thanks very much ya.
I think All-IT got the games. It's on the 3rd floor, if I remember correctly. And I think the price tag is going to be around RM 119. And looking at your laptop specs, I dun think you got problem running it in medium setting, or even high on some settings.

I don't get your question. Hiring a team mate which is already on your team?

as in another driver racing in your team. the tutorial lady aka your team boss got say at the beginning that you can hire a team mate 2 your team but i did not see any buttons 4 hiring a team mate also unless this game meant 4 us players 2 race solo in the team lo. i want 2 earn that bloody team bonus in every race but i cant do that if my solo team only has one driver which is me.

Is this option available in your menu? "Grid World > My Team > Team mate"
However I remember at the beginning of few stages you won't be able to select any team mates.
For those who still bother having a config for turning off blur and postprocessing, here's something I found which has been tested working AND bug-free :
QUOTE
1. Edit the file "\My Documents\Codemasters\GRID\hardwaresettings\hardware_settings_config.xml" 2. Change these settings:
Why would u guyz wanna turn off the blur? o.0 i like the blur feature.. wootz! the autosave function just shitty..it lags my pc down for a few secs..and gameplay resumes as normal..=___=' but hell..
done with toyota soarer, quite easy to drift thanks to its long wheelbase and low torque. broke a chain of 67 and then next chain of 75 multiplier. could have done better, but it wasn't on my PC chapree went wtf ahahahahhahahaa

waah
that one with 4 laps? 70X combo at least for 4 laps with less awesome drift/ superior drift
if more multiplier means ,at least u get more drift point chain. 4 laps really enuf?
ok wanna try. toyota soarer
n 4 laps around 6-7 minutes, i cant see ur longest time drift

Using keyboard is seem like impossible to drift as when press the accelerate key while drift the car will go out of control & crash. If press & let go & press the car wont drift to long. Anyone here got tips using keyboard & the best advance setting for steering for drifting course?
ryugan : I am using keyboard for the moment. I have logitech MOMO but it is kinda hard to control with that. LOL...how to drift with keyboard then?
erm, erm in that case try use toyota soarer, bcoz my bro 'sniper69' using that car. which is stable, easy to control than other car.
always use the hand brakes, but dont late braking like actual race, u need to accelerate when cornering in/drifting in, press ur accelerate key by tapping it,if the car become slower try hold da key, n control it by using hand brakes.. try to drift ur car facing the flags( tiang)
for me using wheel easier than keyboard. bcoz you can control the throttle, BTW i'm using wheel. without any assist n manual transmission,

my record drift was using keyboard at a cyber cafe. turn on your traction control. turn off your stability control.
ruygan, 4 laps its possible to get normal drifts. most of my normal drifts happened when i was setting up the car for the next corner.
huyo 200mil in 4 laps ... i only got 42mil 4 laps using silvia (60+ combo) .. will try rx7 later... ryugan what is ur perfect score near the flag .. i only got 60k ...
