QUOTE(M1X @ Feb 16 2008, 12:23 PM)
Originally this game was called Race Driver ONE. I already notice this even BEFORE the release of DiRT. Now they come out with a new name GRiD... Hmm, I still prefer ONE than GRiD ! lol

Though nvm, I alwasy thrust Codemasters of their racing games, so I am not worry about it. smile.gif
*

I thought it was GR1D?
anyways, it will be part sim part arcaedish ala Gran Turismo IMO. A pure sim (like rFactor and Live for Speed) is harder to control with a gamepad and that would turn off many fans

FARK IT WON'T RUN IF STEAM IS RUNNING
Double fark! This time I blame CodeMaster
EDIT: SECUROM IS A b****!!!!!!

If steam is running
QUOTE
SecuROM™ has determined that a piece of software is hooking SecuROM™.

Please close all programs which are running in the background.
If the problem still persists, the problem is usually caused by a Virus or Spyware (you might want to check for 'Backdoor.B' under http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcen...r.agent.b.html).
Search for Interceptor.dll or InterceptHelper.dll on your PC; if you find them, your PC is infected.
Please defragment your hard disc and do an in-depth Virus and Spyware check to clean your PC.
If the application still won't start, please send a SecuROM™ analysis file to support@securom.com (see Support Info section on how to prepare and send an analysis file).

After that I try to run it again

Managed to coax the game into working. Quite good but there are some gripes that I feel that I WON'T buy the full version
- Colours are too washed out and orange. I prefer a real life colour. It's hard to see braking point and corners
- AI drives like rally drivers instead of touring car drivers. Real drivers can cover their position without even going out of their racing line in real life, in here it's chaos
- controls are f***ed up for digital. I mean c'mon, even GTR2/rFactor manage to make a good digital control even tho the race engine was built specifically (and I DO MEAN specifically) for the Logitech G25 Steering Wheel.
- weird menus. I want a point and click system.
Thus sorry codemaster. You f***ed up for me

Found out the error. This error only happens if you change the default installation directory for the game in Vista. Crap

dude, my my vista ultimate key was given by Microsoft themselves because I was a Beta tester. And google around, it won't let you register an account if you install it on Vista in a partition other than the default one.

so you gotta be of legal age to be there (18 for girls, 21 for guys).
Does this mean it's not legal to have consensual sex with a 20y/o male? biggrin.gif

I’m also told that the game will be available at a special discounted price so this is a good opportunity for players who want to get the game cheaper than retail price.

Ok, my views
Pros
- Damage are more realistic
- Cars from many manufacturers AND tuners. You don't usually see tuner cars in game other than the overhyped Gran Turismo
- Great variations in track

Cons
- TOO.MUCH.EYECANDY. My PC barely gets past 50FPS, even with many of them on medium.
- Bloom is set on high. WHAT YOU THINK OUR EYES ARE? I can't even fricking see the braking point
- Tracks are not 100% correct. I raced on simulators where they made the tracks using GPS accurated data, and many of the tracks in GRID are different. For example at the Nurburgring, the first corner hairpin has a really BIG elevation change that cars can virtually jump the hairpin. There are none in the game. Same can be said for the Eau Rouge corner at Spa
- Can't see shit in cockpit mode. They should learn from ISI, where their game engine lets you adjust your seat. A famous feature that made into GTR, GTR2, rFactor, and RACE.
- Can't adjust car setup. I have my own preferences on how my car should be set up, and I feel that the F3 was understeering, with too much emphasis on straight line speed (a big no no at Spa, where you focus more on corner speed).
- Stupid AI. Yes, they are stupid. Period. No way real race drivers still keep to the dirty lines 3 laps into the race. They will always protect the racing line with minimal movements, thus minimising time lost while still keeping the place. No wonder there are so many incidents
- variable controls according to view. My most hated thing about this game. Change the view, and you find that the control rate are changed too. You will find that the outside view will give you more response than the cockpit view. Why do they did this I do not know, but me and Chapree was surprised about this

eh? I win LeMans with my own Spyker in the 3rd season. The spyker was an eBay cheapo, and lack top speed. But still win without assist. altho i assume the AI has grip hax as they can catch up with me easily during the mickey mouse part of the back end of the track

I'm using Logitech's Chillstream (designed like the X360 controller)

But my left analog..like too sensitive la..oversteer too much..any idea how to "tune" it?
*

try adjusting ingame? altho I would prefer a full fledged wheel. I can win on keyboard, but most of the european cars feels too understeery,

Adjusting which settings in-game?There's no sensitivity settings..whenever I drive the Le Mans' car race..the car oversteers so much >_>

EDIT: No cash for steering set and not enough space around my table =s

advanced in the race itself, not during the menu
anyways, HOW THE HELL DO I GET ALL THESE TYRE SPONSORS WITHOUT CONFLICTING INTEREST???

the highest FPS i can get is 48++ which means it still laggy for me. And that's with mostly low settings
And I HATE THE f***ING BLOOM EFFECT! I have a hard time judging the track for braking point
