For UK, a fully qualified actuary commands an annual salary of around £80'000 to £150'000 (RM 515k to RM 950k) + bonus + benefits depending on seniority. European actuaries shouldn't be too far off as well. Can't comment on Australian/American actuaries though.

I have a few curious questions to ask here about the salary part. Do you guys put in just the basic salary pay, or plus in the allowance? If plus in the allowance, then how do you fix your allowance? Company fix it? Or you just divide it from your annual income?

Because from what i see, got quite a few fresh grad or experience less than 5 years got their pay more than RM10k. So my guess here is they plus in their allowance and some other benefits?

Hmmm, sorry if I'm missing something.. Which jobs are you referring to? Are these local i.e. positions in Malaysia?

All the above jobs. I think the ppl should seperate their basic pay with the allowance. Both are different things and different pay.

Hmmm right.. Can't speak for the others, but what I've posted was Basic gross salary and list of Benefits which value cannot be quantified easily since for example, you do not claim or purchase examination materials every month. It's also better that benefits aren't quantified upfront, you don't get taxed at such a high rate then. cool2.gif

Great career. It is rare to see a Malaysian Actuarial, A good Senior actuarial can have as much as 50K to 100K monthly salary. Keep it up.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, it's a shame there aren't many opportunities open for budding actuaries in Malaysia itself.

Mmm, citizenship? All the job provides is residence in the country via work permits. As far as I know Swiss citizenship requires something like 12 years of naturalisation, and Liechtenstein (where I live now, 2d work in Switzerland & 3d in Liechtenstein) requires 30 years before you can apply for citizenship.

If your parents were born in the Straits settlements (Singapore, Malacca, Penang) before Independence; your parents and yourself could have gotten Right of Abode if invoked before a certain date. You could actually keep your Malaysian passport and still have the full rights of a British citizen including local fees in UK universities etc. I know someone who has this.

I am not too sure about invoking the Right now, but rumour has it that it is still available with the catch that one has to give up his/her Malaysian passport.
