hmmm ijust install a 3870 in my system dont know why my power dvd sudenly cant play any hddvd file...x264 no problem but hddvd got sound no video....before in 88gt no problem....haih oh yea bout the pencil mod quite interesting...but i dont have multimeter...damn it..

uninstall and reinstall the new power dvd. there is a special hardware optimizer for ati in power dvd.
maybe our power dvd is old and not compatible with ur 3870.

Just tried NFS PS on my 3850.
FPS Average 50 in 1024x768 rclxm9.gif

Every setting set to high. AA x4 rclxms.gif

just pencil mod my 3870.
i mistakenly thought need to shade it from 5.12kohm to 1kohm.
the system cant boot up after i shade it to 3kohm.
luckily the card run fine after i wash the pencil shade away.
after that i tried to shade again.
3.9kohm, the Gvcore shows 1.7v....shocking.gif
i immediately shut down the system and did some clean up to the pencil mod point.
Gvcore is 1.49v, fan speed 70% temp fulload 63C, idle 59C.
i cant pass 940mhz in COD4 and 3dmark06.
no artifacts showed, but the screen freeze for few seconds then the rivatuner fan speed will change from fixed to auto.
sometimes the stupid ati vpu recovery will pop up.
never experience this in my previous GCs...sweat.gif

Is it usable for games? Stressed it yet? You are still using the HR-03 right? Which mod did you use? New or old?
