hey there, currently wanting to play some old games on ps3 , like ff8 and ff7. the playstation website says that the 40gb ps3 only can play certain ps one games and i was wondering if any1 ever tried playing ff7 or ff8 games on 40gb system

As long as the game is the correct region and it isn't... "ahem", then it should work fine.

FF7 and FF9 works fine on my 40GB PS3. I know there are some problems back then with FF8 so thats why I did not try it out. But that was back in Firmware 2.00, the problem should already be fixed by now.

hi to all,juz got my PS3,original 2.3 version,successful connect to internet through wifi but cant log in to PlaystationNetworks to download demo games.The system required latest update.Is that normal?

Just found the lastest 2.42 in Playstation.com(this afternoon still V2.41).downloading now,should be no problem with the update through Pendrive,rite?

lol, yea was thinking of getting it. how does it perform yea? does it look a lil better than b4?
btw, i think there are only two versions ive seen on sale, the japanese one and the us version. which one is for me, as my console is japanese?

It performs just like it was on the PS1. Look better? Well, enabling the PS Smoother and upscaling will make FFVII look in a way, better IMO. Atleast there aren't much jaggies. FFIX on the other hand, could actually look almost as good as any first-gen PS2 game!

PS1 games are region locked dude. So it ain't gonna work on your Jap PS3, since the region code is different.

gentlemens, i have ps3, firmware ver 2.30... i can connect to internet but not ps network. Both LAN and wireless. I tot it is the same thing... it drive me crazy... Do i have to update the firmware first??

...damnit... i sooo wanted to play ff8. the jap one would be in japanese

Mine is the 40GB south Korean set( i think it might be asian), and i really want to play ff7 and 9, what region should i buy??

My PS3 is SG set, so its region 3. My FFVII and FFIX is also region 3(or rather NTSC-J), Jap version. Got it extremely long time ago.
