Errm.. as a CERTIFIED ABAPer, you should be able to go through .. now, let me think .. if a certified person complaining that he/she couldn't do the job .. I guess the certification is meaning less .. wonder why some companies prefer to look for a certified consultant..

you are right... not giving any excuses but the gap between being certified and now is exactly one year... within this year, i've forgot everything bout ABAP Programming... hehe... so now tried to brush up everything but have no idea what's going on...

certification is about theory whereby experience is about hands-on and be able to apply into the real job... me? none other than fresh ABAPer... experience gain = 0... where could i gain such an experience is every company hired an experience candidate?

umm... welll..maybe i share my story with u la.
i started fresh as certified abaper too, went into this bw team. i'm the only abaper tat time.. then nobody to teach me abap, so i started joining SDN, ERPgenie, sapfans forum and i brought all the TAW10/TAW12 books to office and read and try-error...and finally i am able to create my own customer exits and function modules. i didn't ask other team or anyone coz i a bit pride problem (they always say "You Certified Abaper WOHHHHHHH") so i rather go the hard way than to ask anyone.

Hahah.. sifu? me? nolah .. not certified somemore .. can't call sifu Anyway, still remember when I was kick into a project with no experience in ABAP whatsoever, the only thing we had there in the project floor was massive ABAP manual (and yes, they're all in German).. Still remember how I brought down the whole development system .. everything was trial and error method .. the only training that I went to was a short course on ABAP/4 by AC (and they knew nutting too!! .. Anyway, as cheezy said, there are lot of forums/web boards in the net that you could join in. That is the only way I can survive till now .. I was quite active in sapfans but not now.. there are many others who could help there .. but ... before you ask question there, please and please do use the search feature first.

OHH... i tot u doing BW liao. Senang. Is functional in the picture or not? normally in this case can taichi to the functionals. U tell the BW guys sorry cannot do coz table tarak timestamp to monitor changes. ask them to tok to functional to make customize table to maintain aedat then update the table when user make changes via the tcode. after tat u can do a join with those tables u mentioned + the new cusztomied table.

i no longer active in those sites too. oni lepak in ittoolbox and SDN. i love SDN coz there's a lot points-hunger SAPians there. 1 minute after i post my Qs, i get berlambak replies liao. apparently some consulting firm will ask ur SDN ID, coz they wanna see how active are u in the community.

great! Nothing is impossible with ABAP.

No la, im not doing bw, im doing abap r3 onli, but sometimes the bw guys ask me to do abap for bw also.. but i know nothing bout BW.
Yeah d problem with this end user company is, they dun want to have a lot of customize objects to be created. They want us to fully use sap standard stuffs only.
Otherwise it takes a lot of time n effor to get the approval..

Just bought two books on CRM IC & Web and it cost me almost RM500 .. guess w/o going for training, books and helps found on the net are really useful for me to survive in SAP world .. nobody are doing legacy ABAP anymore ..

yeah... it's because you are familiar with SAP dy...

Preferably, take IT related course in ur uni then attend SAP courses or apply for SAP position for fresh grad. The logic behind is to familiarize urself with IT terms and concepts. However, it is possible for people with non-It background to venture into the field...
