QUOTE(RaitoTenth @ Jun 3 2010, 12:04 AM) im diggin this thread.. Preferably, take IT related course in ur uni then attend SAP courses or apply for SAP position for fresh grad. The logic behind is to familiarize urself with IT terms and concepts. However, it is possible for people with non-It background to venture into the field...can some one shed me some light.. if i want to further my studies and set SAP as my aim.. i have finished my SPM and would like to know more about SAP which route i should take? i read a few pages of SAP articles.. and did some googling.. seems like this thing is BIG.. there's technical and functional.. the two that interest me are SAP Business Intelligence and SAP ABAP. oh.. if i may.. i'd like to direct this to the legend here.. chezz was it? |

I'm currently holding a permanent post on one of the local company and i'm doing supporting and maintenance. I do think being a consultant is more challenging as you will face many different problem ..compared to when u are working with another company and holding a permanent post. However the good side is, you will be so good in that particular thing shorter time..this what I thought..I do, at one point of my career want to be a consultant...

most company would not hire non SAP experienced for a SAP related post...even if they do, they will provide the training..however, i'm positive that it will never go to waste.. ps :: i'm still new in this business ~ |

QUOTE(starfen @ Aug 4 2010, 11:57 PM) HELP !!! I think you should take the ABAP offer. However will they pay for the course exam?? If they will pay all the expenses, no reason for you to reject it. Even if they don't want you after you pass the exam, you can always apply for a new job with some extra in your resume. Even better, you can apply for ABAP related job.I am a fresh grad, applied for an IT job few days ago in a medical MNC. Today, I went for the interview. Instead they offered to send me (which I assume is sponsor) to take a SAP course - training 5weeks in KL (ABAP) and I am required to pass the exam. The thing is, passing the exam would not guarantee a job in there. He stated that they will call when they need me... Some questions here.. I know that SAP field has a very high entry barrier. A certificate passing the course gives nothing but a slight advantage over fresh grads. What I want to make clear is that : 1. Is the 5week training course actually the ABAP bootcamp thing posted in here earlier? If so, given the bright prospect of this field, I assume there would be tough competition in getting a place in the program sponsored. Why is the company actually offered me SAP when I applied for the other job? It doesnt make sense...Am I lucky enough or something is wrong? *They told me they are actually planning to send quite a few fresh grads to take the course. I just wonder would a company spend nearly 100k just like this, and not even planning to hire all of them after finishing it?? In fact, I have other job offer which is quite satisfactory. However, this program really gives me a better chance to enter this lucrative field. I think this is a very rare opportunity. 5week is not long. The problem is the other job offer is actually the only job that allows me to work in my hometown ( small state, only that company can provide me the job, even the salary is low). Rejecting the offer means I have to work outside in case I passed the exam and not getting hired to do SAP. Dilemma ar.... SAP seniors, please do help me... Added on August 5, 2010, 1:14 amyeah, we all can just advise you what to do but you are the one who's doing it..so think. SAP field is a high paying job but with emergence of oracle erp, I'm a bit worried(although people keep telling me oracle will need atleast 15-20 years to be on par with SAP)....however, if you are good, regardless of the field you're in, your pay will be good. I was told that a company can pay a network engineer up to 30k/month if he/she has a CCIE cert This post has been edited by optyx_spider: Aug 5 2010, 02:05 AM |
