well, I would say that's like a packaging of a product... you like it or not, doesn't matter, but that attracts... hahaha

Fair comment haha. My beef about these lounges and the free coffee/tea/soft drinks/snacks that they provide is that the rental/staff/maintenance/upkeeping costs etc could have been passed back to the customers in the form of better rates for their deposits, for example.

well, physical experience is undeniably 1 of the key element. It's like you taking business class, you prefer to get something above average. hahaha

laugh.gif pretty silly right? Macam we would take the capsules home. Over here, the priority banking lounges all have wait staff, who will come to ask what you want, as you wait your transaction turn. I usually feel bad for these old aunties, and we tip them like how we'd tip the waiters at the restaurants - which means I end up spending MORE money going to one of these lounges, than I would if I just lined up for counter service. Hahaha.

Do you guys use your privilege to 'cut queues' in banks during this MCO period?

I mean, I usually will show my card to be assigned with a different queue number. But since nowadays have to line up, I don't want to appear like a snob/jerk if I do so....

Not talking about banks with separate sections or lounges

Maybank premier wealth "Private banking account" is diluting Maybank private wealth exclusivity and branding.

Hi folks that are familiar with HSBC Premier.

My understanding is that with Premier you can pretty much open a bank account in any country, by doing that will you also be able to place FD deposits in that overseas country?

Some countries have higher interest rates i.e. India around 7% and would be higher than Malaysia

You have better chance in opening oversea account, but still subject to many questions and paper works to complete.
But the good thing is, you are to do it in a lounge with assisted by a pretty relationship manager, whom also bring you a coffee.

Used to be very easy even after the 2008 financial crisis until the 1MBD issue blew up. Nowadays you’ll be asked a lot of questions and there are a lot of paperworks too.

Someone I know took 6 months to successfully open a HSBC USA account and that was 2 years ago. 4 months before the HSBC USA account was opened, he flew to US with his son who was about to start his uni life there and both him and his son managed to open a Bank of America account almost on the spot.

Depends on which country you want. With Singapore CIMB and Maybank are the usual choices, expect no help at OCBC even if they are a Singapore bank and even you are priority.

Thailand, CIMB can also do.

High-yield bond default rates may double as companies struggle with a protracted economic downturn even as the Federal Reserve props up valuations, said Jeffrey Gundlach.

The investment grade corporate debt market has skewed toward lower quality BBB- rated debt, but if just 50% of that were to be downgraded it could fuel a near doubling of the high-yield market, Gundlach said Tuesday on a webcast for his firm’s flagship DoubleLine Total Return Bond Fund.
