The data shows here reflect average of engineering pay without giving info on specific engineering job...nowaday different engineering job scope will have diff pay even in semicon industry itself... there will be different compensation pakage for product engineer or design engineer... as far as i know a first line manager in one of the MNC company in PNG will have average of RM12k-15k per month ( basic salary)....

Seems equivalent for senior exec and below, but Malaysia manager level is doing better than in Singapore.
Currency exchange is irrelevant since hardly anyone will earn in Singapore but stay, eat and buy groceries in Malaysia.
I think for those who are planning to work in Singapore can ask for exact similar salary in Singapore dollar +12%. That will be reasonably fair.

Salary totally depends on the company one lar. Of course if the big company will be much higher than local company. The best way is to take big big company like Intel to be the benchmark, and those local company will surely pay lower than them, just depends how low they pay. And another factor is also depends on which industry you refering to.

For UK, a fully qualified actuary commands an annual salary of around £80'000 to £150'000 (RM 515k to RM 950k) + bonus + benefits depending on seniority. European actuaries shouldn't be too far off as well. Can't comment on Australian/American actuaries though.

Job Title : Engineer (Consultant, office-based)
Job Desciption : Typical office work (documents, procedures, calculations etc)
Years spent in company : close to 1 year
Company : Technip Malaysia
Industry : Oil & Gas
Tenure : Permanent
Employment Level : Junior
Experience before joining : 0
salary : RM 2900++
Working hrs: 8 hours per day , 5 days (Flexible sign-in/out times)
Benefits: Usual stuff like medical etc. Can claim specs/glasses up to rm1k/year.

This salary is after the year end adjustment and pro-rated as well since i didn't serve a full year in 2007 (only worked about 3/4 of the year).
OT claims would depend on your luck, if assigned to a project where the clients are freaking rich then OT can be claimed, cheapskate clients otherwise. If you like sitting in office with nice air cond and work with a PC all day long, this can be a dream job as life isn't as hectic since it's an European MNC.

I have a few curious questions to ask here about the salary part. Do you guys put in just the basic salary pay, or plus in the allowance? If plus in the allowance, then how do you fix your allowance? Company fix it? Or you just divide it from your annual income?

Because from what i see, got quite a few fresh grad or experience less than 5 years got their pay more than RM10k. So my guess here is they plus in their allowance and some other benefits?
