number of years of experiences alone is not sufficient to justify the pay
some people are slow and some are fast..
1 year exp of fast, diligent learner can beat the slow ones with 3 years
*
i hope that's true
i've always hoped that's true
but
this is malaysia
people always ask, how many years of exp you got.
i've never seen someone with less exp get more pay than someone with more exp.
never.
well unless one has masters and the other has a diploma.
but on same level wise, never.
i want to see it.
but have never seen it.

Jobstreet and Kelly always quote lower figures (below market average).

this was a good one ,where it came from ? but for IT line it didnt stated the years of exp which actually do contribute their rough salary should be how much per annum , and I think 1 valid for those big corporation which willing to pay more to IT employee , but because rising of outsource company ,figure might not that high anymore sweat.gif

Job Title : Process Eng
Job Desciption : Offshore Design Consultant
Years spent in company : Nil (Fresh)
Company : Somewhere along Jalan Tun Razak
Industry : Oil & gas
Tenure : Permanent
Employment Level : Exec
Experience before joining : Nil (Fresh)
salary : RM 2.4k
Benefits: Nothing much except for relatively more annual leaves

Hey i was wondering whether this is the standard salary for O&G industry for fresh grad. Are there better companies that provide much better pay for fresh grad.

I've got first class from overseas uni in my CV, but so far i don't think there's any difference than other workers who came in without a good degree.

I know Aker Kvaner has reviewed their salary to 2.5k, but still it's not alot.

I'm thinking of changing job right now bcoz many ppl in my department are leaving. Any advice for me as in where I should go?

Does other comp like Technip, RNZ, Ranhill Worley, Shell, Petronas or Schlumberger offer better for fresh grad?
(Btw I've read some horror experience on working with Schlumberger and Petronas, so I might rule it out for now)

Job Title : Production Data Management Engineer
Job Description : Setup and support operator's production systems, callout projects, training etc.
Years spent in company : 3
Company : SLB
Industry : Oil & gas
Tenure : Permanent
Employment Level : Petrotechnical expert
Experience before joining : Nil (Fresh)
Salary : Now a little shy of 9k, started at 3.5k 3 years ago.
Education: E&E Engineering degree from local Uni
Benefits: Bonus capped at max 3.2 months depending on performance, full medical, optical and dental coverage, yearly training etc. etc.

p.s. kmed, why did you say that its a horror working for Schlumberger? Its hard work yes, but honest hard work and the rewards are worth it in terms of money and job satisfaction. If you're based in KL, fresh grads can be looking at a starting pay of a little over 5 grand right now, but you have to be prepared to work for it. Who else will give you such a package? smile.gif

Guess what...i just found out from my base manager that the operation manager changed my salary scheme....without notifying me. I did not even sign on anything.

At least 30% pay cut! Sheesh....this will not go down well. There's hell to pay.

If no shift, then the paid is quite reasonable.
