hi guys,
i got few friends who r studying in japan, and finished 1st half of next year...
since they could not afford to buy a car, the asked me, to ask, to sell their student AP,anyone interested i can give email address and discus with them directly..
since u all know, the title of the car cant be change for 2 years (it means legal owner(AP holder name) n actual owner is a diffrent guy)

AP holder will not gain any tax exemption or special discount whatsoever, they onli hav the permit to import a car into Malaysia.
party interested need to have ready money for:
Car cost + transportation cost + Custom's tax + AP price.

JP export..

translation of title - no need
custom japan clearance - only need to de-register the car, very little cost involved (cannot recall) but all-in-all about/less than a hundred RM I think. (not in the RM5k cost)
forwarding the car to port and etc - (all inclusive with the shipping cost)
Forwarding the car from ship/port to unloading area (when reached Malaysia) - RM 800 to RM1.5k...(also not in the RM5k cost)

bro how bout cars that more than 16years old?
such as Honda NSX 1991, is there will be no custom tax at all??
since the "custom value to be tax" is = rm0.00
is it possible?

For normal import/Student/Working AP.
Tax will never be zero (FOB depreciation goes to infinity number of years) .... CIF value, the transport/shipping + insurance cost is inclusive.... for a 16 yo car... rough estimate below RM 10k in the overall tax.

There will be zero tax if you're a returning professional (like a PhD holder with 2 years working experience of required/listed field)
*
yes ur right bro,there will be no zero tax.
is there any links that i can find a custom's docket price for car from japan?
Custom said they refer to the "Japanese Motor Vehicle Guidebook" for docket price. any link or reference?
i adi email the custom officer, he said the depreciation is - 70%(first 6 years) - 10% (every 1 year, subsequent year).
example:
a 10 years old car, docket price of rm150,000 (example)
150,000 (docket price) - 15% (trade discount) - 70% (first 6 years depreciation) - 10% - 10% -10% - 10% (depreciation for subsequent 4 years) = FOB, am i right?

@sue22
there u go, the custom docket price should be around similar with the retail price... for confirmation on docket price u can email the custom officer involve directly..

docket price - 15% (trade tax) - 70% depreciation(2/04 to 02/11 = 7yr) = FOB

FOB x (exchange rate =3) + insurance cost (vary) + freight cost (vary) = CIF

import tax = CIF x 30%
eksais tax = (CIF+import tax) x 75% (gen car + <1500cc)
other tax = (CIF+import tax + eksais tax) x 10%

Total tax (need topay to custom)= import +eksais + other tax..

Thx for reply,another question pop up..

Let say i have a frenz at UK,i wan to buy a car from UK,then:

1:  I have to buy it 9 month b4 at UK and let my frenz to use it 1st?

*
there is a loop hole here... some freight companies will handle the documentation (ownership of the car),
therefore it can be change... many my lil bro senior, buy the cars few weeks before graduating...
as long in the documentation stated the ownership adi more than 9month.. get what i mean??

yup,i got it,thx for reply...
so u plan to buy it a few weeks b4 ur bro graduate?

Wat is the requirement for a ownership of a car at UK?
I have a frenz went to UK,but he just got back few month ago,i mean he is graduated,so he still able to buy the car at UK?
*
yup will certainly do...
to maximize depreciation of the car value(tax)...

@BeastX
im targeting 370z ST version...
when at custom Malaysia, will it be recognize as normal 370z or 370z ST version?
since there is a different of around 600k yen for the retail price(docket price)..
or it depend on the documentation since the only different is the accessory included..

It depends on documentation.... they may also see your rims and on-board accessories and jack up accordingly. In my case they did not bother to check (as I used a container), all based on my documentations ... I could have even had gold/silver/platinum in the car also....
*
thanks.... it seems oso luck is so important... hehehe...
the depreciation is start from the manufacturing month n year to the date the car is declared to custom right?

Hello,

I would like to make a rough calculation of bringing back car from the UK using student's AP. Does anyone know what's the custom tax for

2006 Mercedes Benz CLS 350 ?

Is it worth bringing back the car?

Thank you.
*
tax should be around rm220k~240k...
i use rm350k as doket, 60% depreciation (4yr++)

still can be cheaper...

wow. thats a lot of tax. what's doket price? isnt it supposed to be 90k - 150k (tax only)? how do they determine the amount of tax? is there any trick to reduced the amount of tax?
*
no such thing...
doket price is the price to calculate tax, it is based on the selling price of the car if new..
since cls in malaysia cost around rm700k~, so i assumed the doket price is around rm350k~
the eksais duty is the highest tax of all, since the car is >3000cc it is 105%..
