My friend is in US right now, will finish his study next year and he's thinking of bringing a superbikes home using his student AP..i;ve read somewhere that if we bought bikes that aged 5 years and above the tax is lower..is it true?
and how do we know the docket price of a bikes?he's planning on bringing a 2nd hand year 2005 bike...he bought it for RM15k vmad.gif
the docket price is determined on new price or used price?

^personal AP you can exceed 5 years... older, depreciation ... less tax (Of course it's true)

Like Bedok had mentioned before, to estimate the docket price is by taking 17% off from the original price of the vehicle right? not from the 2nd hand value is it? tongue.gif

from which country do u plan to bring back the car?
if from japan can get reference on RP from link below..
or u can directly email custom officer by providing a few details about the car.
can try these..
http://www.carsensor.net/

Thanks for the link smile.gif
But how to know the actual price of the car? it's a bit confusing..
unit price = 52.0 ten thousand, total amount paid= 55 million sweat.gif

Added on February 24, 2011, 3:20 amJust talked to my friend whose studying in Ireland and gonna be back this year, and he is offering to sell his AP to me. So i did a quick search on cars over there and came across this Mercedes S320 W220 year 2000. It cost EUR 4,500 for the car (cheapest i can find) but for other cost like insurance I did not find out.
So let say if I want to bring that car to Malaysia, how will the calculation be? Is the docket price of RM215,000 for Mercedes S320 usable since this car is the older model W220, not W221?

Since the car is more than 10 years old it will have 100% depreciation rate isn't it?
I tried to calculate using the tax calculator but it seems the tax will cost > Rm100k sweat.gif Or did I calculate it wrongly?

Hi need some advice from all of u guys..
Currently 1 of my friend's already back to Malaysia for good since 5th March 2011, graduated from Ireland. He didn't use his AP and considering to sell it to me. So he still have time until June since AP is valid for 3 months right? The situation now is, can I use Ireland's AP for a car purchased in UK? My other friend currently studying in UK and he can handle all the process in UK if I wanna buy a car there. It is just I need confirmation whether my friend who graduated from Ireland can use his AP for UK's car since it's in EU..

Hey guys, I am currently studying in the UK...Just bought myself a Celica Supra 2.8cc 1985 for about 1.2k pounds during my 3rd year there...now in my fourth year, considering to bring it back for sentimental value sake..How much do you think they would tax for bringing back to msia?
*
U can always bring a bike back here. Most of my friends and seniors graduated from States bring back a superbike. For example a 2nd hand 2007 Yamaha R1 can easily fetch around RM70k here. I believe in States it is around RM20k only. Or if u can afford the maintenance here, buy a Ducati biggrin.gif

yesterday, i went to port with my fren to arrange his car,
there i see a 'makcik' is bringing home a almost new porche Cayene Turbo and a Mini cooper S 2010,
she is a doctor in UK, now i know, Najib juz now announce that a professional who come back home
will receive two AP (full tax exemption) + 2yr income tax exemption 15% (i think)...

bro if MITI hav no problem, u should imports a car from JAPAN,
there car is in good condition and low milage + much cheaper...
*
budakhops, any recommendation how to bring back a car from Japan? 2 of my friends coming back in August I think, couldn't recall but graduating in this year. If I couldn't make it to use my friend's AP from UK i might gonna use the one from my friends in Japan. UK cars mostly comes with high mileage sweat.gif

Personal AP ... needs criteria to apply... un-like open AP.... if you fulfil the needs than you are eligible. Before you can submit your AP application you'll need the car ownership of 9 months, 12 months stay, de-register, engine/chassis no.

For you friend to sell you his AP.... lots of forging of documentations will be involved, or under-table thingy for MACC to investigate. Beside your friend will have to own the car for 2 years in Malaysia before transfer is allowed.

AP issued is valid for 3 months for you to use it to bring in the car..... not specifically on the date your friend arrive back in Malaysia.
Example: Your friend can apply at MITI around June (even though he reached Mal in March)... and the AP issued at mid June will be valid till mid-Sep for him to bring the car in (but to be safe form queries, he'll need to own the car for 9 months before March).

^This is for direct open dealings with MITI..... If you go through agents, money can smooth through any restrictions/barriers.

Forwarding agent may pull some string to get it through.... Involving money, How much they charge?...

Forwarding Agents with connections will get you through, you pay for their service...
*
Yeah I am aware about the documentation needed, like those 9 months stuff and such. I think forwarding agent can try to process and make it through. Not sure about under table thingy since I never heard bout it before. That is why I am looking only for my friend's AP because it is much easier to deal with rather than buying AP from random students there.

Ouh thanks for the clarification. I thought he needs to make application within 3 months after he arrived in Malaysia or his AP application no longer valid..

wah budakhops congrats..1 step closer to get the car out of customs laugh.gif
anyway about the tax does the calculation gonna changed?
because last time I called customs and talk to one of the officer to ask about the tax..i said i wanna bring a bike back to Msia from USA, year 2004. she asked me to call the next day bcoz she need to find the docket price and calculate first. so the next day i called and she said the tax is around rm4.5k only..
is there any hidden tax that need to be paid after the bike arrive? i scared later they calculate and then the tax rises to an amount that i cannot afford sweat.gif ..under rm5k still ok..

Does anyone have any experience importing cars to the United States from Malaysia? My family is considering joining me in the States and my dad loves his Volkswagen Scirocco very much (which isn't available in the United States). Car imports to here is very stringent (has to meet tons of quality and emission standards) but let's just put that aside for a moment. Is there anything to do, on the Malaysian side?

And before anyone asks, RHD isn't a problem, there's tons of RHD vehicles in the States. And yes, they're mostly JDM tuners. smile.gif
*
eh where to find RHD in US? cannot find in craigslist tongue.gif
