yes waiting it to arrive (3rd or 4th week this month), now im submitting AP application to MITI,
custom tax will be around the same the cost i buy the car..

im using car-sensor.net, ur in Japan?
*
hmm... I'm not in Japan, but kinda in a difficult situation to explain.
I'm in the states. However according to the AP rules, if I go back M'sia I can buy a car and bring-it-in. It's stated somewhere in the AP (*. pdf). (becuz the states is a left-handed drive car, so I can't bring it in, thus, am allow to re-purchase from somewhere and bring the car into the country -- that's roughly what it says)

How much did you pay for your car? (you mentioned u paid 800k yen for your car, tat means usd8,000 for me)?

Would you still be staying long in JApan? I will need someone's help to get me a right-hand side car.

EDIT:
Alil xtra info about me, I don't know if this would help, but anyways;
I've been driving my RX-8 (the one I own) in the states, since July 2008. I will still be working in the states for a few more years, it's just that, I am thinking to buy the car now, and bring it back so that I will have something to drive when I go back m'sia for my summer vacation leaves. I graduated at the end of Dec 2008 with my Bachelor degree, obviously I do not qualify for the 'return to home program' since it hasn't been 6 years.

So, just wondering how to re-connect the dots to tell the kementerian that I have my car in the states, and becuz it's a left-handed drive, I will buy a car from Japan, and have it ship in and show them that's my car? Just proof of purchase? Is that all I need? What are the other requirements to buy a car in Japan? (insurance and stuff, would require a local japan identification + driving license??)

car cost me, 800k yen now around usd9,500...
i adi graduated a week after the tsunami, now im in Malaysia for good..

im not sure u can bring in a Japan car using US AP, need to ask sifu BeastX bout this,
u juz need to confirm at the MITI whether u can use ur situation to bring in Japan car or not..

about the 9 month ownership requirement, some fowarding agent can handle the 'situation',
some online seller can arrange the car to be shipped to Malaysia, not much problem with that..
to buy a used car in Japan u need to pay in Cash the full amount (no instalment),
no need license (not mandatory), but need license to drive the car though tongue.gif ...

Yes, I am on working visa. I graduated from my student visa a few years ago and have changed to working visa since.
Professional Tax Exemption? Like the 6 years + Bachelor thing? or is it something else?

It's a b!tch to get a Ferrari in the states... (insurance, high maintenence, heavy road tax, high import fee since it's a big engine and etc..)... also, it drives on left remember? doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif
Tat's the thing that I wan to try to avoid sweat.gif sweat.gif

EDIT ADD: And I don't think I can get around to import a left-handed drive? or Can I ?

26 years... should be quite low.... the cost of transport may be more than the tax that you need to pay...

It would be hard.... I would think not allowed... staying in one country while having the car in another, owership, 9 months, etc... for personal AP...

For Professional AP though... no restrictions and tax free

Hi need some advice from all of u guys..
Currently 1 of my friend's already back to Malaysia for good since 5th March 2011, graduated from Ireland. He didn't use his AP and considering to sell it to me. So he still have time until June since AP is valid for 3 months right? The situation now is, can I use Ireland's AP for a car purchased in UK? My other friend currently studying in UK and he can handle all the process in UK if I wanna buy a car there. It is just I need confirmation whether my friend who graduated from Ireland can use his AP for UK's car since it's in EU..

U can always bring a bike back here. Most of my friends and seniors graduated from States bring back a superbike. For example a 2nd hand 2007 Yamaha R1 can easily fetch around RM70k here. I believe in States it is around RM20k only. Or if u can afford the maintenance here, buy a Ducati biggrin.gif

it is much satisfying that way...

btw im only buy my car 2 month before shipped it back to Malaysia,
i guest fowarding agent can handle such thing, as parking space in Tokyo is very high..

Personal AP ... needs criteria to apply... un-like open AP.... if you fulfil the needs than you are eligible. Before you can submit your AP application you'll need the car ownership of 9 months, 12 months stay, de-register, engine/chassis no.

For you friend to sell you his AP.... lots of forging of documentations will be involved, or under-table thingy for MACC to investigate. Beside your friend will have to own the car for 2 years in Malaysia before transfer is allowed.

AP issued is valid for 3 months for you to use it to bring in the car..... not specifically on the date your friend arrive back in Malaysia.
Example: Your friend can apply at MITI around June (even though he reached Mal in March)... and the AP issued at mid June will be valid till mid-Sep for him to bring the car in (but to be safe form queries, he'll need to own the car for 9 months before March).

^This is for direct open dealings with MITI..... If you go through agents, money can smooth through any restrictions/barriers.

Forwarding agent may pull some string to get it through.... Involving money, How much they charge?...

Forwarding Agents with connections will get you through, you pay for their service...

Yeah I am aware about the documentation needed, like those 9 months stuff and such. I think forwarding agent can try to process and make it through. Not sure about under table thingy since I never heard bout it before. That is why I am looking only for my friend's AP because it is much easier to deal with rather than buying AP from random students there.

Ouh thanks for the clarification. I thought he needs to make application within 3 months after he arrived in Malaysia or his AP application no longer valid..

This should be without port handling charges (crane unloading/truck driving)... which may cost you RM800 to1000++, if it is with, then it's worth it (their service probably RM200 to 300).... The "service" charge quoted buy some are around RM2k.

Yes, base on Japan price. Same like Mercedes manufactured in South Africa. They don't use South Africa price.

Only 1 solution. You need to import RHD car to USA. Use for 9 months and bring it to Malaysia. Dont waste your time search through internet. Thats the only solution.

Or if you dont mind use LHD car in Malaysia, you can send your RX-8.
