Will u be using the PS3 while staying in Vietnam? their ISP is also a DSL service similar to streamyx? most of us here just connect the ps3 to a router (wired/wifi) and using streamyx/jaring/maxis etc.
*
Yup. plan to buy and play in vietnam. becoz no trip soon back to msia. even though cheaper in msia.
Anyway, in vietnam is ASDL. Same with stremyx, i think?
By router you mean modem ? Or do i need to buy both modem and router.
Connect phone line to modem and then to router and then to PS3.. ?

For normal PC intenet, i just connect to modem.

Hey guys
Quick question.
I've move to vietnam.
So i need to subsribe to ASDL here for online gaming with PS3.
Never online gaming before.. will buy PS3 very soon.
Anyway, which speed of ASDL shld i get for smooth online gaming? Which package? Pls recommend
Which speed good enough> of course hv to consider the cost also..
There also 4Mbps ones.. but cost very high.. cnnot afford

1)512Kbps/256Kbps
2)768 Kbps/384
3)1024/512
4)2048/640

i will definitely choose the highest speed i can afford

even vietnam better than msia...
*
That is only on paper.
But can deliver that speed consistency is another story, i heard the reliability and consistnet of
ASDL in viet is bad. Down time very regular.

Anyway, what r u using? 1Mbps or 2Mbps stremyx?

Of course if u can get smooth online gming with 1Mbps, i would get that, not point getting 2Mbps right?

Hey guys
About the HDMI cable for PS3.
The cheapest HDMI cable from Playasia.com is USD4.99 for 1.5m,
Is it ok good enough?.. for do i need to get the more expensive one?
Dont mind slightly more, but no stock now.. so cannot wait.

Can tell the difference between the USD4.99 and the one say deluxe USD6.99...?? some one pls suggest.

Hey guys
Getting a new wireless router for my PS3.
Can anyone recommend a good / realiable wireless router for PS3.. or for laptop in general.
Oh..it is better to get wireless modem+router (2 in 1) or a wireless router connect to TMNET (free+china modem). In terms of speed and reliability, does it make a difference?
Thnks in adv

for me no real loss in speed and reliability , reduce wires, save one electrical point, less mess

yea u can save some with the existing modem, just do some settings to ur existing modem to bridge mode, if not u sure will have trouble getting to play online
if u cant set it to bridge mode, then bye bye to online gaming
*
My modem is the cheap china ones.. i dunno know if can be set to bridge mode.
Do you mean, some modem cannot set to bridge mode?
If so, i better by the combo modem router ones then.. ?

Here's a little tutorial on how to download demo games through your PC, and install them into PS3.

Game links also included.

This method, you need to sacrifice your F@H. But this is the easier than the Store method.

Here's how you do it:

HEY guys.. help
I just got my PS3 yesterday and downloaded like 5 demo games on my PC before.
Now attempt to try this proxy server thingy. A few questions?

1) My PS3 is 2.1 fireware and comes with Folding home installed. Do i need to delete this
and re-download again? Reluctant to do that coz of my VERRY SLOW internet connection..

2) Do i need to do this F@H download everytime i install new demo .pkg?

3) Anyone tried and prove it works ..? Becoz i just finish setting portforwarding and all to get NAT2 and now this i hv to reset my internet setting with proxy.

actually, bro aiman step by step instructions are quite clear, no?

anyway
1&2) just delete it and no need redownload. u can keep the "real" fah.pkg (~50MB) file in your PC as needed.

3) can just turn the proxy on/off as needed in the internet settings. when you are not installing demos and wish to visit the PSN store, turn off the proxy for normal operations
*
Sorry, still not very clear on 1&2. Missing something here.

1) Once you deleted the original F@H, you need to download again right to instll the game demo (if i understand Bro Aiman instruction correctly). Do you dl F@H thru PC or PS3? If PC, i hv dl and store on PC and how do i install that on PS3?

2) On the Proxy server - Replace Files tab, once you add the left column you put the Fah.pkg link and the right column you browse for demo game dl on PC. right?

3) What does F@H do exactly in all this proxy server link..?

what the PS3.Proxyserver is trying to do is do "replace" that file with another PS3 demo installler file. eg.  "demoabc..............etc.pkg" file

that way, when u click download+install Folding@Home program, it will be redirected and "download+install" a PS3 gamedemo from the PC instead. hope u understand.
*
Thnks.. i think i understd better now. F@H is just an avenue to download something to PS3...F@H is not really physically downloaded.

OK will try tonight..
Thanks again bro

Yeah, any brand will do, as long as 2.5-inch SATA. I'm using 160GB WD.

Thanks man.. you still keep original or you've use it for something else?

If go back to Sony for warranty claim.. you need to put back the original ones?
