after trying several times..still to no avail. i tried using thumbdrive, keyboard, mouse and it works fine. just the card reader cannot. y aa??could it be a driver issue? do u think installing ubuntu or other linux os might solve this?  rclxub.gif  icon_question.gif

Installing Linux will only give access to the card reader in OtherOS mode not in XMB

They are totally different and you can only run either of them at a time. It will boot into linux if you specify it to do so in XMB system settings. If not, the machine will boot into XMB as usual.

Hey guys
About the HDMI cable for PS3.
The cheapest HDMI cable from Playasia.com is USD4.99 for 1.5m,
Is it ok good enough?.. for do i need to get the more expensive one?
Dont mind slightly more, but no stock now.. so cannot wait.

Can tell the difference between the USD4.99 and the one say deluxe USD6.99...?? some one pls suggest.
*
The $4.99 one is only 1.5 meters while the $6.99 one is 2 meters and is also sleeved.

So far, Sony released a single exact file for all regions even though they are hosted on different servers in every firmware update. So it is safe to update using any update file.

I have to disagree. I read in the US forums, someone updated his EU system using US update, his PS3 just breakdown. sweat.gif

Maybe didn't happen to everyone, but I advise to be on the safe side. Firmware updates can't be undone, and Sony has a warning every time you do it.

Why would you take the risk to update using firmwares from other than your region anyway? hmm.gif

Up to you.. I've been upgrading my JPN console with files from US/UK server since 1.52 because it is too slow to download from JPN server (XMB). Whatever it is, I also checked the URLs first before downloading to be safe tongue.gif

for example fw 2.10:

Hey guys
Getting a new wireless router for my PS3.
Can anyone recommend a good / realiable wireless router for PS3.. or for laptop in general.
Oh..it is better to get wireless modem+router (2 in 1) or a wireless router connect to TMNET (free+china modem). In terms of speed and reliability, does it make a difference?
Thnks in adv

for me no real loss in speed and reliability , reduce wires, save one electrical point, less mess

yea u can save some with the existing modem, just do some settings to ur existing modem to bridge mode, if not u sure will have trouble getting to play online
if u cant set it to bridge mode, then bye bye to online gaming
